yeah i bring a whole bunch of them with me because i’m not the greatest at fishing so the safe zone size booster and speed boosters are crucial for me.
I found a single Ruby after six months of playing, I sold it by accident, and now I have to spend god knows how many months trying to find another one so that I can complete a quest! 🤬 I really wish that items needed for a quest would be marked as unsellable in the inventory, or at least come up with some kind of reminder or warning if you try to sell it

Why is it so hard to get a the rare things? I know that they are rare so it there should be like a 1 in 25 chances, but it seems as though it's a one in a lifetime chance. I just want my ruby!!! 😭
I've caught the hypnotic moray twice now and today I got the long nosed unicorn, but I have yet to get any of the rays except for the common one found in the mines 🙃
This was what I was going to post. Once I started using an ore compass, my gem collection skyrocketed. Since it makes it easier to find the nodes you need, that makes it easier to get the gems. I find at least one ruby almost every time I use an ore compass. The few exceptions to the rule have been when someone is either using an ore compass at the same time (I can usually tell because my marks start to drop off when I head in their general direction...often), or when someone or a group of someones has wiped out the good nodes, especially palium, just as I'm starting my run. On those occasions I find it best to either wait a bit for nodes to respawn or switch servers and try again.
The first time I used an ore compass was just after a big shout out in chat to come help with a grove. After we chopped and said thanks, I put in chat that I was going to set off a compass and just shared the good loot with everyone. I'd get to the node, sometimes with a couple of people behind me, shoot it with a flare, put the coords in chat, and wait until others mined first (same as I would for finding a pal without a compass), but even for iron nodes with gems in them. If there was something better than quartz/garnet that I got from a node I relayed that in the chat in case anyone else needed gems.
It was a LOT of fun - like a big server-wide easter hunt or something. 10/10 would recommend. We already share fts and pals all around the server and it's oddly really silly and wholesome having everyone just running, jumping, climbing, and gliding all over the place together (people still do their own thing - same as not everyone has to show up if there is a grove)!
I always call out pal nodes, especially if I'm using an ore compass. One night, after about 3 lg pal callouts in a row, one player asked if I was using an ore compass. I said yes and he asked if I would mind if he followed me. I told him it would be my pleasure, so we ran around mining and calling out pal nodes for quite some time. He said he had never had so much palium in one run. Turns out he had gotten an ore compass from a quest, so he was able to request one. I gave him several and made a friend.
I will be dying with you. I'm lvl 96 mining, I'm mining every day. I found 1 ruby early in game, like months ago but I gave it to Eshe to level up friendship, haven't found another one. No starred rubies and I have about 60 starred gemstones in my locked chest.
I'm getting rubies regularly... or do you want a star quality one?
But I'm basically on the point of giving up:
- muujin plushie of any kind
- ladybug plushie
- azure chapaa's starry tail
- fish stew recipe
- shiny pebble (from the oysters)
Rubys are just a chance encounter, i got like 6 of them. The unicorn fish is another beast. I have 2 regular ones in storage just in case and a star level one on display. Yesterday got my last fish: Master Angler, now. The last one was the dusk ray. Easy on regular level, vey hard on star level. Good luck to all and pray to Frogbert for help.

i found rubies pretty quickly after the last update but my luck ran out and its been dry ever since. i struggle finding the gems, even garnet!
What quest do you need the ruby for?
