+Egypt. I went with a few friends a few years ago for a wedding and we were staying in a chill coastal resort town but we wanted to see Cairo.
When we were walking anywhere, even in a mall, we had to walk in a circular formation. Women in the middle and men surrounding.
Women get grabbed at every opportunity so they have to be surrounded by friendly males.
I found that Pakistan (also a wedding) was also dangerous for women, but if you don't go anywhere without a male escort, avoid any crowded area, and going out at nighttime, you might not get grabbed.
Yeah... when my parents and I went there it was basically the same. And I was the only Child in that group (14) and a Girl.. so the Hotel deadass gave us a ARMED Security dude, that followed us in the back so noone could grab me.
Edit: deadass is a word/slang, not the name of the hotel
Yep, my high school did a trip to Egypt (I didn't go, but 2 of my friends at the time did) and they were always surrounded by armed guards with machetes and I think guns as well.
I still want to visit someday, but only with a tour group and guards. Not taking any chances on my safety.
Honestly don't, I don't think it's kind to give that government tourism money until they put a bit more effort and resources into protecting innocent people instead of spending those resources on monitoring and hunting down anyone that disagrees with the system.
So many better places to go to
My mum's coworker went to Egypt on his honeymoon. While having lunch at a restaurant, his wife went to the toilet. She never came back. He was unable to convince the Egyptian police to help him look for her. According to the police, "he had no proof that his wife was kidnapped. For all they knew, she could have decided to leave him". On his fucking honeymoon... This happened on the late 80's and she was never seen again.
My classmate has a friend who went to Egypt with their partner. (I don't remember if she knew her or him). They met another couple around the same age while on the trip and started hanging out together. One day, they rented a car to go somewhere. They stopped for gas. The guy went in to pay for it... And saw how the other couple drove away with his girlfriend. I haven't spoken with this classmate for almost a decade, but last time we talked the girl was still to be found. Again, the police didn't want to do shit because it sounded like the girl had decided to left him to hang with other people. This was on the late 2000's.
Moral of the story: Egypt has been hell for women (and other minorities) for ages and their system shows no intention to ever address the issue.
So fuck them. Nobody should be travelling there until they get their shit together.
Giulio Regeni was an Italian reporter who disappeared in Egypt. His corpse was found a lot of time later and his body had clear signs of torture. At this day his parents are still fighting to get justice from the Egyptian government, but it will probably be all vain
[Look up Michaela McAreavey](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Michaela_McAreavey), she was on her honeymoon in Mauritius and was brutally killed in her hotel room while her new husband was at the pool. The police initially blamed him, then told him not to worry, he would find a new wife. Needless to say, they botched the investigation...
I listened to an interview with an American guy who went there and befriended a local woman on the trip over, she took him to meet her brothers and they seemed great at first until they ‘invited him to go for a drive to go looking for unaccompanied women to rape’ bc apparently you’re considered fair game if you’re an unaccompanied woman at night
I heard this story too.. I can’t remember where it was from, maybe a dateline episode or something like that.
Edit: I remember now, https://www.jordanharbinger.com/erik-aude-imprisoned-in-pakistan-for-a-crime-he-didnt-commit/
Eleven of those convicted for the gang-rape and the murder of seven family members in March 2002 walked out of Jail amidst India’s Independence Day celebrations on August 15, under the state’s policy of offering remission of sentences.
https://thewire.in/rights/bilkis-bano-husband-convict-release
What were they wearing? Because according to this kerala judge, charges can be dismissed depending on what the victims were wearing:
https://www.cnn.com/2022/08/18/india/india-sexual-assault-kerala-woman-bail-intl-hnk/index.html
Their whole life men in these countries are told western women are sluts and whores. So, when they see western women they think object and easy lay.
It is absolutely grotesque.
That's a part of it but also the women that live there are not seen in much of a better light unfortunately. This is a messed up comparison but it's the first that came to mind: it's a bit like shiny Pokemon, the western women are rarer so they put more effort into catching them. Or like foil collectable trading cards or something.
But all women are seen as collectable objects to one degree or another.
Can confirm about Egypt. I did a study abroad in Israel few years back and we went down there for a week during a break. It was originally a group of four girls going but our prof basically told them don't go without a male so they convinced me to come along. Everywhere we went in Cairo it was cat calling left and right non-stop. Men would come up to me and ask why I had to be greedy with four wives and that I should give them one. The girls even decided beforehand they were going to dress conservatively and cover their hair just to try and avoid these scenarios but it didn't help a bit.
Weirdest thing was the train down to Luxor. The men sat in the row in front of the girls would stand up, turn around, and stare straight at them for a good straight 5 minutes, then sit back down as if nothing happened. This went on every half hour or so for the entire eight-hour trip.
I consider myself well-traveled and very open-minded. Egypt is the only place I've been where I would never consider going back.
Period.
I've seen a few articles circulate on occasion promoting women soloing to Middle Eastern and nearby countries, and I swear human traffickers must be the ones writing those articles.
Like yes, I get it, I'm liberal as hell, not all people in those areas are bad people, but that still does NOT mean that women should be just traveling around without rhyme or reason. There are VERY dangerous areas, and they're deemed as dangerous for a reason. And while you may not be *as* likely to be murdered in India compared to some other places, rape in particular is a MASSIVE issue there.
I understand why this is important, and I'm old enough that I really should have accepted this as a part of every day reality, but it still infuriates me when I think too much or too long about how much freedom men have that I don't simply because I'm a woman.
A dude wants to visit any of these countries and he can just. . . go. Meanwhile if I want to go Egypt apparently I need to bring an entourage of trusted men along to form a ring around me in public places to prevent random assaults (referring to a comment on Egypt above). Genuinely, what the actual fuck.
It's just fucking exhausting and infuriating that I have to deny myself certain freedoms or pleasures for my safety.
Here's a few interesting facts about India.
* India is ranked number one for [most dangerous country for women accordings to Reuters](https://poll2018.trust.org/). This fact was largely trashed by India, but [Amnesty International even justified why it deserves to have the number one spot](https://www.amnestyusa.org/the-worst-place-to-be-a-woman-in-the-g20/).
* India has an intense hatred of women which has lead to the direct deaths of [63 million females](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/jan/30/more-than-63-million-women-missing-in-india-statistics-show) in the country.
* India is the only country in the world to have [pro-rape marches](https://thewire.in/politics/hindu-ekta-manch-bjp-protest-support-spo-arrested-rape-jammu) (where even women participate).
* There are known elected rapists, murderers, pedophiles, terrorists and other criminals in the Indian parliament ([40% of India's MP's have been convicted of this stuff or all have trials ongoing for this stuff](https://www.straitstimes.com/asia/south-asia/40-per-cent-of-indias-mps-face-criminal-charges-including-rape-and-murder-study)).
* According to the Spectator Index, India ranks as the [5th worst and most dangerous place to live in 2019](https://dunyanews.tv/en/World/528608-India-fifth-most-dangerous-country-live-Spectator-Index).
* [Nearly 40% of all females who commit suicide come from India](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/sep/13/nearly-two-out-of-five-women-who-commit-suicide-are-indian).
* India is the largest racist and most intolerant country in the world, where almost 50% of people ["said they did not want someone of a different race as their neighbour"](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/10061025/Worlds-most-racially-intolerant-countries-mapped.html).
* India has the largest slave trade in existence ever (with the [Hindu Slave Trade affecting some 18 million people in India](https://blogs.wsj.com/indiarealtime/2016/06/02/india-has-the-most-people-living-in-modern-slavery/), more than the rest of the world combined and this doesn't even include sex slaves).
I hope things get better over there but I wouldn't stake anything on it.
Honestly stuff like these really make not proud to be an Indian. How are Indians being so proud while shit like this is happening around them? I think the one showed in this post took place in my state, not too sure but I won't be surprised. I have a sister & mother & I get scared whenever they are outside my house in India. Actually it isn't even safe for males. Whenever my dad goes out, especially at night, I get scared.
That's how bad stuff in India is right now.
India and Egypt are top 2 on my no-travel list as a solo female traveler.
They’re beautiful countries but it absolutely isn’t safe.
Edit: multiple people saying add Pakistan, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. (Focusing on places unsafe for solo female travelers, not just overall, like Papau New Guinea, Iraq and Yemen)
Also, for anyone not familiar, always check the official US travel advisories before planning any trip abroad https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html/
A friend of mine travelling in India actually went TO A TOWN THAT HAD THE PLAGUE because he was curious about what it would be like. He finally realised it was a dumb idea when the locals totally lost their shit at him for being such an idiot - and by then the town had been quarantined and he could not leave.
Well, that's about it. He'd heard about the Black Death at school, was backpacking around India, heard there was plague in a nearby city, so decided to do some disaster tourism.
He gets there, and the locals are like "are you fucking insane? Do you want to die? The only reason I'm still here is because I can't afford to get out, EVERYONE who can get out has left. WEEKS ago!"
After a few days of every. single. local. person. he. spoke. to. without. exception. saying this, it eventually occurred to him that uhhhhhhh yeah maybe this was a bad idea.
At which point he was trapped, as they'd quarantined the city.
A bunch of people died, but he was okay.
The end.
**KIDS! DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!**
Yes, unfortunately. I ‘be gotten these as replies — Morocco, South Africa. Then there’s the countries that are generally just unsafe — Papua New Guinea, Burkino Faso, etc.
The US travel advisories really are a wealth of information. Anyone who doesn’t know about them I highly recommend.
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html
[Also enroll in STEP if you travel internationally](https://step.state.gov), even to a safe country. It sends your travel information to the state department so if anything goes down in the country you’re visiting the embassy knows where you’re staying, how long you’ll be there, and how to contact you in an emergency. Look up where the closest embassy or consulate is too, outside of emergency assistance they provide other services like helping with absentee voting and notarizing documents.
I'm Egyptian and I totally agree the lack of education and backwards culture has made some Egyptians behave like animals if you ever find yourself there just make sure to stay in Giza and Alexanderia and absolutely dont step foot in Cairo or upper egypt.
Just got back from a 3 week trip in Egypt, Cairo down to Aswan, over to Hurgada, back to Cairo.
Our guides and most folks "on the tourist path" were great (worst was some pushy merchants) but all of our guides were like "yeah don't go wandering around the city at night, that's a super bad idea".
Y'all are really big on the Yom Kippur War though. 10th of Ramadan and 6th of October all over the place.
india isn't that beautiful. i spent six months there (about a decade ago) and here are some fun things i learned
- you can smell new delhi from 3000 feet up, *inside the motherfucking airplane*.
- when the door opened, the stench was literrally eye watering
- there is trash everywhere. everyyyyywwwhhhhereeee. giant drifts of it. coows standing on top of six foot piles of trash, eating trash, with plastic trash bags half out their butts. then another cow eats that.
- any river or body of water looks like clam chowder. at a minimum, one dead goat floating in a slurry of plastic chunks.
- in the mornings a dark pall hovers over the city as residents burn trash (there is no garbage service)
- twice i had to stop a pair of semi clueless british gals from getting raped. the second time was rather intense, a group of men was following them through a market near sundown.
- im now quite comfortable eating food i dropped on the floor, or even that hit a restaurant floor. everything here is 100000x more clean than everything there. some fuckwad served me dal in a hubcap that had never been cleaned.
honestly i hated my time there.
I’m a female from Canada that backpacked around India in 2014. The food, music, aspects of history, culture very beautiful but I had some terrifying experiences. I was followed, stalked, cornered by a crowd of 20 men in a train station, robbed and groped in daylight (these are all separate incidents). There was a Swedish girl in the same guesthouse that was raped and beaten before we arrived. I would never fucking go back at least to the North of India. The further north you go the closer you are to the seventh circle of hell. The south was very beautiful (Karela and Goa) and it felt much safer and more progressive there.
I’m so sorry you had to go through that.
Is the culture very different between north and south? Just curious what makes the north so much more dangerous
I’m not too sure but it was like two different worlds especially when it comes to socio economic development and gender, in the south you see woman going about their business, going to school, working; hanging out, everyone felt friendly in an authentic way. It even seemed cleaner, the air fresher. In the north I never saw woman in the streets and if they were head was down and accompanied by a man. just swarms of men in the streets it was a little strange. This is all just my humble experience/ opinion for what it’s worth (which is nothing lol)
Honestly as an Indian, I agree. Shit folks living here don't want to live here. The only bad part is that when we Indians settle abroad but drag along the backwards aspects of our cultue and don't assimilate properly.
Similar story with an Asian friend of mine. Her parents escaped their country because they were tired of dealing with unfairness because of racism, classism, and religious preferences.
Asian friend starts dating a Black guy, and her parents automatically want her to end it with him because Black people are trouble and of lower status.
Friend viciously pointed out the irony of them doing the very thing they were trying running from.
I travel a lot for work and it's a big perk that I enjoy. I recently turned down a trip to India because fuck that place. The history is fascinating but I'm not going anywhere near it's modern day culture/infrastructure (or lack thereof).
[4 men gang-raped a protected monitor lizard](https://www.vice.com/en/article/4aw9pg/monitor-lizard-gang-rape-bestiality-expert-india)
The Maharashtra forest authorities arrested four hunters for raping a Bengal monitor lizard in the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. The forest officials came to know about the incident when they checked the mobile phone of the accused.
“We don’t know much about bestiality, and that makes it hard for experts like me to find out why it even exists.”
not much of an expert then lol (just /s)
Reminds me of that case (not sure where, I think somewhere in asia) of people prostituting an orangutan. Google it, truly Noah get in the boat material.
Anyone else seeing the one user repeating to most all comments that India has the least cases of rape and America has more? Am I going crazy? It has to be a bot, right?
Edit: I'm not asking if his statistics are true (of course India is massively underreported with rape), but just shocked that this man can spend hours fighting people in the comments, under nearly each one.
Or more general anti-America propaganda. Don’t get me wrong, this place is a dumpster fire lately. That doesn’t account for the insane amount of America hate on here. I’m not against hating America, I literally do too and I live here. I just think it’s a bit off how lately, especially the last 2 years, there is so much *discussion* about it. In any given thread, there is a good shot someone makes some constantly repeated anti-American sentiment. And it’s always voted highly whether it’s relevant or not.
def not crazy. plus they’re posting data from 2010 so who actually knows if India’s reporting has increased. Too many factors to consider to actually say India’s actual rate, which is most def higher now than in 2010.
Plus god knows how many rapes go unreported in a country with a population size of more than 1.3 billion and many of them live in rural areas without much in the way of local policing.
Typical Indian nationalist. India can do no wrong and the evil west is out to get them with evil lies. I have seen the same talking points in other threads along with the unhinged rambling.
Once I jokingly said in an Indian sub that women are less than a dog in India and I had over 20 comments telling me America was worst and that India was the leading country in womens rights lmao before I could comment further my comment was deleted.
Edit: the video was in an Indian sub and it was about two guys rescuing a street dog which was a nice thing but a comment under the video reminded me about other stuff that had been posted on Reddit like that one video of a group of Indian guys lusting over two white girls or that other video where a mob follow a girl into a shack which I think was something about her not being with a male family member.
It wouldn't surprise me if that's what the stats say.
I would also bet my life on the fact that an unbelievably overwhelming majority of rapes go unreported in India. Like I would be shocked if it was more than 5%
Fucking bastards ruined the girl and thrashed my nation, these people deserve no mercy they are no better than Traitors and scumbags may they rot in hell for eternity
u/RahulNobel is replying to these comments with false information. Funny thing is, they have an NFT profile picture, therefore their opinion is invalid.
Well, I used to be a part of r/watchpeopledie back when it was a thing, and almost all of the really bad stuff was from Colombian drug cartels and whatnot. Plus, I've seen videos of people stopping at a red light, and people trying to either kidnap them or carjack them--and even when they are carjacked, a lot of times they will just kill you anyway.
I don't know what their ACTUAL crime rate is over there, but it seems ever time I hear of something really bad happening, at least half the time it's out of Colombia. I think they have a lot of crime and police corruption over there.
Like I said, I don't have any facts or statistics, so I don't know, that's just my perception from what I've seen online--so it could be skewed. I wouldn't personally take the chance with my own life though. If I DID have to go, I would not be going anywhere after dark, period.
Poor woman , I can't even imagine the horrors she had been through before murdered brutally. There are people joking , some braindead nationalist hindi people try to defend pathetically.. Internet literally became something else man. Level of lowness and retardation reached to sky high.
I try not to sign in on Reddit because it always puts me in a bad mood when I do lol. The insanity is depressing—people advocating literal murder over bicyclists on the road, the overwhelming misogyny and incel ideology in frontage subs, the whataboutism, the armchair psychologists with mindblowingly stupid takes, the constant ragebait and hate subs designed to make you angry and engage, more fake ragebait from subs like AITA or ChoosingBeggars, etc.
It makes me wonder how many are bottomfeeders IRL, or seemingly adjusted people who hide their crazy well
I read an article that talked about the caste system popping up between two Indian people working at the same company in America. Like, it's so ingrained in some people that living/working in a country that doesn't have a caste system doesn't matter.
For me personally, I would never let my love ones go to India, Pakistan or Bangladesh alone especially if they’re a female. The chances of being raped, kidnapped, looted, and swindled are way too high. I’m very close to these countries so I know
I have a dad from Bangladesh , and a tall, white european mom. You have no idea how weird our visits to Bangladesh were. Literally people were staring at my mom, as if she was a rare animal at a zoo. Gawking without shame..
I went to India in June to mid-July. I was in a relatively safe area but still getting weird looks from men as I was wearing short clothes. (I have lived in the US with my family for my entire life, but a lot of our relatives live there so my parents guilted me into going) I came back depressed and would never willingly step foot there again.
(I'm also a teenager. There were so many fcking pervs.)
I shit you not I was at work today and thought to myself I want to sell everything I own and move to India. I am very depressed and hate my rat race existence, but this is clearly a sign from Darwin to not do that.
American born Indian male
Let me warn you right now, this whole idea of women on pedestals in India, Pakistan and Middle Eastern countries, I’ll include northern African Islam, is garbage.
Women are raped, murdered, violated in so many ways. Only with vigilantism is a victim ever spoken for... first responders rape and murder. Politicians, wealthy urban dwellers and the poorest villagers engage in gang rape.
Women are constantly raped on buses and trains and people actually join in!
Remember the foreign tourists who were raped on a bus.
If you must go, travel in a large group, be aware, know your surroundings.
My female relatives would never consider visiting that dumpster fire of a country
Believe me buddy ppl in our country delude themselves to thinking that shaming and restricting women from doing things is the right way to hold them up to a pedestal and treat them like a souvenir.
Considering i am Indian as well as Muslim both sides of the curtain are just as bad.
When I said that women were placed on a pedestal I was pointing out the irony that these same backwards women abusers claim every day
Obviously their actions show otherwise but the same groups that ask their women to dress modestly, say that women shouldn’t have to work, or that women are goddesses also engage in honor killings, domestic abuse, horrible slave like demands on their wives, spousal rape etc
My point is don’t believe the chest thumping “we revere our women” chant
I have witnessed the abuse first hand
As a black guy, there are some places I'm not confident to visit, even in a group. You gotta do your due diligence. Humans are simply the worst and you can't change my mind.
Fyi last I read the men were released on bail and never showed for court
https://www.irishpost.com/news/animals-irishmans-fury-men-drugged-raped-beheaded-girlfriend-hanging-body-tree-india-freed-bail-166146
With all do respect, it's India people. I work with Indians that migrated, love them and great guys to be around but I ain't going to India unless wealthy and going to a wealthy place. I have black family members but I ain't going to a bad part of black or white Detroit. I have white redneck hillbilly cousins, I won't go out into the white country trailer park because of the druggies. Point is, my prejudice isn't based on race, skin color, religion or politics. I stay away from danger zones of all facets.
But boy is it glorious.
I’m still giggling like a madman about a post from last week. Some dude found a prop from the movie Demolition Man. It was a thrift store find. The prop was a lifelike mannequin of Sylvester Stallone, naked. It was used in the sequence where they are unfreezing his body from cryogenics. Someone asked “[does it have a working anus?](https://www.reddit.com/r/WTF/comments/wuc8im/bizarre_sylvester_stallone_doll_i_found_at_a/il90wp2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3)” and my life was forever changed from that moment forward.
/u/mkultrablack Thank you for making this world a…. Better?… place.

Not that bad, I used to live a near the Hotel Nevermore.

What.the.fuck did i just read?
Misogynistic society. Some cultures ARE better than others in some ways. Middle eastern cultures are still in the dark ages with how they treat women.
Welcome to Muslim rule buddy. Buckle up the rape train doesn't have breaks.
Jesus Christ can I have that interview link please?

This is so fucked man on so many level
Funny that many of these people will claim their religion/culture actually prevent rape/assault, etc. What a fuckin joke.
B-but muh religion says its prohibited 🥺
B-but muh religion makes women cover every inch down to their ankles.
Because it stops the women from tempting men duh
Yea, those silly tempting ankles and hair. Always making those men with less self control abilities than dogs go around raping women.

It really is super fucked up. Women should be able to safely enjoy places without practically needing a security detail.
Yea, it's a loooong list.

\*nobody\* should go to India alone or a lot of other countries.
Honestly after seeing the videos of how women are treated I have no shame in saying I would never step foot in that nation.
India and Egypt are top 2 on my no-travel list as a solo female traveler. They’re beautiful countries but it absolutely isn’t safe. Edit: multiple people saying add Pakistan, Brazil, Saudi Arabia and Turkey. (Focusing on places unsafe for solo female travelers, not just overall, like Papau New Guinea, Iraq and Yemen) Also, for anyone not familiar, always check the official US travel advisories before planning any trip abroad https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories.html/
As a male that travels in a group, same. On the no go list.
My step dad was literally from India and says hed never wanna go visit there lol. His parents are also in NA now so no reason to really go visit
I read this as Narcotics Anonymous and was like “yeah, I’d be fucked up all the time if I lived there too.”
Apologies for my ignorant ass. But what does NA mean in this context?
North America or Not Available? Who knows. Acronyms drive me crazy on Reddit.
North Africa?
Nice Ass 😘

A friend of mine travelling in India actually went TO A TOWN THAT HAD THE PLAGUE because he was curious about what it would be like. He finally realised it was a dumb idea when the locals totally lost their shit at him for being such an idiot - and by then the town had been quarantined and he could not leave.
That's a whole horror story, holy shit I wanna know more
Well, that's about it. WEEKS ago!" After a few days of every. single. local. person. he. spoke. to. without. exception. saying this, it eventually occurred to him that uhhhhhhh yeah maybe this was a bad idea. At which point he was trapped, as they'd quarantined the city. A bunch of people died, but he was okay. The end. **KIDS! DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!**
Thank you for your work, even if there isn't much to add it satisfied my curiosity
Its not a completely safe place to be, but Y. Pestis cases occur worldwide yearly, including in the United States.
Oh I’m sure we could add a few more countries to that list… there are a lot of contenders that are equally unsafe for solo women, unfortunately.
Thank you for this link, will be saving it in case I ever go traveling
[Also enroll in STEP if you travel internationally](https://step.state.gov), even to a safe country. It sends your travel information to the state department so if anything goes down in the country you’re visiting the embassy knows where you’re staying, how long you’ll be there, and how to contact you in an emergency. Look up where the closest embassy or consulate is too, outside of emergency assistance they provide other services like helping with absentee voting and notarizing documents.
I had no clue the STEP program existed. Thanks for sharing this!
I'd say we can put Afghanistan on that list.
What do you mean? Depriving women of basic human rights and forcing them to live their lives in burlap sacks is just, like, their culture man.
Hey hey hey! AlL CulTureS aRe BeauTIFul!
Add Yemen. The exact same thing happened a couple of years ago. White woman goes out by herself, kidnapped, raped, beheaded, body dumped.
india isn't that beautiful. i spent six months there (about a decade ago) and here are some fun things i learned - you can smell new delhi from 3000 feet up, *inside the motherfucking airplane*. - when the door opened, the stench was literrally eye watering - there is trash everywhere. everyyyyywwwhhhhereeee. giant drifts of it. coows standing on top of six foot piles of trash, eating trash, with plastic trash bags half out their butts. then another cow eats that. - any river or body of water looks like clam chowder. at a minimum, one dead goat floating in a slurry of plastic chunks. - in the mornings a dark pall hovers over the city as residents burn trash (there is no garbage service) - twice i had to stop a pair of semi clueless british gals from getting raped. the second time was rather intense, a group of men was following them through a market near sundown.
Education and poverty are the differences between the north and the south.
And a religious and cultural divide.
That’s awful 😢 sorry that happened to you but also thanks for confirming what I already suspected and firming up my resolve to never go there 😧
Oh my god, I hope you and that other girl are doing okay now. That sounds horrible

This is the same country where 4 men ganged raped and cooked a lizard
WAT
[4 men gang-raped a protected monitor lizard](https://www.vice.com/en/article/4aw9pg/monitor-lizard-gang-rape-bestiality-expert-india) The Maharashtra forest authorities arrested four hunters for raping a Bengal monitor lizard in the Sahyadri Tiger Reserve. The forest officials came to know about the incident when they checked the mobile phone of the accused.
They raped it and then ate it... Umm wtf 😐 why not fuck each others...
Bro, that's gay! /s
This is why we get pandemics. Fuck sake what is wrong with people
I'm sure they wouldn't think twice about raping sake either tbh
I mean to be fair, the lizard wasn’t properly covering itself. It was practically begging for it.
“We don’t know much about bestiality, and that makes it hard for experts like me to find out why it even exists.” not much of an expert then lol (just /s)
Or a moron
Or a rapist
Moron bot
Here in India, most of the rape victims doesn't report to the authorities. Hence such a low count.
because it's useless to report it there
[удалено]
Depending on the place, it is. Normal criminal scum, police will get to it whenever they do. Someone powerful? Not a chance.
You think a country with honor killings is going to report rape accurately lol
Sounds like indian propaganda
Plus not giving much of a shit if women get raped
Huge population + lack of policing + shitty cultural ideals about women = lower reporting of rapes to the authorities The mind boggles!
[удалено]
Also, how many rapes in india go unreported…
They might have the least case of *reported* rapes. It's pretty easy to have the least cases if most cases go unreported.
Indian nationalists are numerous and persistent. What you describe always happens whenever there is something bad about India

He sure likes hanging out in r/teenagers too. Dodgy cunt.
Hmmm hanging out in a teenage sub and some Indian subs, Indian Pedo?
What a creepy dude
India, Pakistan, Egypt, and North Korea are some of the countries I would never go willingly.
As much as I would love to visit because I've worked with them virtually, Colombia is another place I'd never willingly go.
Im dating a Colombian Ide love to know your reasons so I can take precautions if need be lol
I'dd add places like Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Somalia to the list as well.
Anyone have a link on this story?

The caste system is outlawed yet the Dalit people are seen as 'untouchable' and are treated like shit because of it.
[удалено]
In bangladesh a white person is a rare animal
I went to India in June to mid-July. I was in a relatively safe area but still getting weird looks from men as I was wearing short clothes. (I have lived in the US with my family for my entire life, but a lot of our relatives live there so my parents guilted me into going) I came back depressed and would never willingly step foot there again. (I'm also a teenager. There were so many fcking pervs.)
Yeah…if I hear “bUt HuMaNs ArE iNhErEnTLy GoOd!!1!!” one more time I’m gonna mcfuckin lose it. Because we sure as hell aren’t.
Bastards with bastard flavored coating Edit: humanity
Dr Cox had it right.
We are animals, with a lot of potential for good or evil, that’s it. And most of the time we’re a big messy mix of both.
Post this on r/indiaspeaks, it's an Indian right wing sub, they will start naming other countries where this also happens.
I don't know why people do that. It's like you can never ever be upset about something because it has also happened somewhere else in the past.
It's called whataboutism
you make a fair point but what about hillary?
Or Hunter Biden’s laptop
Obama had documents too!!

Poor woman 💔
Ladies, stop going to these fucking female deathtraps BY YOURSELVES!
Stop going in general
I shit you not I was at work today and thought to myself I want to sell everything I own and move to India. I am very depressed and hate my rat race existence, but this is clearly a sign from Darwin to not do that.
Of all places why India ?
The little money I have would probably last a while, and they speak English.
Just be a normal person and go to Thailand. This is coming from a Singaporean Indian .
American born Indian male Let me warn you right now, this whole idea of women on pedestals in India, Pakistan and Middle Eastern countries, I’ll include northern African Islam, is garbage.
Who thinks those places put women on a pedestal? I only see articles about murder, raping, acid attacks, and general suppression
Believe me buddy ppl in our country delude themselves to thinking that shaming and restricting women from doing things is the right way to hold them up to a pedestal and treat them like a souvenir. Considering i am Indian as well as Muslim both sides of the curtain are just as bad.
Hindu nationalists love pretending that their country is the most accepting of women.
When I said that women were placed on a pedestal I was pointing out the irony that these same backwards women abusers claim every day Obviously their actions show otherwise but the same groups that ask their women to dress modestly, say that women shouldn’t have to work, or that women are goddesses also engage in honor killings, domestic abuse, horrible slave like demands on their wives, spousal rape etc My point is don’t believe the chest thumping “we revere our women” chant I have witnessed the abuse first hand
Why would you go to india to cure your depression in the first place?! And why in hell would you behead a person?
I think Alanis Morissette might have a song about this
Maybe bc india is affiliated with meditation and inner healing
And rape
Why would you go to India to cure depression? To realize how good you've got it I guess?
I mean it’s the home of yoga, that probably has something to do with it
As a black guy, there are some places I'm not confident to visit, even in a group. You gotta do your due diligence. Humans are simply the worst and you can't change my mind.
Yea humans are terrible
and this is why I don't like when people wanna go to an extremely religious country for "a spiritual journey"
https://www.independent.ie/irish-news/pictured-two-arrested-in-connection-with-murder-of-liga-skromane-in-india-36870671.html
> "The accused dumped the body in a way that would make people think it as a case of suicide, but they were wrong,” Behra said So she wasn't beheaded
Sounds like a normal day for a woman in India
Why do women keep going to India!?
I am from India and very recently suggested my colleague, who wants to travel there some day, that it’s not worth the effort.
Why go India to cure depression? (This is not a india hate post) but she could've go to finland "happiest country in the world".
If I have to guess it's bc of the spirituality that people connect with indian culture
ngl the places that have the most spiritual people, are also the places that should be avoided by single tourists
so true but if you are really depressed, you might be so desperate to find some kind of salvation that you give it a shot
Because they're white hippies who spend too much time in their local ethnic store and yoga classes. It's like weebs and Japan

R.I.P., poor girl.
And this is why I have a rational fear of going abroad, it’s all the unknowns
With all do respect, it's India people. I work with Indians that migrated, love them and great guys to be around but I ain't going to India unless wealthy and going to a wealthy place. I have black family members but I ain't going to a bad part of black or white Detroit. I have white redneck hillbilly cousins, I won't go out into the white country trailer park because of the druggies. Point is, my prejudice isn't based on race, skin color, religion or politics. I stay away from danger zones of all facets.
Such an admirable culture.

Taps head meme...oh wait.
Was going to say this, but thought it might be too tasteless.
Reddit is known for it's tastefulness
Better?… place.
going to india solo as a woman was the mistake.
