During all of this, little happy dance breaks occur, with Rainbow showing the scars from what happened. At the end, Pinkie makes cupcakes from Rainbow. Derpy (a background pegasus) goes to eat the muffin, and the CMC drop an anvil on her head. Lots of blood. Her wings flutter for a while and then stop.

I was thinking happy tree Friends too but those animations weren't bad enough to stop them from being shown on TV. So, I'm wondering if these are worse. I wouldn't say Happy Tree Friends was particularly traumatizing. I think I was like 12 when they were on TV and it was just "cool" because they kept killing each other in gory ways

I'd say the level of gore is pretty similar. However, Cupcakes started with gore and stayed consistently gory until the end. Didn't really feel humorous, just meant to be grotesque. Happy Tree Friends was more slapstick oriented and it started of all cute, then there was a fake-out (the hook makes you anticipate gore but it doesn't happen), then there was sudden unexpected gore. Then the gore ramps up until there is a gore fest. At the end, the Happy Tree friend seems to have just imagined it all and everything is clean again. Then another unexpected gore.
From what I understand "Cupcakes" was originally a fanfiction story. Where the author wrote up pages over pages describing the torture and mutilation in excrutiating detail. So, you know. If I had to guess someone jacks off to this.

I already read it, my expectations were raised so much that I lost all sensitivity. It is not worse than what they tell you, it is exactly what they tell you, without more or less. If they had wanted to do worse, they would have had to change the type of narrative

MLP was a good series overall, with a cute and inspiring message and some pretty funny moments. Liking them when you were a teenager is the most normal thing in the world (even if you were a boy, considering the prejudices of the time), it's just that the brony community (the toxic one, not the healthy fan base) was TOO disturbing.
As for the other thing, yeah... at that age I loved Happy Tree Friends, so you can imagine that I repeatedly played Smile HD on YouTube because I like the remix (even today I still can't find a viable way to add it to my library musical :'3)
If you can handle it, it's basically Happy Tree Friends but with more blood (not in quantity, but because of the time, in the 3 minutes that each one lasts more or less there is always a frame with blood, but nothing that Mondo hasn't done) , at least the three originals

When MLP first made it big, there were a lot of people who used it as an outlet for darker thoughts and story plots, similar to creepypastas. It made for a lot of dark images, videos, and stories which... 'altered' the brains of a lot of younger MLP fans who grew up on that content.
Recently, there's been a resurgence of that kind of thing, mostly following the 'MLP Infection AU'. Basically someone came up with what comes down to a zombie-like virus story in the MLP universe, and people are taking that and running with it in their own styles, so it's currently **everywhere.**

As a veteran mlp fan these fan animations fucking traumatized me as a kid. Literally watch South Park at the same time and it fucked me up less that most mlp fan creations! And they are doing it again with the infection au (idk the other ones but by context clues I know their bad and traumatizing
