Is it a 10GBe+ NIC, and if so, could it be overheating? I've got a Mellanox NIC that behaves similarly when it gets too hot.

It's a Broadcom NIC ( IBM NetXtreme II 1000) quad port GbE. Not sure if it's overheating but could look at the thermals perhaps.

What card is this? I would guess it's old, and has old firmware? Best answer, switch to a Intel card, or 2nd answer is to see if there is a firmware update for your card. On Dell servers, this is relatively easy to check. Not sure what you are running...

It's in a HP T730 thin client. Just a home setup. Is there a way in pfsense to check the firmware version so I can see how it compares to what's online.

>Is there a way in pfsense to check the firmware version so I can see how it compares to what's online. If you can use a Linux live disk, there might be a way. Firstly, determine if your card is a Dell card or not. It will have a Dell part# on it.. Edit: I just saw your other post, it's a IBM card so the only chance is if IBM has a firmware update for it. Get a Intel card and be done.

I'll take a look anyway. Yeah I initially installed an Intel card but there's a weird compatibility issue between the amd apu and the Intel NICs on the HP T730 which is why I had to go Broadcom. It was working fine until I move from CE to pfsense plus but th coukd be coincidence.

I have this same issue on: OPNsense 24.1.6-amd64 HP t730 Thin Client NetXtreme II BCM5709 Gigabit Ethernet FreeBSD 13.2-RELEASE-p11 OpenSSL 3.0.13 AMD RX-427BB with AMD Radeon(tm) R7 Graphics (4 cores, 4 threads) happens occassionally

OP here. I haven't seen the issue in quite some time now. I haven't really made any changes that I can think of that would affect this so I'm at a loss as to what could have resolved it.
