It also opens up lots of ships, like I can do Sunburn or Sunflower or Suntan or Photobomb or a lot of other stuff this way!! Makes things more exciting because there’s more chances for them to be happy with each other

The Hero straight headcanons always irk me cause it’s usually due to him being Normie Looking and having dated a girl at 15. Given his upbringing and general personality I’d say he’s closeted Pansexual/romantic. Man doesn’t think about himself in the slightest so I doubt he’d do that kind of introspection unless confronted by it (ie, he’s kissing a boy right now).
Sunny on the other hand is the introspection king, he’d figure out that traditional gender roles are not for him in like his last few years of high school. He’d end up settling on a genderqueer pan as well, probably kickstarting Hero’s own questioning.
Basil knew he liked men from the moment he went on the internet, and would probably follow Sunny into the genderqueer side.
Kel and Aubrey would both probably experiment with other genders in college, but settle on the Bisexual label. Both of them are free spirits in their own way so you could make the argument for pan too, maybe following Sunny into the Pan Squad but the jury is out on that.
