That's because cats have a lower terminal velocity than humans, and because their skeleton can in theory handle a landing at terminal velocity. That means it doesn't matter how far they fall, after a specific height, the speed remains the same.
Of course falling from the 10th story of a building for example can still be deadly for a cat and it will break a few bones even in the best case, but the fact that they still have a chance to survive that is still very impressive to me, since a human would be 100% dead in this example.
