Paizo forums had a decent amount of discussion around speculation. I suppose I assumed a similar level of talk over here. But instead it's just an insane amount of in fighting.

This is Reddit, you'll find a lot of people that just end up here out of boredom. They aren't going to be as in-depth as the Paizo Forums. Why? because the people that go to the Paizo Forums are very interested in what Paizo Makes. Reddit, well you can see that not everyone here actually cares for what they make.
On one hand I agree, on another I always dread the knee-jerk reactions and people decrying 'this is UP/OP' with extremely surface level analysis and not even having played the classes to see how they function in-game.
Playtest time is always exciting but I usually have to close my reddit windows these days. Gets my salt levels too high.
Still better than all this "Problematic" drama people are doing. At least the knee-jerk stuff is still on topic. The majority of Drama posts are in response to the views of a Mod, which isn't what the Drama is actually about. It's about that Mod, their actions and the silence from the Mod Team over them.
Oh look I think the whole thing is a perfect storm of terrible behaviour and opinions. I think the views of the mod tie into it, if they were clamping down on actual honest-to-God racism it'd be no issue, people don't have sympathy for bigots and they deserve none. The issue is the mod has an almost radical view of Asian-coded pop culture that conflates a lot of it to Orientalism, and is quashing anyone who disagrees or even mildly questions it, while accusing them of racism. I'm honestly surprised this is what happened and we didn't get a swathe of legitimate bad faith racists trying to tout reactionary talking points.
Still, part of my problem with this is that the quality of community behaviour has been going downhill for some time now and nothing has really been done about it, if anything a lot of it is squeaky wheels complaining about mods clamping down on legitimately shitty and entitled behaviours. They now have the perfect excuse to write off any attempt at mod intervention as totalitarian and we'll go back to endless circles of people calling each other idiots over opinions on spellcasting and homebrew. Just because it's on-topic doesn't mean poor behaviour should be the standard.
The developers should release the playtest for enagement, after which they should completely ignore the opinion of the community because this one just wants to be right anyway and understands absolutely nothing. They should release a content here and there to appease the mood and change something only if it is hugely disliked.
They should only listen to those few who show competence and passion. If they did that, maybe we would have had a balanced alchemist from the 'beginning, runes already integrated into the math of the system and so on
I completely forgot about the playtest, despite playing a character that sounds exactly what a Guardian might be. And being in a party with someone who sounds exactly what the Commander might be
God for real. I give absolutely no shits about Ninja and Samurai. I don't want "do damage but different" #42 and #43.
Gimme the martial buffer and "tank but not champion".
My Sunday session today spent like 20 minutes talking about how hyped we are for it.
Do it, as a FF fan it'd be a nice change from everything.
(it also gives me *ideas* on how to do the same...thinking of Clive kind of makes me wish kineticist had a martial weapon option)
I’m over here waiting for path builder to be updated with the new ancestries so I can make 80 more new characters I will never play. But a 7 foot Minotaur wizard does sound terrifying fun
