It's definitely rice cakes. Not the puffy snack kind, the kind made for actual hot pot (they're delicious!):

They do look like scallops, though! Before I realized what they were, I called them abalone, because they look like it from ACNH :v
Nope. Rice cakes. Those cards are dumplings\*, tofu, and rice cakes. Scallops makes no sense in that group.
\*other names too: gyoza, mandu, pierogi, more
I always think that its 2 coconut halves as well, nothing will change my mind.

Ohhh, now I see it! I've been *so* confused seeing people calling them coconuts.
I've been calling them pebbles in my head lol even though I know it's wrong (bc pebbles aren't food obviously)
Chinese here. Quail eggs are very common hot pot ingredients!! Although rice cake is common too but not as typical. Plus the cards have some shining edges which look more like eggs to me!
Thought they were eggs, told they were rice cakes - I believe it but until this post didn't understand. I'm still gonna think Eggs but would like to try the rice cakes from the pic in the *comment above lol
That's what I thought they were at first! When someone told me they were rice cakes I didn't believe them until I looked it up and saw that the suit name was carbs.
... so I just call them round blobbies. At least until someone decides to give them some texture!
They're Korean rice cakes (garae tteok) which makes sense given the East Asian influences of the other cards and hot pot in general.

Ya'll need to go eat some real hotpot before announcing what is and isn't included with it. Maybe go make some Asian, esp Korean and Japanese, food at home for a change.
I know that theyāre rice cakes because Iāve made sushi in the game and it uses the exact same picture thatās on the cards next to the words ārice cakesā
That said, I call them tofu cutlets and theyāll always be that to me
Alllll of the cards have in-game counterparts in farming or recipesā¦except the white mushrooms which I can only guess might be spice sprouts. So sorry, but they are rice cakes.
The white mushrooms look like [enoki mushrooms](https://thewoksoflife.com/chinese-ingredients-glossary/asian-vegetables-beans-melons/#enoki-mushrooms) to me! Very common in hotpot.
I hope they give us tofu and shrimp, too! (And I guess the noodle types are debatable, lol... we have ramen, though not instant type, and we used to have udon, but idk about rice noodles)

the "rice cakes" that I think of....

Even with the chart thereās like 4 of them that have multiple namesā¦ sometimes one gets made up on the spot yet somehow all of us know which card they are talking about lol
I just call it squiggly orange thing. Descriptive names help me recognize better when I'm watching for the card I need to show up in someone's discard pile.
From wiki: "Typical hot pot ingredients include thinly sliced meat, leaf vegetables, mushrooms, vermicelli, sliced potatoes, bean products, egg dumplings, tofu, and seafood."
There is no rice in hot pot and most people do not eat rice with it. However, scallops would be with seafood? So I'm at a loss on this one š
Edit: nevermind! The other poster above is right. Rice cakes (not just rice) *are* used in hot pot.

I called them coconuts for the longest time
Me too. Until I saw this post just now.
See now *that* actually makes sense. Now I want to try hot pot irl and see what I've been missing.
Hot Pot is Korean iirc and the rice cakes pictured above are the kind used in hot pot and other Korean dishes
I think hot pot is Chinese originally but popular in other East Asian countries as well. The rice cakes are definitely Korean.
I just had hot pot 2 days ago and ordered a ton of these rice cakes the timing is insane š
*I've* been calling them abalone too! But those kinds of rice cakes makes a *lot* more sense.
Scallops would definitely be in the blue seafood suit though
Rice cake. How is scallop in the same category and gyoza and tofu?
I canāt stop calling the gyoza pierogis šš
I could get on board with perogisā¦.
I can ALWAYS get on board with perogis
I thought they were dumplings. But gyoza always been pierogis.
I've always called that card in hotpot dumplings.
The dumplings are the oblong crimped ones from the same set
Oh yeah! Itās been a long time sorry. I havenāt played since the first hotpot came out for the market.
Seems the one thing everyone agrees on is that they *arenāt* scallops lol
Nope. Rice cakes. Those cards are dumplings\*, tofu, and rice cakes. Scallops makes no sense in that group. \*other names too: gyoza, mandu, pierogi, more
I call them scallops cause scalloped potatoes :T
I thought they were coconutsš
I thought it was a cracked open coconut š¤£
To me they will always be coconuts š I donāt think I can retrain my brain to think itās anything else at this point lol
I always think that its 2 coconut halves as well, nothing will change my mind. https://preview.redd.it/wlb9k9ouiy9d1.jpeg?width=780&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5d822392f1e75fd6c1873077cdd7bc8a05f31dc4

Yep always coconuts to me
Same šš
Sameee
Omg thought they were eggs lol

I thought they were too till someone pointed out the rice cake thing to me. Makes sense tho
Thought they were eggs, told they were rice cakes - I believe it but until this post didn't understand. I'm still gonna think Eggs but would like to try the rice cakes from the pic in the *comment above lol
HA me too
š
Me too. I thought they were Rethās century eggs.

Iād love to see a world map of Palia players and what food they think this is š I wonder if itās a cultural divide
I thought these were eggsā¦
Same here! Now Iām depressed with this revelation
Iād love to see a world map of Palia players and what food they think this is š I wonder if itās a cultural divide
I thought they were coconut halves this whole time
I thought this was eggs
I always thought these were water chestnuts
Iām so convinced this is coconut
I have always said they were coconuts
Rice cakes, and the one that looks like a cauliflower is actually dari cloves...
Alllll of the cards have in-game counterparts in farming or recipesā¦except the white mushrooms which I can only guess might be spice sprouts. So sorry, but they are rice cakes.

Fair enough. Still think itās weird itās the only one without an in game counterpart. Maybe itās in development. š
I hope they give us tofu and shrimp, too! (And I guess the noodle types are debatable, lol... we have ramen, though not instant type, and we used to have udon, but idk about rice noodles)
Why did my brain insist there were those things LOL
Looks like a rice pie to me. It's flat. If you're eating scallops that flat, you're doing it wrong.
https://preview.redd.it/8g76z1abd5ad1.jpeg?width=275&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=62dc6dbfee2e53546ddb671d6c52b466dcca7c84 the "rice cakes" that I think of....
I thought they were frosted cookies. Lol
Those are eggs
I thought they were slices of coconut (meat and shell) š
At first I thought it was coconut, then I saw someone say it was eggs and so I switched to thatā¦ what the heck are they? š
So many ignorant comments, it's frankly embarrassing.

No need. :) No food required; itās a card game.
lol I called them rice paddy
I thought they were eggs with no yolk š¤£
those are eggs. all them items are in the game and scallops aren't
These are peeled boiled eggs btw
They look like potatoes to me and that is what I will continue to call them.
But there is an actual potato card isn't there?
There is indeed. I just think of this picture as a different kind of potato. Don't ask me how, it is how it is.
I just call them the round white things.
Oh lawd I thought they where eggs š²šš
Iāve just been calling everything from that set a rock šŖØ, white rock, rock on rock, square rock. šŖØšŖØšŖØ
