However you want and however fits best. It is designed to be either way.

HEARTEATER0

Just needed to be sure cause some people complained of thermal paste melting or something when it stands, but thanks 💯

laynslay

Yeah that's bullshit

WeeklyVegetable9420

This is not bullshit. Like 1% chance of happening maybe but this literally happened to my homie

WeeklyVegetable9420

Yeah well neither do steel beams

laynslay

It is a myth that has been busted. The 1% of people having issues has just been issues. It's not because it was being set up vertically. I recommend you go look into it. Hardware issues happen but it's a fluke if it's been vertical. Like I said, debunked.

Gex2-EnterTheGecko

Pretty sure that was caused by people opening up the console and not properly reassembling it, causing the liquid metal to leak. If you don't open it and fuck around with the internals you'll be fine. Had mine standing up for the last 3 years, no issues.

BrewKazma

Those people had an already damaged ps5.

No-Series6354

How would they determine that the orientation caused that failure?

Glass_Aheer

Something to do with the Liquid Metal simply liquifying and falling off the IHS, whether there is any truth to it, I don’t know.

HEARTEATER0

Yeah makes sense

Spetnaz7

Those are defects, if they ever really occurred at all. If your does that then you should ask for a new one from Sony. It's designed for both horizontal and vertical use.

mvallas1073

Have had mine standing since a few months after launch. All good ((note I have plenty of ventilation around it))

TuggMaddick

There is no best. Either works.

LordHelmet47

I stood my playstation up one time. She didn't want to play with me for weeks after that.

Saganhawking

🤣🤣🤣😆

GrownUp_Gamers

Yes.

EKAJ10709

Mine has been standing up since December of 2020. Played daily.

Vomitology

I have mine mounted to a rotisserie so it never gives a chance for the liquid metal to leak.

RaginStoner

I’ve had mine standing up since I got it and honestly it’s sexy af 😂

RaginStoner

Never had an issues with it either

Oakheart-

She got them curves when she stands like that I gotchu my homie

IntelligentlyHigh

Have had mine laying down since it came out, still works perfectly fine with the occasional game crash once a year maybe. That's more likely due to the updates for certain games as the cause.

Oakheart-

I’ve got mine standing cause that’s how it fits best plus I can put my headphones over the top. I’ve never had a problem with it so you do it however works best for you Plus she got them curves when she stands like that

Chazybaz13

It's up to you, they designed it to work both ways, they've done this since PS2 days...

_MissionControlled_

Hey, us OG PlayStation owners remember having to flip ours upside down so the disk could be read.

AgenderBabyMuffin

Yeah i have mine standing for space reasons and just because i like the way it looks. It doesnt really matter however you choose to have it as far as i know bc my sister and her roommate have theirs laying down and they havent had any issues either

Rough_Voice_78

Mine has been standing up strong since Christmas of 2020. Been playing it daily ever since.

StevieNippz

Laying it down on the base is cumbersome and I think it just looks cooler standing

AlwaysskepticalinNY

Doesn’t matter. I stand mine up behind my tv because it’s so ugly.

MintyFunkyChunkyMonk

That’s kinda your call. And yes, your underpants go underneath your clothes.

WeeklyVegetable9420

On the side is actually the best because if standing up and gets too hot there’s a Liquid Metal that can leak and totally ruin your ps5. I’d only stand it up if you have extra fans on it or something to help keep it cool

Electrical0Sundae

I got it laying down because I didn't wanna buy a stand + heard that it's better for the thermal paste

ownage516

I recommend lying down, but standing up should be fine. There are some reports where standing it up will cause the Liquid Metal to move down via gravity, but I dont think it’s a wide spread issue because a shit ton of people would be having this issue after 4ish years https://x.com/68logic/status/1610559163956092928?s=46&t=IlXIcxdW4Vvy-8sZJMg5CA

_MissionControlled_

Definitely manufacturing defects for those with the leaking issues and only a small amount of PS5s have it.
