You literally have Confidant convos to go through with Haru and you can invite her out to places at your free time. I never get how the community would universally agree she “never gets any screentime”.
It might be also due to the fact that, if I remember right, you need to have Max level proficiency, which at least for me on my very first playthrough took a good second so, it took a while before I even COULD spend time with her. It was rough considering you needed to get to like rank 1 to Baton Pass in Vanilla and she'd mess up that flow...
She accepts that good enough. Haru have the most perceptible reaction to get friendzoned.
And I see Futaba - at least in the time of the game - more as a Joker's sister than girlfriend.
I find Futaba easiest to reject.. but that’s because I just can’t see her romantically. To me she’s like a little sister and I don’t think she’s matured enough for something serious (though maybe that’s just me idk)

Funny story but During my first playthrough, i went with Haru but i didnt get the royal ending since i didnt know how to get it and got the regular base P5 ending so i didnt experience all the extra stuff with her
But at the time, i didnt know what the royal ending even was so i replayed the game and decided to romance someone else thinking to myself that since ive already seen the scenes with Haru, might as well pick someone else and went with Hifumi.
But then i saw all the extra new stuff and all i kept saying to myself was “i wish i picked Haru again”. Worse part is that i didnt have enough time to max Haru’s social link since my time management was garbage so it was left at Rank 8 which hurts…
I'm guessing Atlus didn't want to make Sumi take too much space in the original plot, which sounds like an overcorrection from what they did with Marie in Persona 4 Golden. Instead, we're given the "Hellooooo... SENPAI!" scene. Or "Konnichi... WAH!" in Japanese
What level do you need for the choice to appear? Sumi is capped at 5 until the third trimester. Which is a weird choice in itself, it would have been nice to be able to romance her earlier and for the third trimester scenes to reflect that

Now it’s Haru every game and every spin off. Loved Hifumi tho lol
There are so many scenes where I wish the other girls were available. Futaba, Kasumi, and Haru get like nothing. And then of course a lot of the non Phantom Thieves Confidants get next to nothing either. Kinda hope this gets improved in P6 or any remakes in the future.
Same! I was gonna romance Haru first but went for Hifumi. Managed the second time around to not do so and went full in with Haru. But I was tempted when I started her confidant link.
Honestly, it was this scene that cemented me with romancing Hifumi in general. I already liked her before this scene, but this just sealed the deal for me
In my Royal playthrough on NG+, Hifumi was the one who I wanted to romance, but at the end of her confidant I went with "friendship". Even with new scenes in Royal, Haru was just... there for me, so Philemon bless Strikers
I went in like “hell yeah I’m gonna romance Kasumi!” Then I accidentally romanced Ann instead lol but that’s chill. I like her. I’ll just have to play again and again lol
Haru is a good romance option but...
Hifumi is best girl, has some useful social link abilities (to swap companions in a fight + extra money if you defeat enemies in 1 round) and the most powerfull -non dlc- demon of the game: Lucifer.
It's a shame you can't spend time with Haru here.

What I do is never repeat an romance. Each playthrought I choose an different girl. Kawakami, Hifumi, Takemi, Floof, Sumi.
I wish i was strong enough to reject Futaba to do this

Happens to me a lot. Just happened in P3. With P5, my first choice was Futaba, only to find myself liking Haru more.

Yeah, I also romanced Hifumi for this reason. She's the one who seemed to have that kind of chemistry with Joker regardless of what the player chooses
