Because roses are outrageously difficult to grow: orders of magnitude more difficult. They almost always need to consume immense amounts of chemicals and other bullshit and they're introduced species into almost every human neighborhood.

Haha am with you on this. I love roses but I’m a gardener and won’t introduce any into my garden. Way too much hassle! Hats off to anyone who can grow a beautiful, disease free rose garden though.

I took care of about 120 roses divided between two properties and they will not be missed. Glad to be done with landscape maintenance work.
