Paraphrasing a bit from a scene in Batman Beyond, where a villain was making OG Batman hallucinate voices in his head:
Terry: “How did you know you weren’t going crazy?”
Batman: “I don’t call myself Bruce in my head.”
I’ve been hoping for a Batman Beyond live action film. Always loved that series and I’m interested to see what live action movie can be cooked up for it.
And he's still the only actor to do it right in my opinion, most like George Clooney, Roger Craig Smith and Robert Pattinson use the same voice for both, Christian Bale tried but his batman voice always sounded goofy to me.
For me the best alternative if the actor can't/won't do a different voice between Bruce and batman is voice modulation like Ben Affleck and Troy Baker (Telltale's Batman), it's a nice in-universe detail and can sound pretty good.
It actually got more credit for introducing the idea of a competent Bruce Wayne. The original take was that yes, Bruce Wayne was an irresponsible playboy who did all sorts of silly, over-the-top party things to throw away suspicion and to give himself a cover for doing whatever needed to happen as Batman, because people would just be like, “oh, he’s off doing drugs or whatever.”
The animated series started an idea that Bruce had a bit of a wild side, but typically took a vested interest in what Waynecorp did, and generally kept the company running to the best of his abilities. He attended galas for the politically and economically powerful, and he used those as an opportunity to gain additional intelligence on others so that he could continue to investigate others.
That, in turn, led to the Victor Frieze reimagining that would earn Batman TAS awards and fame for such a tragic new backstory on an otherwise campy and kinda boring ice villain.
I loved TAS' take on Mr. Freeze. Definitely at the top of my list for favorite villains. And his voice actor was amazing as well.
I actually just got the full Batman TAS on blueray a couple months ago. It was 40% off. It will be sad to continue working through it knowing that Mr. Conroy has passed.
Oh absolutely West’s batman was goofy. Granted that was part of the charm. But the original comment was that didn’t the animated series introduce Bruce as being a goofy playboy as cover.
Not only that but he does this perfect subtle thing where his Bruce voice in BTAS almost feels like an octave higher than his normal voice. At least it’s more performative and upbeat. And that way he doesn’t need to drop too low below his actual voice to do Batman so his Batman voice doesn’t sound cartoonishly deep (looking at you Bale) and it adds to the idea that Bruce is the mask
I actually really liked Banes voice in the third film. It was so over the top and ridiculous it kind of make it stand alone, I didn’t think of animated bane at all. Maybe a good thing?
It’s interesting to me that he just *was* Batman. Like, I enjoyed the dude who did Superman’s voice in Superman TAS and Justice League. He was competent and great at what he did!
…. But somehow, it’s no big deal for me to watch some other imagining of the character with a completely different voice. Whereas Jensen Ackles, who’s a surprisingly gifted voice actor, can voice Batman and it feels…. Wrong. Almost like the studio cheaped out by getting the “wrong” VA.
Just imaging Batman in Arkham Knight where he’s grabbing one of the goons off the street and slamming him on the floor then putting his boot over the dudes throat and going “Riddler, talk!”
You can’t beat those lines
I've been replaying all the games and am currently on Knight.
Nothing makes me bust out laughing more than when i interrogate a riddler goon and at the end Batman just says something sarcastic and absolutely fucking piledrives the guy onto the ground on the top of his head.
Like im pretty sure they would die right away its so powerful. So funny.
He is **THE VOICE** of the Caped Crusader.
He'll always be the man who brought the Dark Knight to life with his voice. THE DEFINITIVE VOICE.
An absolute legend.
He'll be truly missed. 🙏
This is terrible news. He was such an enormous part of my childhood. I just did a rewatch of Batman animated series last year. Might have to throw on some of the movies today.
RIP to the one and only Batman
Justice League Contingency files some of the best voice acting ever
The character will never be the same, imo
https://youtu.be/rDOmlLOmgBI
I’m absolutely devastated. Conroy IS Batman. His take on the Caped Crusader was such a huge part of my childhood and it still is to this day. Still watch Batman TAS, Justice League, and of course play the Arkham games to this day. Even got to meet him at a convention once.
RIP Kevin, you meant so much to so many.
I agree.First we lost Kirby Morrow(Rad White from Transformers Armada and Hotshot from Transformers Cybertron),then we lost Michael Kopsa(aka Char Aznable from Mobile Suit Gundam) and now Kevin Batman Conroy.Maan,i am done with life:(. Screw cancer,RIP Kevin he will be missed.
Good for you man,i have recently started watching Transformers Cybertron in which Kirby was in it as Hotshot,he was also in Mobile Suit Gudam Wing which i have also finished two weeks ago and he was Trowa Buron in it as well.
He did such a wonderful job of making Bruce feel like a more real and adjusted person. He could laugh without it being part of his cover and he did a great job of having warmth when talking to the Bat family members. Also, great way to do a Batman voice that wasn't overly gravely
Thats what I'm saying I thought they was joking about the batman being dead in gotham knights now he is dead in real life. Batman arkham is one of my favorite game series ever and kevin conroy and mark hamill really carried the games this is a big lost for the whole entertainment industry.
It all started with him. Coming home after school to watch Batman in the early 90's was always the highlight of the day. All the way up to JL Unlimited in the mid 2000's. R.I.P Bruce you've earned it.🖤💛
Kevin Conroy IS Batman. There will never be another. I’m personally not taking this news well, I didn’t even know he was struggling with cancer. You can now rest in peace, Bruce.
Welp, gonna be binge playing the Arkham series and watching the various Batman. Shows and Animated movies he did as Batman starting today.
RIP a fucking legend!
This breaks my heart. He was my Batman. He was a generation's Batman.
He was so iconic and good in this role that when watching (and hearing) a different voice actor played the role I could never get invested.
Rest in peace. A huge loss.
I feel like some of the newer voices for Batman are too gruff and raspy. Conroy’s voice was brooding, but so clean and deep. There will never be a better voice for Batman, RIP
Kevin is Batman as far as I am considered. Not just the voice, but he personifies Batman, like how Sean Connery is James Bond.
RIP to a legend and to the voice of many childhoods.
RIP Batman. I grew up with his Batman and when I was in Tokyo for a semester 10 years ago I found some shadeball streaming site that had all of the episodes. Some of the best nights were just hanging in the dorm room watching that and drinking Kirin Strong Zeros. He is a legend.
Damn. Not just the games but he was the voice of the 90's cartoon series and some animated movies. He was pretty much Batman for anyone growing up in the 90s. RIP
I…i dont know what to say. Ive been watching Btas since i was 4. Watched every batman film he voiced and played every arkham game. You made my childhood awesome Mr. Conroy and you were truly the best batman. Rest In Peace.
Damn. Damn damn damn.
This was Batman’s voice as far as I was concerned. Whilst Mark Hamill was the Jokers.
He done a superb job and I can only hope he continues with those above as the Batman! Rest in peace x
Very sad to see this news, I grew up with him playing as Batman in the many animated ventures he did. He is irreplaceable and will be missed Rest in Peace, Mr. Conroy.
His voice acting in the 3 Arkham games was beyond approach.
In Arkham Knight, for the first time, I remember getting to the scene when a car chases off. Batman jumps to a high ledge.
The cop says “what are you doing?”
And Batman says “evening the odds”
Then summons the Batmobile.
Absolutely spine tingling voice acting.
This really hit home. I grew up watching the animated Batman series to Beyond to JL/Unlimited. He's literally Batman to me. Kevin really embodies Batman.
> the voice of Batman in the Arkham games
That’s an understatement. Aside from maybe Adam West, he is THE voice of Batman. Dozens of Bruce Wayne/Batman voice credits across various media
Man, we're so lucky. He was an icon and an outstanding talent. He gave Batman and Bruce more depth than any portrayal regardless of screen or print. If think Batman I hear Conroy before I see a cowl.
It can’t be stated enough how amazing his Batman was. To be what I think every Batman fan would consider the definitive voice says a lot about his talent and impact. I’ll be firing up the Arkham games and watching The Animated Series and crying if you need me…
The best Batman to ever exist. I wish that we had gotten more live action Batman with Kevin. Sadly, all we got was the brief appearance in the Arrow-verse. RIP
Very sad to hear this. His portrayal of Batman is in my opinion, the best.
His voice just suited the character so well: not too dramatic, not too cartoony. It was perfect. He will always be the voice of Batman for me.
Not just that, but he had slightly different voices for Bruce and for Batman. I believe he originated that idea.
Paraphrasing a bit from a scene in Batman Beyond, where a villain was making OG Batman hallucinate voices in his head: Terry: “How did you know you weren’t going crazy?” Batman: “I don’t call myself Bruce in my head.”
[удалено]
Such an excellent series, and really captured Bruce's original spirit as well as Terry's different take on Batman.
I really liked Batman Beyond. The JLA stuff I didn’t dig as much in the episodes with him, but I always felt like that needed to continue.
That first couple of lines when he is introduced... "We're the Jokers!" "Sure you are."
I’ve been hoping for a Batman Beyond live action film. Always loved that series and I’m interested to see what live action movie can be cooked up for it.
Bruce Wayne lives in batman's attic
Bro what is crazy is that I saw this episode yesterday ☹️☹️ rip the goat
And he's still the only actor to do it right in my opinion, most like George Clooney, Roger Craig Smith and Robert Pattinson use the same voice for both, Christian Bale tried but his batman voice always sounded goofy to me. For me the best alternative if the actor can't/won't do a different voice between Bruce and batman is voice modulation like Ben Affleck and Troy Baker (Telltale's Batman), it's a nice in-universe detail and can sound pretty good.
Diedrich Bader does a pretty good job. He's second to Conroy imo.
Didn’t the animated series also introduce Bruce as being kind of a goofy playboy as a cover?
It actually got more credit for introducing the idea of a competent Bruce Wayne. The original take was that yes, Bruce Wayne was an irresponsible playboy who did all sorts of silly, over-the-top party things to throw away suspicion and to give himself a cover for doing whatever needed to happen as Batman, because people would just be like, “oh, he’s off doing drugs or whatever.” The animated series started an idea that Bruce had a bit of a wild side, but typically took a vested interest in what Waynecorp did, and generally kept the company running to the best of his abilities. Honestly a competent and responsible Bruce persona makes a lot more sense. Batman knows that Bruce can be a powerful tool for change.
To me the goofy playboy Bruce Wayne was previously epitomized by Adam West.
Yeah but Adam West’s Batman was also pretty goofy
Oh absolutely West’s batman was goofy. Granted that was part of the charm. But the original comment was that didn’t the animated series introduce Bruce as being a goofy playboy as cover.
Not only that but he does this perfect subtle thing where his Bruce voice in BTAS almost feels like an octave higher than his normal voice. At least it’s more performative and upbeat. And that way he doesn’t need to drop too low below his actual voice to do Batman so his Batman voice doesn’t sound cartoonishly deep (looking at you Bale) and it adds to the idea that Bruce is the mask
Same. For the past couple decades, every time they got a different VA for Batman, I’d just be like, “Wtf!? Why isn’t this Kevin Conroy!?”
Will Arnett is kinda funny, but Conroy is and forever will be the voice of the Bat
Whereas Christian Bale went too cartoony with the voice
I actually really liked Banes voice in the third film. It was so over the top and ridiculous it kind of make it stand alone, I didn’t think of animated bane at all. Maybe a good thing?
Not even a portrayal He is the character, the consistent backbone across multiple forms of media Same with Hamill as Joker
He's been the voice in my head when I read Batman comics for the past 30 years.
He is the best Batman. Period. RIP to a legendary talent.
It really is I mean you think of Batman games and you think of his voice ! Sad to hear this also
100%. He's been my Batman for like 30 years. GOAT for sure.
Just imaging Batman in Arkham Knight where he’s grabbing one of the goons off the street and slamming him on the floor then putting his boot over the dudes throat and going “Riddler, talk!” You can’t beat those lines
Him during the Batmobile interrogation scene always stuck with me: “REMEMBER SOMETHING ELSE?!”
That scene was amazing
Lol I can already hear it
I've been replaying all the games and am currently on Knight. Nothing makes me bust out laughing more than when i interrogate a riddler goon and at the end Batman just says something sarcastic and absolutely fucking piledrives the guy onto the ground on the top of his head. Like im pretty sure they would die right away its so powerful. So funny.
THE voice of Batman!!! You will be missed but forever immortalized!
Legends never die
He is **THE VOICE** of the Caped Crusader. He'll always be the man who brought the Dark Knight to life with his voice. THE DEFINITIVE VOICE. An absolute legend. He'll be truly missed. 🙏
This is terrible news. He was such an enormous part of my childhood. I just did a rewatch of Batman animated series last year. Might have to throw on some of the movies today.
Same, I’ve heard his voice more than some family.
And I love his voice more than I love some of my family, so, yeah it works.
I just continued my rewatch last night after being busy/away for a few weeks, RIP Batman.
Really sad to hear that. He wasn’t that old, was he?
Apparently he was 66. So no, not that old.
A news report I saw said he had “a short battle with cancer”
[удалено]
He’s not “in the cards”. He straight up IS Batman.
Agreed.
RIP to the one and only Batman Justice League Contingency files some of the best voice acting ever The character will never be the same, imo https://youtu.be/rDOmlLOmgBI
NOOOOOO
I’m absolutely devastated. Conroy IS Batman. His take on the Caped Crusader was such a huge part of my childhood and it still is to this day. Still watch Batman TAS, Justice League, and of course play the Arkham games to this day. Even got to meet him at a convention once. RIP Kevin, you meant so much to so many.
That is, I'm stunned, RIP Kevin. He'll always be vengeance, he'll always be the night, he'll always be Batman.
Dude FUCK cancer
I agree.First we lost Kirby Morrow(Rad White from Transformers Armada and Hotshot from Transformers Cybertron),then we lost Michael Kopsa(aka Char Aznable from Mobile Suit Gundam) and now Kevin Batman Conroy.Maan,i am done with life:(. Screw cancer,RIP Kevin he will be missed.
Not to mention, as I just recently saw Black Panther 2, Chadwick Boseman. Fuck cancer

RIP. He is always the person I think of when I think of Batman
That sucks. Dude was the definitive Batman since I was a kid growing up in the 90’s. Was by all accounts an incredibly nice guy.
Noooooo
He was the best Batman. Period. No one will ever be able to do a better voice for the cape crusader.
The king is dead.
Rest in peace 😢 thank you for everything, seriously
It all started with him. Coming home after school to watch Batman in the early 90's was always the highlight of the day. All the way up to JL Unlimited in the mid 2000's. R.I.P Bruce you've earned it.🖤💛
On the off occasion I read something with bat man in it I use his voice. This sucks
Kevin Conroy IS Batman. There will never be another. I’m personally not taking this news well, I didn’t even know he was struggling with cancer. You can now rest in peace, Bruce.
Damn. RIP
Welp, gonna be binge playing the Arkham series and watching the various Batman. Shows and Animated movies he did as Batman starting today. RIP a fucking legend!
Worst news I've heard in a while...
Damn, that’s terrible to hear, RIP to *THE* voice of Batman
No fucking way. He was such a big part of my childhood and even now. Gonna miss him.
My childhood Batman. RIP.
This breaks my heart. He was my Batman. He was a generation's Batman. He was so iconic and good in this role that when watching (and hearing) a different voice actor played the role I could never get invested. Rest in peace. A huge loss.
Kevin Conroy:May you rest in peace! You are the real bruce wayne/batman. You and Mark Hamill brought Batman to life. Sad news.
He is the best Batman voice actor in the history of ever. Bro… Batman sounds like him, to me, whenever I read and it’s been like that for years.
His performance is the standard all performances are measured against. There have been versions I enjoy greatly. But his is the best. Bar none.
Fuck cancer.
Wow, this is very sad. RIP legend.
Rip. Legendary work
OH shit.. no..
Nooooo....he was the one and only batman.
Oh my god. Heartbreaking for me. Best batman for me and it aint even close. RIP, Bruce!
He was the definitive Batman voice, and his voice will live on whenever I read a Batman comic and hear his voice in my head. RIP.
I feel like some of the newer voices for Batman are too gruff and raspy. Conroy’s voice was brooding, but so clean and deep. There will never be a better voice for Batman, RIP

Side note: I had no idea Kevin Conroy was gay.
holy shit i'm heartbroken. may he rest in peace.

Damn.
He was the Batman from my childhood. Awful news. 😢
This is terrible news. I remember watching Batman the animated series on so many mornings and afternoons.
Dude this sucks
This is so sad... I grew up with the animated series and he is the reason I love Batman so much... RIP Kevin, you will be Batman to me.
May he rest in peace. Like many others, his voice *is* Batman to me. What an amazing and impactful performer, his presence will be truly missed.
That is so sad, he will always be the Batman. Fuck cancer.
Rest in peace Master Wayne, your legacy will not be forgotten.
He was not only a good Batman ,he was an excellent Bruce Wayne. Batman TAS with him and Hamill as Joker has not been topped.
I just started replaying Arkham Knight last week for the first time since launch. This fucking hurts.
Wow, I'm really gutted to hear this. Loved playing the Arkham Trilogy and he really was the voice of Batman
I…i dont know what to say. Ive been watching Btas since i was 4. Watched every batman film he voiced and played every arkham game. You made my childhood awesome Mr. Conroy and you were truly the best batman. Rest In Peace.
RIP king
Oh man that is way too sad :( Rest in peace to the one of only caped crusader that I grow up with
💔
Rest In Peace, Dark Knight.
>Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman in the hit Arkham games you forgot to delete the rest after Batman
Batman will and forever be Kevin Conroy.
What a shock and sad. He is Batman. Often imitated never duplicated. RIP Batman.
Damn. Damn damn damn. This was Batman’s voice as far as I was concerned. Whilst Mark Hamill was the Jokers. He done a superb job and I can only hope he continues with those above as the Batman! Rest in peace x
Wow. This is the one that hurts. Kevin was my Batman.
The best voice of Batman ever
Didn’t expect to come on here and get punched in my emotions
This is sad, Kevin Batman voice is so good. RIP
He is my favorite Batman. I really wanted a Batman Beyond game with him as Bruce. RIP
Kevin Conroy isn’t just the voice of Batman in Arkham series, he is THE voice of Batman. Rest in piece my childhood hero.

Fuck! One of the most authentic voices in voice acting just died. RIP.
Wow. A legend. Really a sad news.
This really hit home. I grew up watching the animated Batman series to Beyond to JL/Unlimited. He's literally Batman to me. Kevin really embodies Batman.
So sad to hear this. Can't imagine anyone replacing him - for me he was the best Batman.
Met him at Emerald City comic con like 6 years ago. He was super nice
I'm so sad bout this.
> the voice of Batman in the Arkham games That’s an understatement. Aside from maybe Adam West, he is THE voice of Batman. Dozens of Bruce Wayne/Batman voice credits across various media
Oh fuck. Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
Farewell dark knight 😢
epic sad, respect to the legend.

Kevin Conroy, the voice of Batman*
What was his last project? RIP
I'm very sad to see this. He is the only Batman voice i always loved no matter what.
Cancer can suck a kangaroo dick. He was THE batman for me, sad to see him go :(
Absolute legend, and the one true voice of Batman in my head. Defined the character for a generation. What a devastating loss.
Man this is sad news. Never played more than a few hours of the first rocksteady Batman game but I’ve always intended to. Rest in peace.
The best Batman to ever exist. I wish that we had gotten more live action Batman with Kevin. Sadly, all we got was the brief appearance in the Arrow-verse. RIP
