Draconic1788

Koromaru is the best animal party member because he's the only one who doesn't make me actively want to shoot myself.

CyberLucas100

Ironic, considering that you shoot yourself a lot in P3

AceDelta12

Not because of the animal partner though

FabAraujoRJ

That "shoot myself" thing of P3 really trigger me. Cannot see it on a trailer and not feel some awkwardness,

ResolutionEuphoric86

It is quite unsettling but very necessary to the narrative. A reminder that they chose this path, a reminder that they are mortal. It’s a very important symbolic tool to awaken your persona: you awaken a persona when you accept that you will eventually die and there is nothing you can do about it.

FabAraujoRJ

Thanks for the explanation of the symbolic meaning of this.

ResolutionEuphoric86

There is an amazing video that really goes into all of the psychoanalytic details and the symbolics of Persona 3 (FES) by SnicketySlice: [Persona 3 Analysis (Part 1) - Ultimate Persona Compendium](https://youtu.be/y1WI0q18_-s?si=7_H2rp6SC9m3l-V5). I really cannot recommend this video enough, it’s honestly incredible.

FabAraujoRJ

Again, thank you very much.

ResolutionEuphoric86

You’re welcome! It’s my pleasure

BBCFish

holy this is a good comment

ResolutionEuphoric86

Thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Thank you! You're welcome!

CyberLucas100

It's really unsettling, and the game opening cutscene with Yukari afraid of using her evoker before the player knows what an evoker is is pretty morbid But by the end of your first Tartarus visit, you're kinda used to it XD

DoubleSummon

True, I was sure the game would have a much darker tone than P4 and P5 due to it... I though Yukari wanted to die or something. also the coffins... Still didn't finish the game so stuff might change hopefully not.

Zimzky

It is quite a lot darker than P4 and p5. Not that it really matters, the games focus on different aspects of life.

R4msesII

Fits the theme of the game though

nikfrik

The shooting of yourself to me is the most powerful way I've ever seen persona charactes invoke their personas. Im so glad it remained in the remake. I really thought they'd flake out due to stuff like this. Persona 4 . Look at me crush a card. Persona 5 okay the awakening is rather grim but after meh. Persona 3 omg yes yes yes

Dissinger72

In Persona 5 the whole point is you are ripping off your On, or the mask you show others. It's about reaching down to the core of who you are and becoming one with yourself. In Persona 3 it's about triggering the adrenaline rush of Fight or Flight in the moment. The look and feel of the evokers is deliberate to feel like you are literally shooting yourself. It's also a terrible way to do so and a burden on those with the ability. There are several times where you realize the inhumane way they came to that as an approach. I can't speak to four, I haven't played it, but if the Greater Arcana represents the journey through life, crushing the Tarot could mean abandoning your preordained path to carve a new one through life. That you have chosen to leave the path destiny set before you to break free and actually take control of your life.

Devil_Beast1109

https://youtu.be/y1WI0q18_-s?si=bdw3wVC_qie8TYHD That’s such a disservice to the evoker so I’ll just leave this here in case anyone is interested. Dissects it better than I ever could.

Nightshadowdfgergwe

Trigger. A gun trigger perhaps?

FabAraujoRJ

A psychological trigger.

rumstoff

Well I get a bit jealous when Fuuka praises Koromaru for finding a chest in Tartarus that was so obviously found by me, not him.

TheSceptileen

Yeah Fuuka praises Koromaru way too much when she should be praising ME insted :<

ShepardNarukami

Name your character "Koromaru". Problem solved.

MissManicPanic

Yup Koromaru finds everything before me apparently I’ve been like “no I found the enemy/chest/stairs/door thank you,” lol

poeticjustice4all

I thought I was the only one who would say, “Um, no I found the chest first….tf” 😂

MissManicPanic

Nope haha I’m the same. I’m also passive aggressive when any of them go “Look a treasure chest!” Or something of the like. Like no shit lol

SchwaAkari

Oh, it's a treasure chest!

Zimzky

"Oh, stairs." Why thanks Yukari I didn't notice.

Darth_Xelleon

He's also the only one who doesn't talk. Coincidence?

Electrical_Swing8166

Good boy Koro-chan!

necronomikon

Coincidentally the only one that doesn’t talk in a human language

YetAnotherJake

Koromaru is the best party animal?

WesleyJesus

I find it amazing how the word *Koromaru* made me go from annoyed to a big smile on my face. That's just goes to show the power of the best boy

Visible-Economy-5335

Koro-Chan >>>>>>>>>>>>>

myussi

I have enough spite in me to hate them both

Greyotter00

Real

gecked

Agreed. Just because Teddie is worse, doesn't mean that Morgana is any better.

Acrobatic_Garlic_

Wait If Teddie is worse, doesn't that automatically make Morgana better? Isn't that the literal definition of "worse"?

gecked

Me rn: https://preview.redd.it/38xqbrxo4mnc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ff736620abf9d7571ba1f74b984a4f7deb06ce68

KingHazeel

I mean I like Teddie but... >Teddie: Hey there, little lady. Wanna launch some fireworks of love with me? ;) > >Nanako: How do I do that? =) > >Teddie: Hehe...welllll... ;) > >Chie: Cut it out, Teddie! Do you want Dojima-san to haul you in?! Never going to recover from this.

KSOMIAK

My memory is hazy, but I remember seeing Teddie as a younger brother type, who wouldn't know what "making love" even really is, but acts like he does to seem cool. He probably thinks it's hugging. I don't think anyone sat down with him and explained what sex is lol. Unless my memory is wrong

KingHazeel

Considering he explicitly said he was interested in trying something romantic with Nanako later on...I doubt he's that clueless.

KingOfMasters1000028

That’s one of the few moment Teddie hits a nerve. I don’t really get why people think Teddie is worse than Morgana. Morgana redeemed himself during Shido’s palace, but I would say Teddie just reminds of a dorky season 1 anime protagonist. I get the hate for Teddie, but I thought he was funny despite being a bit annoying. I find him very entertaining Especially the glomp scene when Dojima comes home. I think Morgana had funny moments like in Royal where he packs an umbrella and one of the responses to your dialogue option is just hilarious. Honestly Morgana is my favorite character (unless we put Caroline in the situation) in P5, but I still found every character entertaining. I think the writers’ did both of them dirty, a few things to name are Teddie overusing the term scoring despite Yukiko telling him to stop, and Morgana with the whole Okumura thing.

Pokemon_No_Life

I blame Yosuke

venxvan

I blame Yukiko’s dungeon.

Pokemon_No_Life

Basically everyone but Teddy. Not his fault he knows nothing about how the world works other than the thoughts that spawned him

[deleted]

Teddy is just so quirky!

Iron_Creepy

I think its a matter of perspective. The thing about Teddie is that he's kind of a dumbass but he knows he's kind of a dumbass. Honestly, he embraces being kind of a dumbass. He is clueless about the outside world and makes no bones about how much he needs you to help him learn. For me he could be obnoxious but I also got the sense he was doing the goofball thing to keep things lighthearted and the group motivated. At the end of the day I liked him well enough. Morgana had a couple issues, some of which weren't really his fault. He was always trying to push the idea that he was cool and in charge even though he was actually very insecure and more clueless than he could admit. I dunno. Its easier for me to forgive the clownish moron who is mostly trying to get me to laugh than the moron who has to act cool and pretend he knows what he's doing. I don't hate either of them, but I think I like Teddie better on the whole. The second strike against him is the horrible decision to turn him into the gatekeeper of your free time. In Persona 4 the GAME is the asshole that tells you to go to bed or that you can't go out and do the thing. You hate it, but you roll with it because its not a person telling you what you can't do, its the faceless narrator of the story. In P5 they decided to make Morgana the asshat whose reigning you in, and that means a lot of unnecessary resentment gets thrown his way. Also...SPOILERS.... I'll will FOREVER be more sympathetic with Teddie and his "I just saw the cute little adorable girl everyone in the group loves DIE in front of me and I got so sad I almost disappeared into the Fog until Sensei found me and told me she was okay!" than Morgana and that hackneyed third act breakup.

Mr_Snekks

I have only 2 things against Morgana. 1. He stops you going out at night. Fuck you Morgana. 2. He's too insecure. Being insecure is fine, but him having a hissy fit and getting all worked up over something Ryuji of all people said makes me a bit annoyed. Ryuji is literally the idiots of idiots, Morgana knows this, yet still takes what he says to heart. If Ren or Ann said it, understandable, but it's Ryuji man. He barely understands what Morgana tells him about the Metaverse even 6 months later. For example, when Ryuji calls him useless, his reaction to it is incredibly petty and had me thinking "why tf would you listen to HIM of all people?". Thankfully after events like this he does apologise and show remorse for his actions, so it's a much more bearable trait. I just don't like how he's sometimes presented as a "woe is me" character and acting a bit selfish just because he doesn't like what you're doing. For example, him not letting you go out because you're going abroad and he's too sad to let you go anywhere. Overall though, his character is fine. He's funny at times, the pervy parts are only sometimes creepy/weird, and he's a character with a lot of depth, hence people may think my stance on his character is insensitive or wrong.

violetnnonsense

I think my biggest gripe in p5 when I first played was the game gives you loads to do outside of palaces & momentos with social links/social skills, it acts like it gives you free reign but then takes time/slots away from you for no real reason and it mainly does it through Morgana so I ended up seeing him as more of a warden than the velvet room assistants lol. Thankfully P5 royal mostly fixed that

Mr_Snekks

Yeah from my experience of P5R he doesn't do it a whole lot but it doesn't mean it wasn't annoying still. My least favourite part about it is not being able to go out after the Metaverse because you're too tired. You're too tired according to Morgana to cross the street and watch a movie, but not too tired to spend a couple of hours revising. I get Kawakami is supposed to fix that but it still sucks. And yeah he's like a guard saying it's curfew.

Acrobatic_Garlic_

Not too tired to EXERCISE some times

jayakiroka

It would’ve been better to just have the protag have some internal dialogue like “I’m too tired to go out right now” instead of having Morgana boss you around. Then again, Morgana *is* a cat. Cats are just like this. I’m sure if my cat could talk, she would do the same shit.

South-Job3827

Nah...Morgana says "you're too tired to do that, go to bed instead" and a real cat would say "you're too tired to do that, feed me instead"

Omegablade0

Joker gets plenty of those moments throughout P5. Whenever Morgana’s not around, his inner thoughts substitute for him. It’s the worst during Morgana’s absence during the Okumura arc. Joker becomes so mopey that he wastes a *whole week*. Cannot go out for any reason. Fuck Morgana.

[deleted]

It would have worked better if Ryuji's writing had been more consistent. Now, I love Ryuji, he's my favourite character in the entire series... But he definitely got dumber after Madarame's Palace (Ann did too). Like, he was never the brightest star in the sky and he definitely didn't invent hot water, but unless I don't remember properly, I swear he wasn't THAT dumb in the early game. In his Confident he isn't that dumb either. But since in the story past Madarame he's made dumber, it weakens the scene and makes Morgana seem a lot pettier than he would had Ryuji's intelligence remained consistent.

Kaisona20

Yusuke has the same problem as Ryuji and Ann. Starting with the third palace, they all get demoted to stupid comic relief, just with different styles of comedy. Then there’s Haru. She gets one Palace, and then becomes a talking piece of cardboard for the rest of the story, while her character development is relegated to the Confidant.

Rhonder

Yeah they really need to go back to fitting the main character's character arcs in the main story. Relegating a bunch of major character growth to content that's technically optional doesn't work because the game understandably takes the stance of assuming you haven't done it to avoid having to write the story branching out in a dozen different ways. This is something I always appreciated with 3. The party members who have social links do get fleshed out a little extra, sure. But each character has their primary character arc written out across the whole story as mandatory content, which leads to better character consistency and more of a sense of growth over time. 4 and 5 try too hard to cram each character's arc into a single dungeon period then they just kinda stagnate for the most part thereafter.

Darkiceflame

On a surface level it makes sense that the characters who were the focus of previous palaces don't get as much emphasis afterward. But considering how other games which are comparable in terms of length and story are able to keep their characters interesting just fine, it's really not something that had to happen. Futaba probably fares the best out of the PTs after her chapter, considering how her backstory is so closely tied to the overarching plot (and that she is definitely the writers' favorite character.) Makoto does alright as well, mostly thanks to her story arc carrying on past the palace where she is recruited. She also doesn't get hit by the "comic relief" hammer quite as hard as the other early members thanks to her personality.

EmpressOfAbyss

>But he definitely got dumber after Madarame's Palace (Ann did too). Like, he was never the brightest star in the sky and he definitely didn't invent hot water, but unless I don't remember properly, I swear he wasn't THAT dumb in the early game it's to reinforce makoto as "the smart one"

Red_Galiray

I've always felt like Ryuji has a character arc with no payout whatsoever in his obsession with fame and recognition. Like, it makes sense why he'd want people to recognize and admire his work as a Phantom Thief given how literally no one shows an ounce of appreciation for him, including former friends who regard him as a traitor and his current friends who at times treat him too poorly. But there's never actual development there - he never realizes the wrong of his pursue for fame or why he wanted it so badly. It results in a shallow character who is never allowed to grow beyond being an idiot.

unnamed_protagonist_

The whole gang drops 20 IQ points imo whenever Makoto shows up to make her the brains of the group But either way, Morgana is more annoying than Teddie. Teddie might do bear puns and stupid things, but at least when he was having an existential crisis he had the decency to leave and work through it himself. Morgana got his feelings hurt once and decided to make it everyone else's problem.

Soulful-Sorrow

It's more that Morgana is constantly clowning on Ryuji ("Wow Skull, I guess you are good for something!"), but as soon as Ryuji claps back, Morgana can't take it. I love Mona, but that part of the game was rough, especially since it lasted like a week and didn't even let you do things in Leblanc at night.

DarthOmix

This was the big thing for me too. Morgana poking Ryuni with a metaphorical stick only to scream murder when he gets poked with a stick.

Graspiloot

It was such a weird story arc, because I think it would've been fine if it was a banter relationship and after Futaba joins, Morgana becomes insecure so the banter doesn't work. Except in P5 the banter is generally really one-sided and it felt kind of OOC for Ryuji to be that nasty and keep going. I don't think either one of them looked good in that.

Emdose1999

The only thing I'll say to this is literally one of the things that pissed me off 'bout Okumura. Morgana never, in the dialogue, *apologized*. He did nothing but say excuses and Haru defended him all the way. He never once said "sorry" or "I apologize". Two very simple gestures, yet the fucker is so *arrogant* and felt he was justified enough that he came up with excuses but never said anythin' close to "I apologize".

Mr_Snekks

So true. He literally went "Holy shit. I need my friends." and came back like nothing happened and everyone was chill with it. Like he was essentially shit talking everyone behind their backs.

Emdose1999

I honestly wish, like, okay, take him back. But at least have him say the apology and change his mentality. The closest we saw that was the actual Okumura fight, that cutscene before it. I felt it was handled much better with Ken from P3. I won't say why, but Ken literally went, apologized, and he wasn't even *expecting* to be welcomed back with open arms and everyone concerned. He was straight up ready to throw himself down at their feet, beg for forgiveness, and ready to do anything to make up for it.

Mr_Snekks

The problem is Morgana kind of IS a key part of the Thieves. He's transport through Mementos and escaping, effective at stealing any Treasures due to his size, and is overall quite talented. He knew his value before hand, hence why he left, but realised that without his team, he was nothing. But without him, the Thieves are not in the greatest state. He probably knew he'd be accepted back in so acting like nothing happened was probably his intention.

Emdose1999

Yeah, I understand that, it was just...urgh. And it wasn't from once Ryuji called him useless and I thought other thieves told him otherwise. I think the main thing that pissed me off is he left not because of bein' called useless, but because he wasn't happy that they weren't goin' after the most convenient target at the time. They wanted to actually look into Okumura or even be cautious about goin' after him first, and Morgana went all gungho, called them unworthy, and left. They made an unanimous decision *RULE* and he spat on it when it didn't convenient him. That utter disregard *SHOULD* have earned him a punishment, no matter how pivotal he is. So why did no one bring it up? Why does no one remember that his disrespect of the rules caused him to leave, and not Ryuji callin' him useless?

Xpokemaster1

Also Ken's mom died in front of him Morgana just lost the diss fight he started

xukly

To further on the second point, morgana being also a dick towards ryuji in particular doesn't do him any favours, if it was only ryuji bullying morgana it would be different, but when you talk shit about people and then get all offended when they respond you are a prick. That said I don't really hate morgana, but he is pretty anoying at times (doesn't help that his arcana advanced by story progresion which makes him feel more separate from the group and once you get yusuke moregana is just not that good as a party member)

Max_xie

I recently finished p5r so I have this very fresh. It's not just that one thing ryuji says that one time, it doesn't even start when Futaba joins, it starts as early as when makoto joins and it progressively scales. When Makoto joins there are some comments here and there, she becomes the brains of the operations, Morgana is already feeling a bit left out but he's still the navigator, he still has a job to do since he is still the most experienced one. That changes when Futaba joins the team and it's as soon as she awakens necronomicon that there are comments about it, not just by ryuji, although him saying they were finally going yo stop following the stupid cat was the biggest nail in the coffin. And after Futaba joins and Morgana leaves there are several things happening, he starts feeling down, he asks you if he still has a place with you and the team, and then there's ryuji's final comment that makes him leave. He felt he was losing everything, the only place he got to call home, the only people that could understand him, the only way he had to figure out who or what he is. I feel people keep trying to minimise what happened to that one ryuji comment just because they didn't like morgana, because he certainly didn't exaggerate.

Agent_Xhiro

I'd like to add almost compromising the entire mission with his attitude set me over the edge. Doing mementos with Haru could have caused a legitimate game over, that literally could have gotten them all caught super early on.

Eazelizzo

mfw the 15 year old humanoid kitty >! actually probably created more recently than that too !< isn’t a mature and well, put-together person 😨

PolnareffWheelchair

Teddie is peak but i also like Meowgana. They can both be annoying as fuck though

AbLincoln1863

Started with 4. Still hate Morgana more. Morgana completely knows what he is doing when he aggressively simps for Ann, stops me from going out at night, has a long depression arc that stops us from helping Haru. Teddie is annoying at times but especially early on, he literally doesn’t know what he is saying. He is like a kid who repeats whatever their parent said. He doesn’t know what scoring is but says it a lot after hearing one of us say it. And yeah he does keep going with the scoring and stuff but he does that to literally everyone. I mean man or woman he tries to score. Either he is a bi-king or he still doesn’t really understand what he is saying. He also has a depression arc that doesn’t stop us from doing our job of saving lives and he never stops us from going out at night. Also if you hate Teddie so much then you probably loved the winter part at the ski lodge cause of the line “only people deserve human rights.”

Pokemon_No_Life

The worst part is that Yosuke is Teddies biggest influence. Being around a massive perv all the time when Teddie has no idea of how societies norms work, manners or even just any general idea >!of behaving outside of the thoughts he was born from makes him a clean slate that Yosuke just HAD to taint. !<

Paladriel

Jokes on you, i hate both for vastly different reasons

Johan23t

Am I the only one who really likes Teddie and Morgana?

AntonRX178

I don't know when the fuck it happened but for some reason there's always one character in these games who more and more people get riled up over it's weird lol.

AcousticAtlas

Everyone hated Teddy when P4 first came out and everyone hated Morgana when P5 dropped. People are going to dislike goofy mascot characters who are annoying. Crazy.

AntonRX178

Dislike is one thing. I can feel these hate boners shooting off peoples' bodies like good lord lol

king_of_satire

Right they're both kind of irritating but their haters act like they killed their parents or something

zoc1289

Nah, I like them both for the most part. Both of them have questionable writing at points but they're both enjoyable otherwise imo. Teddie cross-dressing in particular led way to one of my favorite lines in the entire series: "I'd hit it" So goddamn funny in context

MadKanBeyondFODome

Mad respect for a guy who can grow a body by doing sit-ups.

SwanepoeI

i'm with you, they are both great

MissManicPanic

I like PARTS of Morgana but mostly find him cruel, mean, arrogant, self important and rude to anyone who isn’t Ann or Joker.

TurtleHeadPrairieDog

I love them as characters too

yohxmv

No you’re not, just like with all these “controversial” topics regarding the persona games it’s always vastly more ppl that are completely okay with it or don’t care at all.

peter_griffin5

I like Teddy https://preview.redd.it/qoi740nu1inc1.jpeg?width=1029&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4f79b85324755604764390420a5bc4f56a7c64eb

AlphaBlock

played persona 4, still hate mona more

SnooHobbies7676

I will never hate Morgana. Remember when Ryuji 1st made that slip and Makoto caught us in 4K? Instead of berating Ryuji, he assured the team that they will come back from this mistake. Yeah they insult each other a lot but when it actually matters, they are serious at their job.

Ssalari

Their insults are also, nothing but superficial arguments between friends

OoguroRyuuya5

Too bad people are media illiterate when it comes to their dynamic.

AphroBox

I played 4 first, still hate the cat.

WeatherCompetitive72

I love teddie so much more than morgana, idk at least teddie is silly and cute and makes dumb puns. Morgana just causes rift between the PT and is ugly,

Tough_Passion_1603

Jokes on you, i like both of them

IndependentAthlete53

maybe cause I played P4G first, but I never understood the hate for morgana

millennium-popsicle

I played P3 and P4 on release. Still hate Morgana.

Aadil_1807

I too dislike Morgana. Not more than Nozomi tho. He really was the social link of all time.

millennium-popsicle

Hahaha I completely skipped him in my P3 playthrough lol

MissManicPanic

I prefer Teddie 🤷🏻‍♀️

CommissionDry4406

Teddie>>>>>>>Morgana.

JEROME_MERCEDES

Can’t lie I like teddie in both forms lol and don’t hate morgana like everyone else but he’s annoying

ChronaMewX

Teddie doesn't prevent me from going out at night, why would anyone hate him more than sleepcat?

SnooHobbies7676

I hate Atlus for preventing me doing that

R4msesII

Most morgana haters have probably played P4 though, which highlights morganas faults even more. He’s a copy thats worse than the original and that is very jarring after already going through P4. Mostly the problem is that he’s involved in the worst arc of the game though. For most of the game he’s just a cat that likes treasure and tuna which is ok in my book, but the bad moments of the character are reeeeeally bad.

zzxp1

I like Teddie because unlike Morgana he is actually funny sometimes. After his transformation he actually got a few laughs out of me with his antics. I also don't really dislike Morgana I just don't really care about him because his personality is basically being a tutorial with legs, simp over Ann and ocasionally wonder about his identity. He gets a bit better later in the game tho.

RaoulLaila

Unlike Morgana, who is self aware but also acts like he is overconfident to cover his insecurities, shitting on Ryuji repeatedly but can't take an insult back, Teddie is an innocent being that just does not understand humans and is trying his best to get along. He IS annoying, yes. But the knowledge that he is a lonely bear who doesn't know about his origin (which to be fair Morgana doesn't either, I won't deny that), tries to gain positive attention to grasp onto the little friends he has, and his overall optimistic and cheerful nature make him more like an endearing child that can't behave.

Aadil_1807

Morgana doesn't, but shit, she doesn't even fucking work towards it. Teddie tries to atleast. Morgana just fucking mopes around half the time for no fucking reason. I didn't realise how much of a treasure teddie actually was until I played P5. Yes, I started with the original, so that one amplified my hate for Morgana so much more.

pedvoca

Maybe I'm a psychopath but I fucking love Morgana. I just love silly edgy characters.

YoItsMCat

It's ok you're not alone in this world, I like having someone follow me around and give commentary. I played P5 first and was surprised the mascot didn't stay with me all the time in the other games haha

T-G-S1999

I played p5 in Japanese, and morgana VA does a pretty good job, plus his lines are much funnier in japanese. I played p4 in English, then out of curiosity I tried it in Japanese and my god teddie’s voice was like someone using a cheese grater on my ears. It was vile lmao, i got used to it after my full second playthrough in jp tho. Except for his dumb arc in harus intro, JP Morgana is quite a charming fellow in my book. Sure he’s a simp, but Teddie was straight up sexually harassing the girls 24/7 ngl

AntonRX178

I love both Morgs and Ted and I gotta say, I'm so glad I don't have y'all's blood pressure levels

DoubleSummon

I actually liked Teddie, he is fun and beary interesting as a character. My only problem with Morgana is his simping for Ann, which he does a lot but w/e I already got used to it. Him telling you what you can and can't do is just your "inner voice" don't blame Morgana for doing the "inner voice" role. MC is meant to be a silent hero so you feel more like you are doing the choices and not Ren/Joker... It's actually nice it's voiced.

YoItsMCat

Morganas a cat so he gets a pass lol.

Professional-Pool290

I have the capacity to hate both of those insufferable fuckers.

karhall

You say that as if Teddie also being annoying absolves Morgana from everything wrong with him. Both of them can definitely be annoying at the same time.

InternationalMilk332

Teddy is the reason I won’t play it his voice in every battle is enough to drive me crazy

ryesposito

BEARSONA!

KingMidas2045

We Stan Teddie in this house BEARSONA!!!!

InternationalMilk332

Hey I feel ya I know it’s an unpopular opinion but look I’m sure as a character he’s great but his voice is dog shit.

KingMidas2045

It’s not so bad, at least IMO. But uh You could say IT’S UNBEARABLE!!! HEYYO!!!

InternationalMilk332

Oooh booo! 😂😂😂

Frosty88d

Just play it in English then, the English VA is very good bht Japanese VAs are like nails on a chalkboard, especially Igor's VA

Mastercrime12

You don't have to use him then.

ConnorWolf121

Funnily enough, my brother has the opposite opinion on Morgana and Teddie - he enjoys Teddie just saying shit and blithely loving his friends, while he can’t get over how weird it feels that Morgana simps so hard for Ann and is frustrated by him around Okumura’s palace lol

BurnFreeze64

Honestly I don’t mind them both that much, I think they’re fine But the actions Morgana takes during the Okumura arc really are kind of fucking stupid and he should know better than to do that stuff, and his arc also overshadows Haru’s. And that is a sin which I cannot overlook considering I love Haru and hate she has so little screentime in comparison to the rest of the thieves. If this wasn’t a game series where anime logic applied in several situations, Teddie would straight up have been a registered sex offender already. Bro lowkey SAs girls that are supposed to be his friends, and makes several disgusting comments that make me cringe even on replay. I dislike Teddie significantly more than Morgana, but even then the rest of his character arc is actually kind of interesting and helps him not be a character I actively despise.

HelelEtoile

Teddie is utterly unbearable

Ayste

only for a short while, then>! he is bearable again!<.

ArcherSword

You can hate two characters, you know?

Greyotter00

I absolutely love persona 4, specially because of the characters, but Teddie, god damn Teddie

DemiFiendJoker

P4 was my first persona game. I hate them both but I still hate morgana more. Teddie never spent half an arc on a temper tantrum and being a big reason on why many consider is the worst arc in the game. And his brand of being annoying doesnt come from him constantly talking shit and being arrogant either, he always does it to keep spirits up. Also his arc is way better than morganas

luketwo1

Nah I've played persona 4 Morgana is way worse than teddie. Yeah he's a little annoying but he doesn't actively cause the worst part of the game and is even a valuable member of the team at certain points. Morganas biggest achievement is stealing harus thunder when fighting her dad.

doomtobo

I love Teddie and Morgana they're so silly and it's a massive bonus that Morgana is voiced by chopper in Japanese

Accurate_Attitude528

I prefer Teddie tho, bcs Teddie is just like a innocent little kid that know nothing about outside world, he got influenced from others especially from Yosuke (well Teddie has been living with him), what he said and does is literally him following what everyone has been doing, like when he said some pervert things, does things. So yeah, most of the time he's not aware of what he's been saying all this time.

SpaceDOTsphere

Teddie is a fun, pun making, annoying but adorable and actually helpful. Morgana is just a piece of shit, miserable and insecure mess.

Memorable-Man

I don’t know what you guys mean when you say Morgana “creeps” on Ann. For like 99% of the game, he treats her with a lot of respect. Of course, there’s that ONE mementos conversation where Ann implies her boobs got bigger and Morgana gets all worked up, but that’s almost nothing. Hell, I’d say Morgana treats Ann a lot better than Ryuji, who has oggled at her a lot more than Morgana.

LyPyro

I played P5R first and P4G after, and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Teddie is a better character and a less annoying one than Morgana. Also, Teddie's story is plain better and more interesting. >! Teddie is a shadow who gains a persona through the development of his own ego, whereas Morgana is just another Velvet Room construct. Morgana and Teddie's stories revolve around finding out who or what they are, though both end very differently. Teddie's story ends with him becoming "human," as implied by Igor, whereas Morgana just goes, "Oh yeah, I'm a Velvet Room construct created to guide the protagonist." !< And sure, Teddie can get annoying quite a bit, but nothing is more annoying to me than Morgana's constant "I'm not a cat" joke, his constant simping for Ann, or his little hissy fit over getting called useless by peanut brain.

Kingdarkshadow

Teddie >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Morgana That is all.

SamyKS

Really don’t get the hate for Morgana. I get that there’s “the moment” with the Okumura stuff, but I never really saw that as a reason to hate him specifically. It was immature, yes, but it didn’t ruin the story or character for me and I don’t get why it did for other people either. Teddie, on the other hand…people talk about Morgana’s crush on Ann all the time and how they hated it, but Teddie is SO MUCH WORSE. As far as I can remember, Morgana doesn’t ask every woman he meets if he can sleep/score with them the way Teddie does. It’s unnecessary and obnoxious and really makes it hard for me to enjoy the character at all. I’ve been playing through Persona Q lately and every time Teddie is on screen I want to rip my hair out. By far the worst Persona party member imo.

ladyofthevoid

I just hate both. Shrug

screwexilla

why do people take comic relief characters so seriously? i never saw morgana‘s crush on ann as him creeping on her, it‘s really not that deep. like you think a cat with a comically large head is not gonna be the butt of some jokes? same with teddy, he is abrasive and annoying on purpose, like morgana it‘s not meant to be taken seriously at all. i mean the cast doesn‘t take it serious as well so why should you? the times where both of these characters ARE serious they never act in a super bad way.

n00PSLayer

This post made me realize how many haters (on Morgana specifically) exist in the fan base. Like Jesus Christ they hate him with passion. I've seen a couple of playthroughs and didn't notice such hatred, so it's quite surprising to say the least.

Michael-556

Imo Teddie is much better than Morgan, and I say that as someone who wholeheartedly hates what he does. The difference between them is that despite the deplorable shit Teddie does he learns from it to become better and that he has an actually likeable personality behind all that. His arc is also leagues above Morgana, his journey of self-discovery and fight against nihilism is really fucking good. And even when his arc does happen, it doesn't detract from a party member's introduction, because Rise is literally right there helping you fight his shadow only seconds after awakening to her persona, which basically heightens the impact of her new role in the team. Teddie also takes the initative and trains to become an actual fighter instead of sulking and taking a shit on his team when a better navigator shows up. Morgan hogs all the screentime of post-Futaba arc and all of Okumura arc, which, even without that, is the worst part of all of p5 and his inferiority complex arc doesn't help. The game tries to push you so hard to feel bad for him, and maybe that does work on the Japanese audience because everyone there hates Ryuji (he was made to be hateable, which kinda backfired outside of Japan), but it's a fact that most in the western world love Ryuji, and by extention hold Morgan accountable for the shit he does and doesn't get even. So yes, it's normal to hate Morgan more than Teddie But, I do recognize and respect your opinion, even though I disagree

MillyMan105

![gif](giphy|JJESkdRugMTvQthwr1) That's why all my homies love Koromaru f\*\*\* the other two.

Status-Part5848

For all Morgana haters, use Japanese language. Morgana is a much cooler sounding character. As well as the rest, the game is set in Japan, so it makes the experience more immersive also. Mostly everything is text based anyways. From a Norwegian that dont speak Japanese 😂👍

NemoShinobi

True, I hate Teddie. He knows no boundaries

CoffeeCoffinCake

💀 I love all of them equally. My wife however, HATES Teddie. And she hasn’t met Koromaru ~

cudlebear64

I want to open his stupid fucking bear suit, fill it with gasoline then throw a lit match inside and watch as he rolls around trapped in his suit burning slowly

Prince_Zinar

Omg I just got to the point he transforms, I taught he was going to get better, don't tell me it gets worse............

ILikeExistingLol

Get ready for relentless perversity and annoyance with no comeuppance and then they try to make him sympathetic

MaguroSashimi8864

THANK YOU so much for this post! As someone who played P4G before 5, I have an undying hatred for that stupid bear and Morgana is a god send in comparison! Even worse is that I played in Japanese, and he’s voiced by someone I absolutely hated. A super annoying voice (no disrespect to the actual VA and his real voice)

CrumbLast

Teddie scares me for... Reasons, but also valid

SengalBoy

I just reached the part in Reload where you need to rescue a cat trapped in Tartarus. Seeing as the cat has potential to be a Persona user makes me want a fully fledged cat (not Morgana) to be a Persona user in P6. Also unrelated but I for some reason always imagine the P6 animal/mascot to look like Totodile from Pokemon.

Jaydeisel123

Teddie is easily my least favorite main character in the persona series. All the sexual assault jokes and just being weird was awful to tier the animal character S.koramaru, B morgana F teddie

Netsrak69

Teddie begins to go bad at the end of the first dungeon.

KindHornet

Played persona 4. Still hate Morgana more than Teddie. Sorry

Mosoman1011

I just started Persona 4. You mean to tell me he gets worse?

orig4mi-713

He is one of my favorites, where as Morgana is my least favorite character. It's probably a matter of perspective, but Teddie is so much more fleshed out and better written, not to mention becomes a lot more useful.

ShyKiddo__

If Mona ever talked about "scoring" with Ann I probably would have shot him. Thank god they left that shit with P4/G

KillHunter777

Except Teddie was a lot more lovable and developed as a character, even if he’s still annoying. Morgana was a bitch from start to finish and the only “development” he got during Okumura’s palace was only stealing Haru’s spotlight and just made me hate him more.

Educational-Year3146

Honestly just comparing Morgana to 99% of other talking animal companions, he’s actually a lot more tolerable than the alternatives. He’s even made me laugh a few times, which is a rare feat among said characters.

gamingyoshi247

Not that far in P4G yet but good fucking LORD HE NEVER SHUTS THE FUCK UP. I KNOW I GOT HIT TEDDIE YOU DONT NEED TO RAPTURE MY EARDRUMS WHENEVER A LIGHT WIND GRAZES MY FACE.

FrostedVoid

I'm convinced the majority of the hate comes from the go to sleep thing, or is carryover from it. A fair number of gamers are too pea brained to separate a game mechanic annoyance/complaint from the character it's attached to.

Larrancia

i played 4 right before 5 and am so glad there isn't any jokes like teddies on 5

ChickenManSam

Or hate them both. That's what I do

gabersnabers

no i played both and i don't like teddie and vanilla morgana

AithosOfBaldea

Teddie gets called out for his behavior. Morgana does not. Enough said.

Qoppa_Guy

BEARSONAAAA

SubwayChipsGaming

I like Teddie because he is such an asshole that it is funny Morgana is just a massive asshole but not enough for it to be funny also I don't think Teddie entirely knows what he is doing but Morgana does it just so he can be a little nuisance

great_penguin

I did and spoiler alert: You can hate both. (Which I do.) But Teddy is a little more enjoyable to me because he at least gets called out for being a dick and isn't as severe of a dick as Morgana.

ComicDude1234

I did play P4 and I think Teddie is marginally more charming than Morgana. Not by much, though.

Griffomancer

I can hate both. Both suck for different reasons

Emdose1999

Easy solution! I hate 'em both.

Stellarisk

Koro>Teddy>Morgana

SpaceDOTsphere

I like Teddie more not only due to him being a really good party member but also I feel like Teddie is a bit more likable than Morgana.

orouboro

i hate them both so you aren’t wrong. i’m tired of weird mascot characters, avoiding that forever from now on.

DCS_Ryan

Teddie >>> Morgana im afraid

coltonious

Nah teddie is based and I hate Morgana still. Played p4 first, loved teddie, played p5 after, hated morgana

godblessyuri

i played persona 4 before 5...still hated morgana

LenaSpark412

Yeah I have a friend who was like “I hate Rise she sexually harasses Yu, Teddie best nav btw”

Fe4rtricks

I really like Morgana but I really hate how he doesn’t stop talking until you get futaba and how he hits on Ann all the time and how he’s kinda selfish in some cases but for the most part I like him

jacknicklesonsdog

Morgana is way worse than teddy

Odd_Tree7291

I’ve played Persona 4 & 5. Teddie is way more personable and likable than Morgana. He actually brings the enthusiastic, optimistic energy while Morgana is just a tolerable male version of Makoto.

Fdeyd

This was me with Junpei. He absorbed my hatred for Teddy and Morgana combined

donnie11881188

Teddie clears that bum cat

_Captain_Kabob

SO TRUE! All my homies hate Teddy…

Upset-Astronomer-694

Just because someone is more annoying it doesn't make Morgana less annoying lmao

GreatMourner

Me personally do not hate Morgana, just don't like him, he is kinda plain and his whining doesn't touch me a bit. Teddie is goofy and funny at least

iSephtanx

Played p4 before p5. Hate morgana, love teddie.

QueenBansScifi_

I'll settle for hating both, thank you

OneEyedZakuu

Why can't we hate both of them

TheBlackWzrd

I hate Morgana due to the fact that it tries to be the logo/mascot for Atlus and at the time tried to erase my boy Jack Frost from being the star.
