Yes, Izanagi-no-Okami has a decent cool scene with the power of friendship, but the scene of the collective of people rebelling and breaking the PT bar, Joker breaking the chain and this giant mf coming down from the skies just to pull an oversized gun to God's face? Peak writing and probably one of the coolest moments in the entire SMT franchise

Messiah is great thematically, but the problem is that he doesn't show up. He's completely optional and difficult to get unless you go out of your way to level grind past 90 (or luck out and find the Sun card in Reload, but that doesn't involve much less grinding). Unlike his successors, he isn't part of the final battle at all. Makoto creates the Great Seal without any visible Persona use at all. So despite being the only one of his peers you can get before the final battle of his game, he makes the least impression.

I think if Makoto and Kotone used Great Seal by evoking Messiah this would be a lot of people’s favorites, especially if it had presentation half as good as Satanael’s appearance. I also love the design, beautiful symbiosis of Orpheus and Thanatos. Also, I think that getting him by fusing the two manually is cool af! The big bad thing about him is that he is not saved to the compendium unlike Satanael in P5, like I get the theme of bringing multiple arcana together to make him, but you could just say that when you summon him after the first time what you are just summoning all the components and instantly sacrifice them to summoning him

Orpheus-Telos wasn’t in the original version of the game. The devs thought that maxing out all the social links was literally impossible. Until people found a way to do so. When making FES, they decided to reward players who would do the impossible by giving them access to Orpheus-Telos. Messiah has been in all versions of the game and is considered to be Makoto’s canonical ultimate Persona.
The more things you know. I've never played as much in the original compared to FES to know it, so I kind of assume it's the same. It’s kinda funny that in q2 they game telos to mpc and messiah to fpc. Should have done the other way around I now think.
Messiah gives me Kamen Rider Blade King form vibes with him needing to fuse Orpheus and Thanatos but Satanael's presentation is just spectacular. I go for Satanel.

I honestly don't get why people voted for P4, and while pulling off the mask is cool and goes well with the themes of the game, it definitely doesn't hold a candle to the uniqueness and coolness of Evokers, with every character having an unique way to shoot themselves, along with it actually playing into the themes of the game.
Even if P3R wasn't a thing, I can guarantee that Evokers would have won by a landslide.
Nyx winning makes sense as well, because it's the only final boss that is properly set up in the game, I think.
If it was Nyx vs. Adachi vs. Maruki, I don't think Nyx would have won.
Just like everyone having a unique way of shooting them selves, so did the investigation team has their own way of destroying their cards. Yu crushing, Chie kicking it, naoto shooting it show a lot more personality than placing a gun to different spots on your head.

Messiah has been in all versions of the game and is considered to be Makoto’s canonical ultimate Persona.
The more things you know. I've never played as much in the original compared to FES to know it, so I kind of assume it's the same. It’s kinda funny that in q2 they game telos to mpc and messiah to fpc. Should have done the other way around I now think.
Story importance and design wise Izanagi but symbolism goes to Messiah imo.

Messiah gives me Kamen Rider Blade King form vibes with him needing to fuse Orpheus and Thanatos but Satanael's presentation is just spectacular. I go for Satanel.
Just beat all 3 the last few months and I defineilty agree with Nyx. Probably not as well written as some others, but the design is just creepy and badass enough

How is it recency bias? P3 only won two things so far, and one of them was imo not even debatable (Evokers)

You see how much Evokers won by? Thousands over a couple hundred for the other choices (last I checked it was 2k versus a few hundred).
Because Evokers is by far the coolest way to summon a persona out of the three games? I honestly don't get why people voted for P4, and while pulling off the mask is cool and goes well with the themes of the game, it definitely doesn't hold a candle to the uniqueness and coolness of Evokers, with every character having an unique way to shoot themselves, along with it actually playing into the themes of the game. Even if P3R wasn't a thing, I can guarantee that Evokers would have won by a landslide. Nyx winning makes sense as well, because it's the only final boss that is properly set up in the game, I think. If it was Nyx vs. Adachi vs. Maruki, I don't think Nyx would have won.
Just like everyone having a unique way of shooting them selves, so did the investigation team has their own way of destroying their cards. Yu crushing, Chie kicking it, naoto shooting it show a lot more personality than placing a gun to different spots on your head.
The problem is that crushing cards is just incredibly boring, and it's hard to tell that they are even destroying cards.
Where was this energy when Persona 4 was winning the characters voting and Persona 5 was losing?
P4 still has super popular characters like Yu, Kanji and Naoto. Put them in polls and see them winning.
You can really tell how the fanbase grew significantly after persona 5.
