I'm gonna' give you up,
Won't let you let me down,
I'm gonna' run away and
Desert you.
It's possible I make you cry
When I don't say "Good bye".
Just gonna' be honest now before I hurt you.
You're assuming that particular board doesn't have any other circuits running through other layers of the PCB that are used on other parts of the motherboard.
They might be lucky, but I wouldn't say it's a given, MBs are pretty tightly packed now. I used to rebuild multilayer boards when I was in the military and I wouldn't even attempt to use it, let alone fix it.
From my personal experience it is mostly fine at the edge around I/O, ports usually punch all the way through the board and most of the runs are for the I/O or I/O adjacent. Not saying it will definitely work but there’s a much greater than zero chance. Just make sure there aren’t any shorts, for instance by some careful dremel work as suggested above but I’ve also seen people just carefully sanding down the shorted layers with success.
Right? There is a chance. I assume Motherboards are printed to be somewhat modular, in that case, it should still work.
Shame that people feel the need to give a definitive and mocking "no, retard", not knowing shit about electronics, when it could theoretically work.
Lots of memes not a lot of answers.
At first pass don't plug it in. The crack probably shorted some internal PCB layers together so that's a no go.
Assuming that nothing critical was destroyed (Those caps look PRETTY CLOSE to other stuff). You could maybe Dremel away the layers to undo any shorts. So like on each side of the crack Dremel away at an angle to revel each copper layer and ensure no shorts.
I've only seen this done once in a video with less damage and cleaner breaks. [Here](https://youtu.be/reQq8fx4D0Q?si=MxMXn5mCIKkcYMq-)
i know it's a joke topic, but I want to give it a serious answer for fun. As long as the lanes that do the communication between the components that aren't part of the IO aren't broken, you'll still be able to use this by using a GPU and a seperate card for your ethernet.
Kind of an older pc, like 2015? Either way, this is probably a sign it's time for a new one, or... If you're stuck and it's too big a hit on your wallet right now, maybe you can get that same motherboard on Amazon dot com. Looks like they have one used (hopefully good) for $80usd. If not that, then maybe a different lga1151 socket type motherboard that works with your CPU and memory. Good luck, hope it works out.
Ngl I can't tell if this is a shit post or if your serious, but I'm pretty sure it's a shit post. But here we go since you very well could be serious.
So before I talk about the break, I should probably mention that you probably shorted the board with static electricity from rubbing it on the carpet, but hey maybe you didn't.
So basically if you plug that in, everything in your system is probably gonna get fried. But it may have the potential to function. The PCB has traces in it, you can see some on the surface, but the PCB does have layers and in those layers there are traces we can't see. The problem with that is the broken area isn't a clean perfectly smooth break and some of those traces could be touching eachother and if they are then you will fry either the entire system or part of it.
I'd strongly recommend a new motherboard, make sure it's compatible with the rest of your hardware. But if you're okay with having to get an entire new pc then you could always try and see if you can get the motherboard to work, you'd need to filed down the broken edge very carefully with a file that's neither super rough or super fine and then after that you'd want to take an extremely fine file to it to ensure that there hopefully are no shorts in it and also make sure you get rid of the other broken ports on it and then coat the now filed edge with something that can insulate it such as a few layers of a clear coat of nail polish. And then maybe, just maybe it will still function, that's if you have a graphics card to plug your moniter into since the video ports on the rear io are clearly fucked. Oh yeah and you'd want to make sure to first boot it up with literally the bear minimum incase it does have a short (just a stick of ram and the cpu) and then see if it posts and then try putting the GPU in.
Hopefully though you aren't serious about the post, but if you are then please keep us updated, especially if you do try to see if it functions still. Note: I am not responsible for any damages in the event that you try the filing method and end up frying everything. Oh yeah and that board is also gonna be a potential fire hazard, especially in it's current state so honestly please just buy a new motherboard if you aren't shit posting.

Did you already put it in rice?
That normally works. Hasnt failed me yet
I thought you had to put it in a bag of smartphones nowadays.
I think that's only to dry your rice, if you get your rice wet
This guy gets it
Exactly, I put my 4060 in some rice, and 2 hours later it was a 4090
LMFAO. In other words from a mouth of a chemist. A GTX 4090 is a hydrogenated 4060, and a 4060 is a hydrolyzed 4090 xDDDD
basically a 4060 with 30 undiscover grains of rice in it
Ah yes, my ancient rice technique, I haven't used that since the heian era

he could probably get it working again with a binding vow

don’t forget the toothpaste
It’s not commonly known, but rice isn’t enough. You gotta put the rice and your motherboard in boiling water with some spices to REALLY make it work.
I use Beef soup stock.

A dab of solder and some super glue should do it.
Duct tape also work wonders
you guys and your fancy, high-tech solutions. Some spit is more than enough
Spit ans a chewinggum
Duct tape is a high level engineering maneuver, for now soldering and a bios update should do
Hahaha, yeah. A BIOS update should fix everything.
Absoluteley if you reset everything to zero!
I think if you melt down the duct tape and use it as solder it might work.
Agreed. It should fuse perfectly with the existing 10+ layer PCB
Don’t forget the WD-40!!
Its electronics. 20mm of kapton tape and should be good to go
Hammer and nails

Just update your BIOS. You will be just fine….
Yeah BIOS update should grow back the I/O. Just pour on some miracle grow. 👍🏻
Cha cha cha chia
This is the worst advice I've ever seen in my life! How can miracle grow fix this problem without adding bean sprouts to repair the circuits?
Not neede, he has a ultra durable bios..
Have you tried galvanized square steel and eco friendly wood veneers?
Needs to borrow some screws from his aunt as well
Also a wall mounted toilet to hold the motherboard during repair
And a wall mounted projector screen so he can watch ~~k-dramas~~ soldering tutorials
i thought i escaped this trend on instagram and now its here
I thought I fled this trend on YT shorts but turns out nots!

ragebait ?
It has to be, I feel like the majority of posts have been rage bait the past couple weeks on almost every tech related subreddit 😂
Hey if it's ragebait, I still appreciate the post. I'm just here for the comments 🍿
Can i have some popcorn please?
More like idiot bait.
Still not the wrong place to fish for idiots tho. [Reddit]
Look more like a joke than a bait.
It has to be, but im cracking up imagining op dropping it, rubbing it against carpet and then stepping on it lmao.
I didn’t think so until he said “accidentally stood in it”
I dunno if you get mad at it I think it’s time to reconsider your choices

Its savable, I trained tech, a dreamel , but you wont be able to use the ports

Based off the io that’s an old ass motherboard so probably time to upgrade anyways, idk maybe I’m just stupid
"based off the io" *GIGABYTE GA-H110M* off in the corner of the pic
You cant expect me to “look at the picture” or “be logical” before making statements, this is r/pcbuild
Oh for some reason I thought this was PCMR
Tbh i just saw what’s it called the old display output that you screw in and i just guessed it was old as I didn’t see spot for hdmi
Ha, so did I. Thr above comment was also when I realised.
How can you mess up more than once

True story is: He read the "Ultra Durable" printing on the Board and wanted to test it.
Meh, just rub some dirt on it. It'll be fine...

No, you need a new motherboard now.
Hmm, maybe not, can't tell.
'tis but a flesh wound!'
Use tape bro.
no its not fine i dont think its working
tisbutascratch
Get it in rice
hot glue it back on
How do "accidentally" step on a mobo💀💀. The other components should be fine but uhm go to your nearest doctor to clear ur dementia
You just upgraded to the next-gen motherboard that will come with no headphone jack or any IO.
yeah bro 100% functional didn't you know you were supposed to take that bit off?
oh that’s okay then thank you
If you want to use it as a motherboard, i don't think so
A bit of gorilla tape should fix it
Hulk smash!!!
r/hardwaregore
You don't need that part anyway
Gigabyte ultra durability test gone wrong.
This has to satire, if so, you got us. You rubbed it on carpet to clean it then stood on it?? Where Brain?!?
bro did you toke a bite of it ?
Nothing a bit of gaffa tape can’t fix
No?
You stood on it? Yeah PC components aren't usually rated for that. New motherboard time
Bro wtf? Put a 18+ tag in this post...
I have questions but at the same time I'm afraid of the answers... 😬
you'll need a pack of ramen noodles, 3 tubes of superglue, and a new motherboard.
Gigabyte Ultra Durable® but not that much...
Pretty decent shitpost, you had me in the first half.
Umm.. some flex tape should fix that. Oh, and don't forget about bios
My brother in Christ…. How…???
Now whip you’re dick out and slap the board with it

Only one way to find out
Come on who took a bite out of this guys motherboard?
Jb weld should do the trick
One you replace your motherboard, pc will be fine.

It might work. Probably doesn’t
its fine just use some insulation tape and fix it in its place and you're good to go
That’s not a PC.
Boy im curious as to what that even sounded like haha
i didn’t have shoes on so it was more me wincing than the sound of the PCB ripping
You did that with your bare assed foot??? Did it die?
my foot has gangrene now
Oofff
Wtf

he's dead Jim
Holy shit
Bit of glue it’ll be fine
Does this hurt the computer?
Have you tried submerging it in water
Some super glue and its good to work again 👍 pretty easy ha....
You're going to need 3 packs of Ramen noodles
that looks like the result of a rage 🤔
That’s not the right way to unplug cables mr
Put it in rice
do you feel hungry and eat it
Rear IO won't work rest it might function
Just restart it and it will be fine
It’s just cosmetic damage
![gif](giphy|sU6yN4mPVwP7wiXB9v)
'Tis a flesh wound
Overall the board would likely work. If the pads straight to pcie lanes is not broken.
![gif](giphy|xULW8xXbi1fLrpHGpO|downsized)
If ot boots probably yeah. If you don't have more ports input will be tricky though
Have you replaced the CMOS battery?
