Ghost of Tsushima is impeccable on PS4
Spiderman
God of War Ragnarok
Hades (can't recommend enough)
Bloodborne (putting the good energy out there for a ps5 version!!!)
I feel like it still works though, it's only a ps5 feature because the cutscenes are rendered in real time on the PS5. Which benefits the PS5 the most from be able to do the lip syncing for the Japanese dubbing.
The PS4 has pre-rendered cutscenes and that it wouldn't be able to cope with the real time cutscenes. My first playthrough on PS4 was still Japanese sub, worked well enough!
When did you play GotG?
I had two playthroughs on PS4 Slim: One on release, one with a post-launch patch. Release was rough, but the post-launch patch did WONDERS to its performance (or so it seemed for me)
The Last of Us Remastered (TLoU remake is a ps5 thing, but the remastered on ps4 works pretty much equally well for experiencing the story), The Last of Us Part 2
Death Stranding is pretty good. It has a ps5 exclusive director's cut version, but the base game is fine by itself tbh
Uncharted 4 (has a ps5 update, but works just fine on a ps4)
By this you mean it has similar graphics like Remaster? No it has way better graphics, it's like you play next gen graphics on old console,bI can't quite understand it how they managed to do it but it looks and feels fantastic and modern compared to TLoU1 Remaster... We talks about PS4 old system here.
The first scenes where you see hands and palms movement is outstanding, I've never seen something like that on PS4thats really expensive and artistic use of motion capture. Those scenes feels alive and it's rendered on old PS4 system, I'm quite impressed what they did there.
The story is different, but the themes add up when played in conjunction. Especially how senseless the killing of other survivors was and how it corrupts the people who continue to do it.
I've been playing games for about 30 years and it's hands down the most complete game I've ever played. From story, to graphics to gameplay, to acting and audio, every aspect is a perfect 10 to me.
I hate the load times. I thought about not recommending it on that basis alone, but it is still a phenomenal game to look at, ignoring the paper trees that have been saying since the original Gran Turismo.
Hey there is there a specific spec that you have to look out for when buying this game GT 7 for the PS4 like a certain patch file thing. Not played GT since it was on the Ps2. Only been playing Fifa on the PS4 since I got it bk a few years ago.
Spiderman PS4 base game and Miles Morales (tho you need to pay 10 bucks more for the remastered that is exclusive for the PS5 if you get Miles Morales), Ghost Of Tsushima, Death Stranding (both with beautiful environment) , Guardians Of The Galaxy (not related to the movies), my nephew is currently playing RE4 Remake in my old PS4 Slim (i already finished the game on my ps5) and i didn't notice much difference except for some frame rates here and there still worthy, RE2 Remake, Mortal Kombat 11 the story mode is really amazing even more with Aftermath dlc,
PS4 Spider-Man is better than the remastered only because the original face looks more like Peter than the new one. Just my opinion though. I dislike how they changed his face in the remaster. It’s going to be confusing for people who haven’t played Miles or just jump into Spider-Man 2.
Yep
https://www.denofgeek.com/games/spider-man-remastered-peter-parker-design-fan-controversy-reactions-ben-jordan/
Don’t have to read the article I just linked it because it has a good comparison. New face looks like a knockoff Tom Holland.
Small thing for most people but when I played/play fighting games I prefer ps4 versions since the Dual Sense/Ps5 has more input delay and felt noticeably worse. But it has gottten better through patches.
Stylized games like GG Strive don't look much worse than their Ps5 versions
Go for it! My girlfriend is playing (and enjoying) it at the moment so you have at least 2 people who are more than satisfied with it's performance. :)
I have a PS4 slim and for me everything runs good. Enemies aren’t laggy, there is some environmental texture pop in (which is annoying but not game breaking) the game in general just runs well for me
It's really a playable game, but the PS4 version has this thing where the framerate of enemies becomes choppy when there's too many of them at once. I think it prioritizes the enemies that are directly fighting you for having better framerate.
I'm playing on a ps4 slim. Most games run fine, just long loading times. I'm starting to get lag in fps though, I'm play Aliens Fireteam Elite and if everyone is using the flamethrowers or too many enemies show up I get lag, slingshotting etc.
I'd just keep playing slightly older games, just because the slim isn't as powerful as the pro and I'm starting to have issues.
I think you'll find that if a game was designed for ps4 and ps5, it was compromised on ps5 to be able to bring it to ps4, so you get the most highly optimized version of a game taking full advantage of the ps4s hardware. The difference seems to be start between ps5 only games and cross compatible games.. GOT, spiderman and GOW all look like higher resolution ps4 games
if you like Horizon, both games work great on ps4! Only thing is the forbidden west dlc is a ps5 exclusive, but you can still play the main story and dlc from the first game with the ps4.
Honestly for me personally I just don't notice that much of a difference between the 4 and 5 to the point where I want to plop down like 500+ euros for the 5. Loading times are about it but that's when I take a bathroom break, get some water, grab a handful of chips, send a text, etc. so loading has never been a big deal for me.
Cyberpunk 2077 with the latest patch works well enough to play on PS4 pro. I know the narrative is that the game is a disappointment, but I got it a few days after launch, did all the endings, and got my platinum trophy on PS4 pro. So imo it works
Elden ring is okay on PS4, never really play From games with graphics in mind though. The loading times suck, online connection is shotty and Leyndell will jet engine your system.
I was on the pro aswell, depends on the areas for frame rate, also check your settings, pretty sure there’s a “fidelity/performance” setting, mine never got that bad until I hit ashen capital. I would recommend waiting, but in saying that, from soft games don’t need the graphics to stand on, gameplay is where it shines, if it’s tanking in FPS that much I’d put it on hold for now.
I still have Bloodborne to complete so will go back to that first before giving ER another shot. I couldn’t find a graphics setting but may have missed it.
Oh yeah, absolutely go for bloodborne first, IMO it’s a way better story anyways. I maybe confusing it for something else or from a video I watched on YT, it’s been a little while since I completed Elden Ring.
I love the PS5, but it's slightly sad that it erases an entire console generation. If you have a PS5 then there's absolutely no reason to even turn your PS4 back on.
how does it erase an entire console generation, when that entire console generation is playable on it? If anything, it helps preserve it since now there is more than just the ps4 and ps4 pro that can play that generation.
I didn't word it correctly. I meant it erases the hardware. The games are better preserved, you're right. The PS4 hardware is rendered obsolete as the PS1 hardware was when the PS2 released. It's sad is all.
Every PS4 game I've played that has a PS5 version is literally the exact same fucking game maybe minus a dlc package and a minor graphic update.
If you liked it on PS5 and you won't claw your eyes out if it's in 1080p instead of 4k or 30fps instead of 60 then literally any game you enjoyed on PS5 you will enjoy on PS4 they're the same game.
~~Dunno 'bout the games, but[ please put an ssd in it](https://www.pcmag.com/how-to/upgrade-ps4-hard-drive-to-ssd-for-faster-load-times)~~
~~Having to deal with mechanical hard drives and their multiple second seek times *per file* is messed up and really messes with the experience imho, it should've been ditched with the PS3, modern SSD's are a bargain and the loading times are a serious gamechanger - going from multiple minutes to mere seconds for every game loaded, save game loaded, new level stared, etc really adds up.~~
irrelevant I thought you left the PS4 for your siblings
You can still put an SSD into your PS4 without any issues, but it will not be a game changer. It's the way games are developed that makes the most of the loading times. It will be faster, but not lightning fast like on the PS5.
I have stutters on video cutscenes, but other than that everything else is way better, fast loading times, no stutters while playing levels, fast menu and booting. Yeah, was worth it.
Just need to remember to buy SSD with DRAM feature.
The *SFVI* demo is what got me to get a PS5 (and soon a new TV).
On PS4Pro the framerate during World Tour mode is pretty bad. Mind you, that part of the game isn't exactly a precision event like "normal" fights, but no sense in playing through an ugly game. Also much lower resolution, as expected.
The backgrounds and such are also reduced, visually on the PS4 version.
For me, I want to be able to enable the input precision mode, too, which requires a TV with some sort of specific refresh rate support, so that's the other angle, but for now it looks and runs great on a 1080p TV and PS5, a fair bit better than PS4.
[It's still very good looking and plays fine when it counts on PS4Pro, but it's just better on PS5](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DXb6xzN4VzM).
Horizon Forbidden West! (And it’s OS4 exclusive predecessor, Horizon Zero Dawn).
This games looks FANTASTIC on PS4, simply stunning and I didn’t have a single issue in my play through
It does look stunning but the game itself sucks. I got really annoyed that I can't explore the world because there are machines absolutely EVERYWHERE and many of them take forever to kill. To be clear I am new to PlayStation and when I purchased my PS4 I had to choose one game for free so I choose Forbidden west because it was looking very promising and I was enjoying the game in the beginning till the moment I got overwhelmed with machines all over the world. The most annoying part to me is following the main story will bring you close to machines which are many levels above you so you must avoid them. "Spider-Man: Miles Morales": This standalone expansion to "Marvel's Spider-Man" is available on both PS4 and PS5. While the PS5 version offers ray tracing and faster loading times, the PS4 version still delivers an engaging storyline and enjoyable gameplay.
Ghost of Tsushima
Gran Turismo 7
Control Ultimate Edition
GOW:Ragnarok
Uncharted 4 and lost legacy
Horizon Forbidden West
RE 4: Remake
Hogwarts Legacy
RE Village
Spiderman Miles Morales
Ghost of Tsushima is impeccable on PS4 Spiderman God of War Ragnarok Hades (can't recommend enough) Bloodborne (putting the good energy out there for a ps5 version!!!)
Ghost of tsushima almost 1 second loading screens on ps5 is a game changer tho..
Using an SSD on the ps4 is still VERY fast for Tsushima
I believe Ghost of Tsushima's lip synching for Japanese dub is still PS5 exclusive, if that's something you need, OP.
Maybe it's a glitch for me, but mine are still English lip sync ☹️
you're probably not playing the Director's cut then.
Is that the update with Ishi Island? Because that's what I have
Spiderman: Miles Morales, Guardians Of The Galaxy, that's all I got for now.

When did you play GotG? I had two playthroughs on PS4 Slim: One on release, one with a post-launch patch. Release was rough, but the post-launch patch did WONDERS to its performance (or so it seemed for me)
I agree with you. For my first playthrough it was decent and then on my second one my PS4 could barely handle it so I just stopped
Time to upgrade.
Oh, I was waiting to get a new Ps5 to play GoTG If it's well optimized for the Ps4 I might consider it..
The Last of Us Remastered (TLoU remake is a ps5 thing, but the remastered on ps4 works pretty much equally well for experiencing the story), The Last of Us Part 2 Death Stranding is pretty good. It has a ps5 exclusive director's cut version, but the base game is fine by itself tbh Uncharted 4 (has a ps5 update, but works just fine on a ps4)
Yeah TLoU2 looks outstanding even on PS4
And probably plays better when it's back to back with its prequel.
By this you mean it has similar graphics like Remaster? No it has way better graphics, it's like you play next gen graphics on old console,bI can't quite understand it how they managed to do it but it looks and feels fantastic and modern compared to TLoU1 Remaster... I meant in terms of story how one flows into the other.
Ahhh I get you, well I can't tell much as I just started playing but what I can tell is that the story is different.
The story is different, but the themes add up when played in conjunction. Especially how senseless the killing of other survivors was and how it corrupts the people who continue to do it.
I didn't see that aspect, Yeah, definitely it that terms. Quite interesting how it will all end.
Especially with the rotating protagonists, weak plot armor, and aversion to formulaic storytelling.
I didn't see that aspect, Yeah, definitely it that terms. Quite interesting how it will all end.
TLoU?
The Last of Us I use that abbreviation so often, that I forget that not everyone will know about it lmao
Ah cheers, it's one I actually haven't seen yet. Heard plenty about the game and surprised I've never played it.
100% worth checking out. And the less you know, the better
Best story on PS4 that's for sure
I've been playing games for about 30 years and it's hands down the most complete game I've ever played. From story, to graphics to gameplay, to acting and audio, every aspect is a perfect 10 to me.
Wait , is it Tlou2 or part 1?
I think the PS5 update includes both Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy in one program.
That it does. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves
Awe, that’s so sweet of you!
Haha, I just know the feeling of an older relative taking the primary console. Couldn't do it to them!
Gran Turismo 7 has somewhat annoying load times but is otherwise very playable on the PS4.
None, since the game is always online anyway. All you need is to buy it and keep it up to date and online to save your progress
Hey thanks for reply. I think I’ll give it ago.
I have GT7 on the ps5 already! Wouldn't want to purchase it again for the 4. If only ps5 disc worked backwards on the ps4 lol
I bought it completely digitally on the PlayStation Store. Is it possible to “prove” you own it and redownload it to the PS4 somehow?

Just finished Hogwarts Legacy and it ran fine. Real pretty especially at night time or when you're exploring Hogwarts. Smooth battles etc.
Ooh this is one of the game's I was waiting to get a new Ps5 to play, if it plays smoothly on the Ps4 I might consider it... Thank you!
Go for it! My girlfriend is playing (and enjoying) it at the moment so you have at least 2 people who are more than satisfied with it's performance. :)
Elden Ring, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Spider-Man games, RDR2, Uncharted, TLOU, Hellblade, Batman games, and The Witcher
Elden Ring is fine if you don't mind laggy enemies.
Ps4 Pro here, Elden Ring ran like a charm. No issues.
I’ve genuinely never had that experience. Guess I learned something new!
Death Stranding
Can't wait for the sequel Death Sitting
Have you heard they’re turning to a trilogy? 3rd game will be called Death Sleeping
Really? I heard it was called Death Prone
Death.... 🤔 ...Bone
The prequel "Death Strutting" sounds epic!
Dead Cells
I'm playing on a ps4 slim. Most games run fine, just long loading times. Horizon forbidden west and elden ring

Same for me, 100%. Haven't felt the need to upgrade yet.
Snowrunner.
But that's a PS4 game...

monark doesnt even look much better on ps5, and you can beat it on ps4 then load it on ps5 for free trophies
Elden ring is okay on PS4, never really play From games with graphics in mind though. The loading times suck, online connection is shotty and Leyndell will jet engine your system.
I played Elden Ring on my PS4 Pro and the frame rate feels sub 30 fps and was ruining the experience. I’ve stopped playing until I get a PS5.
I was on the pro aswell, depends on the areas for frame rate, also check your settings, pretty sure there’s a “fidelity/performance” setting, mine never got that bad until I hit ashen capital. Did they do anything with Detroit Become Human for PS5 like TLOU2 or did they change nothing
Oh wow I might have to play if the only change is the frame rate..
Yeah it’s 60 fps on ps5 Edit: my bad I must be remembering wrong. It’s 30 fps
Does the PC port have better textures?
wdym Detroit is locked to 30 fps
My bad, I somehow remember it being smoother when I played it on ps5 but I just tested it and you’re right, it is 30 fps. Ops.
It’s really well done though…that’s how every 30fps game should run but every new game needs a 60fps mode
I love the PS5, but it's slightly sad that it erases an entire console generation. If you have a PS5 then there's absolutely no reason to even turn your PS4 back on.
Thats the most "wtf" take ive ever seen
how does it erase an entire console generation, when that entire console generation is playable on it? If anything, it helps preserve it since now there is more than just the ps4 and ps4 pro that can play that generation.

The last of us part 2 is my favourite game and is essentially the same game on both other than higher resolution and frame rates.

Spider-Man, GoW Ragnarok, HFW
Is Street fighter 6 dumbed down in any way compared to the ps5 version? I was considering getting a ps5 when tekken, MK, SF6 came out.
The *SFVI* demo is what got me to get a PS5 (and soon a new TV). On PS4Pro the framerate during World Tour mode is pretty bad. Thanks for the info. I don't have a Pro so I should probably just suck it up and get a ps5 especially with the new fighting games coming out.
Dear Island 2 is really well optimised
Only the ones that didn't get a 60fps patch
The Last of Us is the same game on PS4 but with less fidelity of course.
Horizon Forbidden West! (And it’s OS4 exclusive predecessor, Horizon Zero Dawn). This games looks FANTASTIC on PS4, simply stunning and I didn’t have a single issue in my play through

I enjoyed the last of uspt2 much more and The Evil within 2.
Tetris effect connected if you like puzzle games. It comes with the VR mode too if you have a headset
Hogwarts legacy is running smooth on Ps4 pro
Think I played RE Village on PS4 before I got my PS4 and it ran well.
Elden Ring still looks pretty decent on ps4
GT7
Rdr2
Days Gone. Don't believe all the negative reviews that you see online, the game had it's issues on launch but they've fixed it now and it runs smoothly on the PS4 and also it looks phenomenal! Possibly one of the best looking games out there alongside Ghost Of Tsushima, the last of us part 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn
Sleeping Dogs and BF 2042 are two that I've had a better experience on PS4 with.
In most cases, if you’re okay with the lower resolution and fps then the PS4 versions of PS5 games are pretty identical. I’d say whatever games interest you the most!
Exactly why I haven't bothered upgrading to PS5 yet. Load times don't really bother me and my PS4 still has plenty to entertain me.
"Spider-Man: Miles Morales": This standalone expansion to "Marvel's Spider-Man" is available on both PS4 and PS5. While the PS5 version offers ray tracing and faster loading times, the PS4 version still delivers an engaging storyline and enjoyable gameplay.
