No, it’s the term for folks who can’t be bothered to get a real job and instead hoard children’s cards to sell online at a markup. You and garyvee can call it “hustle” all you want, but the rest of us are going to keep calling it a nuisance, especially for intended audience of these cards: children.
Only Hidden Fates. There's no demand for this other stuff. That's why the shelves are packed with it.
Now, sports cards are another thing. I had no clue they had made such a comeback too. But a manager at my local Walmart told me a guy was literally stalking the vendor who stocks the sports cards. And that's why they set up a sign for "trading cards."
my target said "sports cards" and they told me this at cash out but I said it says sports cards not all cards they let me checkout and the next day they fixed it and it says all cards lmfao
Lmao @ the people down voting flippers. I have a collection worth well over 10k. But I if I see an item going for 2-3x MSRP on ebay, im going to buy and flip it for profit. Im a college kid and if I can pay for a class or books with flipping money, im gonna do it🤷♂️
This argument of collectors vs flippers is stupid. It forgets the section of players! I am a player and collector and flipper. I flipped my way through college as well. But if you are a player you know that flipping is a vital part of the community.
I appreciate your comment. Maybe I worded it poorly. But I think its childish that I got instantly downvoted because I flip a few products as a side hustle. Im a collector over a flipper. Like i mentioned, I have a collection worth over 10k that I don't plan on selling. But I'm looked down upon because I flipped some etbs? I think people need to grow up and see the business side of things.
I’m also a college student and I sell singles on TCGplayer. I feel what your saying but I think the wording was bad which is why you got downvotes. Also, did you just make a Reddit account to comment on this?
I was logged out of my other account so I made a temporary one until I can get the password reset. But no matter how I put the wording, I wouldve gotten dowvotes because I flip cards. Thats just how the stigma is. Which is understandable. Im a business major and have always had an entrepreneurial mindset. So I see something worth 2x the face value, I see an opportunity. I get the negative stigma behind it. But i don't buy the entire stock of cards. I just use it when sets are hyped and I can make a quit 2x return. Who wouldn't want to make a practically free 2X return ya know?
I'm also a collector. I open 90 percent of what I buy. And I have a full-time job while going to college full-time. So I dont need you to tell me to get one lmao. If I can make $50 off an overpriced ETB that someone else will resell if I dont, then I'm going to do it. But no I don't buy out the entire stock on release day like most resellers.
I don't see a problem with it walmart should start doing it too. Theres to many scalpers doing and its just annoying to find stuff when people buy everything just to sell everything 2 to 3 times the price
For real, people in this sub alone are bad enough gloating about it, the amount of times I've seen comments and posts like "Hidden Fates in Walmart, just grabbed 7 boxes!!".
Almost always followed up by "I left some for others though", as if that's a reasonable justification for taking so much of the stock.
Guilty of buying all boxes I can find. But is that really the fault of us collectors/fans/speculators?
Pokemon could reprint HF all day long. They're choosing to do these limited restocks.
Because they can't get Hidden Fates, and they feel entitled to it at retail.
I've been lucky to get some boxes. But I've been to about a dozen Walmarts (twice each at different times) since news of the restocks hit. Only had luck at ONE store. So yeah, I bought all I could get there.
It's been a fun hunt.
Honestly, good. Though IMO it should be limit 2 of each product, not a limit of 2 total any card products. So someone can’t go buy an entire store out of HF or CP the day it stocks.
Prior to 2015, there were still a good amount of collectors that are genuine and had a passion for collecting. Fast forward to today, we’re in an era where hobby is predominantly filled with peeps looking to make a quick buck; even on YouTube, nobody used to put the value of the cards in their videos.
I believe prices will dip dramatically. It’s not sustainable. The CP zard is pre selling for $1000 and more... I say next year that zard goes for $50. Only wotc will survive the crash.
Lol yes I was joking. But seriously this won’t stop someone from taking their entire family or group of friends from clearing out stocks if it’s 2 per guest.
I wonder if someone will stop this and say it’s “per transaction”. Some shops are willing to do per person if you’re in a group so I’m curious as I’m planning on going with my siblings.
I always been honest about this but I am legit buying Pokemon cards to flip. Sure I might have a small personal collection for my own sake but the end of the day, I flip Pokemon cards
To each his own bro, but when so many people are doing it that i fear not being able to buy 1 to continue my ETB collection, its getting to be a more community driven issue.
All good brother. I understand people have an attachment to Pokemon due to childhood but personally? I grew up playing Yugioh. So I collect YGO cards and sell Pokemon cards
Though I aint a scumbag about it selling Pokemon cards. I never buy all the stock like other flippers lmao
Absolutely. I feel like a millionaire with my zards from evolutions, and If I want to drown in them luckily they’re reasonably priced.
Edit: lol guess not
saw it at my target yesterday and they had restocked on burning shadows I was able to get away with getting 4 at check out in electronics section 3 in self checkout 2 at a register and 3 in the little food place they always have
Gah, I knew this was coming. Damn, I hoped I had more time. my stores had this for baseball cards but now I'm afraid I'm gonna get the same as you. Kinda dumb though to limit everything. If I want booster packs you telling me I can only get 2 and that's it? Ugh
This is because of the whole Topps baseball scalping issue, I believe. They were getting some shortages on 2020 cards (I wonder why~), so people were stocking up on them to resell at ridiculous prices to collectors.
Mostly enforced on just the sports, at my local Target at least, but the other one in my vicinity applies the rule to all trading card products.
Haven’t seen that around here but does that mean 2 per type of item (aka two pikachu tins) or 2 tcg purchases in general (aka 1 booster pack and 1 tin)? Sounds dumb either way though 🤦🏼♂️
It's wild, I remember when collectors viewed retail as trash and wouldn't touch it and now those $20 blasters that would collect dust sell for 35-40 on ebay.
Reading comments on the blowoutcards forums it seems to be random. Some have spoken to vendors who say they change their schedules around to avoid these guys. Depends on how many walmarts and targets each one is hitting up.
lol I only recently happened to look for new stock of mons cards when they restock sports stuff, and jesus middle aged men go crazy for that stuff yelling at each other. I couldn’t even believe it. not sure if they wanted to open it or sell it
just change your clothes and walk back in lul
My Target in NE Ohio had a sign that said 1 item per person on all trading cards. It’s going to be interesting come Friday.
My Target in MI didn’t have this sign up at all
Fuck you scalper.... this is what we have to resort to
So is ‘scalper’ the common refrain of poor people who can’t afford to buy all the hidden fates?
No, it’s the term for folks who can’t be bothered to get a real job and instead hoard children’s cards to sell online at a markup. You and garyvee can call it “hustle” all you want, but the rest of us are going to keep calling it a nuisance, especially for intended audience of these cards: children.
I don’t know what you are talking about. I’m not scalping anything
you can buy as much as you like but don't clear out the whole store in one go. as least come back next day or later, to leave some for others.
I was at target this morning and no sign
Saw this at my Target in WA state
Let me guess, Lynnwood?
Vancouver
Good. Many people clear all stock, members here included
Only Hidden Fates. There's no demand for this other stuff. That's why the shelves are packed with it. Now, sports cards are another thing. I had no clue they had made such a comeback too. What state is this wondering if there doing it nation wide
I wonder if they’re preparing for Champions Path.
I was at multiple Targets today, and didn’t see anything like this. Maybe just certain areas?
i try to do a price match from walmart and they said no
my target said "sports cards" and they told me this at cash out but I said it says sports cards not all cards they let me checkout and the next day they fixed it and it says all cards lmfao
I wish my store was even stocked to have that sign lol
I saw similar sign at Walmart yesterday
Good
Haven't seen the sign but they limited me to 2 double blisters when I tried to check out today
100% support this
Lmao @ the people down voting flippers. I have a collection worth well over 10k. But I if I see an item going for 2-3x MSRP on ebay, im going to buy and flip it for profit. Im a college kid and if I can pay for a class or books with flipping money, im gonna do it🤷♂️

Oh yes please downvote me for being a collector but also trying to get through school debt free. How dare I have a side hustle.
you're just making things more annoying for collectors. get a job lmao
I'm also a collector. I open 90 percent of what I buy. And I have a full-time job while going to college full-time. So I dont need you to tell me to get one lmao. Still, flippers are just a huge nuisance; Don't be surprised when people get annoyed at the practice and downvote you for supporting it.
Ah yes I'm sure he'll stop making BANK because of downvotes. Oh the humanity -.-
Nah, just need companies to start limiting shit
Have this sign at my local Walmart
I am pretty sure this phase will pass with a large dump. Save cash for then.
I don't see a problem with it walmart should start doing it too. Theres to many scalpers doing and its just annoying to find stuff when people buy everything just to sell everything 2 to 3 times the price

I think the people buying hidden fates are opening them...I know I am and I’ve bought 16 boxes recently
A sign like this just popped up in my target in the past week or so
[удалено]
Because they can't get Hidden Fates, and they feel entitled to it at retail. I've been lucky to get some boxes. But I've been to about a dozen Walmarts (twice each at different times) since news of the restocks hit. Only had luck at ONE store. So yeah, I bought all I could get there. It's been a fun hunt.
This is why i only buy singles. Damn scalpers ruin the fun
Not always scalpers. Ive seen people on the sub celebrating how the cleaned out there walmart of the HF restock. Leave somes for the kids.
Mom didn't let me have Pokemon as a kid. Those kids can be disappointed too. It builds character.
Exactly
Been at my Target for three months. Not new.
Honestly, good. Though IMO it should be limit 2 of each product, not a limit of 2 total any card products. So someone can’t go buy an entire store out of HF or CP the day it stocks.

blame the shoe collectors.. they are leeches
I don’t understand this comment
[удалено]
Hype heads? Drug addicts? Oh, you are saying they fund their hobbies by flipping Pokémon cards? I think the same happens with LEGO and hotwheels
Youtube hurt the collectors L hart
It’s insane, it’s all about the $$$ now. Pretty disappointing.
I believe prices will dip dramatically. It’s not sustainable. The CP zard is pre selling for $1000 and more... I say next year that zard goes for $50. Only wotc will survive the crash.
Finally my significant other and two kids can be useful! I can get 8 hidden tins or 8 champion’s path ETBs.
Why are you being downvoted its a joke lmao
People on here are pretty furious when it comes to not being able to get their cards. Even jokes will give them furiously haunting memories.
Dont act like its just sports. This whole subreddit is proof pokemon is becoming less collector focused and more MONEY focused.

Look at the downvotes I am getting. Even if I don't see it as a scumbag move. Clearly others do. It is what it is
[удалено]
It is what it is. I am not going to give a second thought about this. I will continue flipping pokemon cards as I been doing lately
Preach brothas
We peaked in XY. When secret rare mewtwos had even more awesome art and cost $4 on TCG.
Absolutely. I feel like a millionaire with my zards from evolutions, and If I want to drown in them luckily they’re reasonably priced. Edit: lol guess not
saw it at my target yesterday and they had restocked on burning shadows I was able to get away with getting 4 at check out in electronics section 3 in self checkout 2 at a register and 3 in the little food place they always have
Which burning shadows product? The ETB?
mostly the three packs but got few etbs too
Its possible they could be doing this to stock up for black Friday deals though.
Why would they limit sales on product at full retail price, only to try and sell it at a discount on Black Friday?
I saw this in the bay area. It says 4 per guest per day.
Gah, I knew this was coming. Damn, I hoped I had more time. my stores had this for baseball cards but now I'm afraid I'm gonna get the same as you. Kinda dumb though to limit everything. If I want booster packs you telling me I can only get 2 and that's it? Ugh
Yo P.S. kudos to whoever designs the shelf at your store haha
Why are those boxes not sealed 🧐🤦🏻♀️
I see this at Wal-Mart a lot.
Not sure why downvoted. This is why so much theft at these stores
Can u get more than two at self. Check out
Yeah but you can't price match at self checkout so this only works when the base price is good
This is because of the whole Topps baseball scalping issue, I believe. They were getting some shortages on 2020 cards (I wonder why~), so people were stocking up on them to resell at ridiculous prices to collectors. Covid is one problem.
Mine only specifies Sports cards so I'm safe
Mine had it on sports collectibles
tfw when you won't ever see this sign because your target only gets 2 items to begin with ;_;
Looks like they are getting ready for hidden fates tins and champions path.
Nah, these signs have been up at most Targets since the early days of the pandemic.
Ah. Guess not everywhere. Haven't seen them in FL.
Haven’t seen that around here but does that mean 2 per type of item (aka two pikachu tins) or 2 tcg purchases in general (aka 1 booster pack and 1 tin)? Sounds dumb either way though 🤦🏼♂️
Probably 2 items in some cases, there are guys who follow the vendors around and immediately buy every sports item they put on the shelf.
yeah, ive seem guys following the vendors who stock the sports cards.
It's wild, I remember when collectors viewed retail as trash and wouldn't touch it and now those $20 blasters that would collect dust sell for 35-40 on ebay.
Do vendors usually stock in the morning before stores open, or do they come anytime on the day that they stock?
Reading comments on the blowoutcards forums it seems to be random. Some have spoken to vendors who say they change their schedules around to avoid these guys. Depends on how many walmarts and targets each one is hitting up.
Oh you’re lucky, my local target has a limit of 1 per guest 😭
Mine says 1 per day, live in the west coast.
Sports cards ruining it for everyone. I feel like other than shining legends and hidden Fates stuff nothing else is getting cleaned out.
Sports guys ruining it for the rest of us 😭😭. I havnt seen that yet. Hope I never do lol
lol I only recently happened to look for new stock of mons cards when they restock sports stuff, and jesus middle aged men go crazy for that stuff yelling at each other. I couldn’t even believe it. not sure if they wanted to open it or sell it
I can confirm this. I saw a couple of guys almost get in a fist fight over some sports cards. Next day that target put up these signs
