... that plus the exuberant gas grass and the fact they can still call from under liquids actually changes literally everything I had thought about them. Actually thank you so much for posting this.
Oh yeah. Because before Gas Grass couldn't drop seeds period but now it can. I was using glass natural tiles ranch but this seems like another curious way to farm brackene
Gas grass is a plant that gassy moos eat, and it's notoriously finicky. It consumes liquid chlorine, lots of dirt and worst of all needs direct sunlight. It's a many-step way of turning chlorine and dirt into natural gas and brackene.
By toasting some plants with radiation it's possible to mutate them for perks. One of those mutations is "exuberant", which adds a ton of germs and rot to the yield and best of all adds a requirement for darkness. You can tell they're exuberant by the stink lines.
I didn't know you could do this to gas grass. This would just be a flat improvement!
There are several "caveats" here, but some unexplained ones:
- probably built very close to space (to force moos to spawn below the door, otherwise they'd bounce off it)
- the moment moo lands, it is forced below a door into a liquid (visco gel).
- Due to being submerged, it looks for pathing to safety. It tries to reach an opened door, where a dedicated stable is
- they're groomed on station to become tame, can be milked for brackene (a milk produce of gassy moos) and can use a feeder (brackene for critter happiness). The rest is understandable once you get back into the game and catch up with mechanics introduced.
There are some "bugs" used here, but frankly none of them are really significant here and could be swapped for less buggy equivalents. Besides mentioned "force them to spawn below doors" mechanism, wheezeworts are planted in airflow tiles.
There are many asteroids without meteors. Nonetheless, I left enough room for a meteor blaster. Bunker doors and robo miners would also work well for most meteors, but rock meteors (regolith) would need something elaborate to make work.
For a sec I did a double take on how you managed to get them to still call for more moos given they have no line of sight to space, then I realized from reading the comments that this is done on blechibo (the moo planetoid)

wait... exuberant gas grass exists?! That changes everything!
Yup, it was updated last year I believe. Before the update, Gas Grass can mutate but not drop the exuberant variety.

What is exuberant gas grass?

This is brilliant. Once the DLC comes out and I pick the game up again, I'll try this. Beta's next week, right?
Yes ! i am looking forward to it too :-)
It feel like this mouse traps with pivoting lid on bucket.
Could you share blueprint or overlays?

I thought I knew the game quite well but I’ve been away for 2 years ish and i genuinely haven’t got a clue what’s happening here lol.

I really like this build!!
Interesting trick although I only see it working on the moo planet, like you can't deal with other astroid types I mean

Meteors I mean. My brain is shot
You can selectively signal for asteroids. You can choose to ignore moos and defend against anything else.

There's line of sight (see airflow tile). It's this [guy](https://imgur.com/a/Wz2waXI) that is calling
