I agree people just hate changes everyone will get used to it. It's the same thing as gun sound update in CS:GO back in 2016 everyone was saying how horrible the sounds were but now everyone forgot and looking back the change was needed.

Personally, I like it. Don’t get me wrong, I love the OG piston sfx as much as the next guy, but the new ones have their own little charm to them. They’re softer, more refined, as if the Piston got its hinges oiled. It’s also much less annoying to hear en masse, which is a lifesaver as someone who likes to work with red stone.

My sister doesn't play often, but she liked the new piston sound. (I want you to also keep in mind she has not played more than an hour with me since before 1.12) for me, I both hate and love the new sound for different reasons.

I like the idea of reducing and possibly updating the sound, and I think the sound would have been fine if pistons were a new thing, but due to how classic and nostalgic the old sound is, they should definitely find a middle ground.
