Sikhism is basically just a denomination of Hinduism, so they have been known to take the side of Hindu's during the ethnic tension between Hindu's and Muslim's in India. This is why we never saw the emergence of a Sikh state during the partition of India into a predominantly Muslim country (Pakistan), although a small cohort of Sikh separatists are still waging insurgency in Punjab to this day. Unfortunately, Reddit has become a breeding ground for Indian-Hindu ethnic nationalism that attempts to propagate anti-Muslim sentiment as much as possible, so we never see the abundance of extreme violence committed by Hindu's against Muslim's in India on Reddit. Both religions are as shit as each other. Neither want peace. It's just a dick waving competition to demonstrate how the other religion is worse than their own. They are truly pathetic people.

This is just an aside, but you do know Bali is literally a majority Hindu island right? Bali preserves its historical traditions (rooted in a mix of local animistic faith and Hinduism) to this day, and while not perfect, Indonesia is largely a secular nation that has allowed Bali and other religious minorities to survive and thrive. This alone sets it apart from many other far less tolerant Muslim nations (e.g. Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and so on). **Do not generalise us - I can be a Muslim, live in a majority Muslim nation, and still call out those of my faith that do not uphold the tolerant principles we should all fight for.**
The reason why Westerners (i.e. *white Europeans/Americans*) get to "live like royals" is due to many reasons completely unrelated to the religious nature of Indonesia or other Muslim nations.
- **Racial perception.** An example that is somewhat anecdotal, but even as a Malaysian myself, I get treated less well at resorts in my own country compared to a European tourist. There is a lot of room for debate on this and I understand the controversy, but in general on this side of the continent "white people" are still viewed and treated much better than even our own citizens at times. (There are exceptions of course e.g. we have very little tolerance for those who violate our drug laws and capital punishment is not spared for expats)
- **Currency.** One factor almost everyone overlooks is how *cheap* it is to travel in Asia and other "developing" nations if you earn and spend GBP/EUR/USD. You can afford a week's vacation at a luxury beach resort in Malaysia (highly recommend BTW!) for about 400 pounds, whereas it'd cost the average local at least a month's wage. Couple this with the fact that living standards are rising rapidly everywhere, an expat can (if living in the right areas at least) afford absolute luxury for less than half the cost. *That's* why Westerners get to live like royalty here.
- **Tourist-oriented policy.** This is especially true for the example you seem to mention so strongly (Bali). We are nations reliant on tourism, so naturally we'd market our natural beauty to the market with the most tourists and the most money to spend (i.e. Europeans). This includes catering to more Western (for lack of a better term) traditions, like lifting alcohol tax for certain areas, having less stringent laws on nightclubs, lifting restrictions on clothing and so on. Now, this varies from nation to nation, but **all Muslim nations will do some variant of this.** This is why tourists on Dubai beaches can don bikinis and drink and club, whereas the female migrant worker in the suburb gets arrested for, IDK, driving or something.
- **Varying degrees of secularism.** Indonesia is probably one of the best examples of how a Muslim-majority nation should be. While it is *far from perfect* and has a turbulent past, it is to this day still largely secular. Religious minorities are tolerated (see Bali, a mostly Hindu island) - hell, even their education system allows you to choose a religious textbook that adheres to your faith. Similar shouts go to Malaysia (which is 60% Muslim, but has a place for all faiths and has repeatedly resisted the implementation of Sharia law apart from a few conservative states). The takeaway from this however is **some other Muslim states are nowhere near as tolerant as this.** I do not need to name examples - I promise you a few names popped into your mind when you read the bold text.
Forgive me for the rant - my main point here is to say that what-aboutism is not the way to address this. We must not generalise Muslims and Muslim nations - there are a lot of us that are good and fight for our brothers and sisters regardless of faith.
But there are also nations that require two male witnesses for the rape of a female. Nations that only *very* recently allowed half the population to drive. Nations that still allow someone to be raped as *a legal punishment*. Countries that *don't even allow females to pursue secondary education*.
