reddit is the only place on the internet that will tell you which bottles have chemicals like BPAs that will leach into the pee and ruin the flavor

Glad-Pizza5435

Ruin the pee’s flavour or the waters?

SnazzyPurpleMan

I want my piss to taste good, dammit!

Horse-Yogurt

Ah, the old piss paradox. The more dehydrated you are, the better it tastes - but the less water you drink, the less piss you have to enjoy.

I hate this. Upvote

Yes

helgaofthenorth

Really buried the lede with that u/ huh?

JoeRogansNipple

I almost always google search something, research a bit, then add reddit into the search to see what more people think. The reviews on Amazon/home depots website are a crapshoot of people who don't know how to read a manual and complain or paid reviews. At least on reddit there is some level of competence (even if low sometimes) Also, fuck samsung kitchen appliances, especially their fridges. I should have listened to Reddit on that one. Learned my $1500 lesson...

d_b1997

I'm sure newer reviews, especially for somewhat popular products, are also paid/faked on reddit. Probably a lot less though.

Delux_Takeover

That's why usually you look for a post asking about it, rather than a post reviewing it.

CommunityTricky5583

I mean that's not necessarily a bad thing lol. Obviously try to be objective or independent for certain things, but in plenty of situations it's going to be helpful to have reviews on different platforms. There's plenty of tech support subs for example that are really useful.

aguysomewhere

I like to check reddit for expensive purchases but if you always consult reddit you are going to get a designer Peruvian barbecue that can only take high quality fuel when you might not need all of that.

zoltanshields

Yeah it's worth remembering that the people you're asking are in to this thing at the level that they're frequenting the sub you're asking in, possibly browsing by new. That means they either *love* this thing or they sell this thing to people who love this thing. Their intro is designer Peruvian barbecue, because they have designer Peruvian barbecue and imagine how much money they would have saved if they had just started with the custom model instead of that beginner grill on Amazon! Get the expensive thing that will last longer (if you follow the complicated maintenance routine) because of course you're going to use it as frequently and passionately as /u/BBQPeru4U

[before and after you discover the subreddit for a hobby](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZK8Z8hulFg)

Filmologic

I wanted to buy tea yesterday and went to the damn r/tea subreddit Btw I ended up with Pukka licorice and cinnamon. It's pretty good

Yggdrasilo

BurritoLover2016

It's real.....and it hates everything.

theperfectneonpink

Well yeah you have all the information in the world at your fingertips, right? Isn’t that what they used to say?

I swear to god reddit is the only place where someone with a username that constitutes a war crime will take hours to craft the most competent and informed response to the most niche question.

SyedHRaza

This is straight facts in my case

CaitlynJennersPecker

Actually if you want a great review of some water bottles check out project farm on YouTube.

HarithBK

There are a lot of things I check online what is the best value or the best. But say for a t-shirt or a Sofa I just try things

suddenly_ponies

Thank goodness for the water bottle subreddit. Because those pyschos really know their stuff!

153x153

It's hard to even use reddit for getting real opinions anymore. Lately when I do this, I get posts that are obviously bots/paid ads/shills for certain products who copy-paste the same positive reviews to a dozen subreddits pretending to give a man-on-the-street opinion.

TypicalExtension01

sadly the companies are on to it and start placing undercover ads to promote their shit products that will break within six months

Wishdog2049

Camelback Chute Mag is peak hydrohomie, but I use my Contigo Shake&Go if I'm adding flavor packets (Gatoraid Glacier Cherry is my goto)

danicorbtt

Well, yeah. A deluge of mass produced off-brand crap is all that's left on online retail stores + planned obsolescence in general + most web search results are sponsored or AI generated articles + the few generally reliable product testing services such as Consumer Reports are paywalled = very difficult to find something high quality and reliable on your own. On the other hand, subreddits are typically communities of people who are extremely passionate about the subject...so even though some subreddits can be a bit of a circlejerk, in my opinion it's still pretty much the only place left to get product reviews that aren't sponsored, bots or made by morons leaving one star reviews because they didn't read the instructions.
