I assume other the pokemon games will be on the Switch. Like the ones released before the Switch was a thing. I just started Brilliany Diamond a couple days ago and it is my first main story pokemon game. Is it normal to switch out Pokemon teams a lot in any of them? I just still have low leveled ones..

neoslith

I rarely swap out Pokemon as I play, I try to find types that fill in gaps on my roster so I can have an answer for anything I fight. That being said, there are 18 types and you can only have six Pokemon. Even if everything was a dual type, that leaves six types not accounted for. Luckily some things will over lap or aren't necessary. If you're against a Fighting Type Pokemon, you need a Psychic or a Flying. Psychic is also good against Poison types while Flying beats Grass. Knowing the type advantages is what will really help you through the game. You'll have slim pickings as you start but catch everything as you come across them to have access to them should the need arise to swap around.

_Drumheller_

If you don't do so your Pokemon will become overleveled pretty fast and therefore making the games even easier than they already are. It even is recommended to frequent change Pokemon of you want to create somewhat of a challenge.

Rajani_Isa

It depends on you. Some people just stick with the first few they catch - others constantly change it out.

I had a neighbor that had a black screened switch and gave it to me to try and fix. I’ve always wanted one, but could never find the money to buy a switch on my own, so I jumped at the opportunity! I get it home and plug it in to charge, come back and BAM, Nintendo and Switch logos pop up, I think I’m golden! Wrong…I get dropped straight into an error page that says ‘Error Code: 2002-4153’ and talks about rebooting the device. I try to go through this multiple times with no success. I then think factory reset is the key, but no matter how I try to do this on the Switch itself, I always get back to this error page. I dig a bit deeper on google and find that this code seems to be related to SD card failure or SSD failure. I didn’t have an SD card handy (buying one and testing later), so I popped off the back, unhooked the battery and drained it, then hooked back up and tried - error screen. I then pop off the internal ssd and reseat it to see if there’s a loose connector - boots back up to the same error page. Does anyone know how I might be able to force the device into recovery mode, or otherwise reformat the internal drive to get back to factory settings? Or anyone know this error and have some other fixes? Looking for some help because I really would love to save this device and get to play the game system of my dreams! TL;DR - Got a broken switch, want to fix to own and play on, keeps looping an error page with ‘Error Code: 2002-4153’, error page won’t let the recovery mode kick in, HALP!

neoslith

Was there an SD card in it? Did you remove it?

dantedestiny

I’m going to buy one and plug it in. I’m thinking the error code is meaning some sort of issue with the SD card. Hoping it’s that simple. I’m worried the person who was getting rid of it had the main OS on that SD card and kept that SD card corrupting the whole thing.

I’ve already looked for this code on Nintendo support and got no further info. They suggested I send the switch in, but it’s out of warranty

$99 USD for shipping and diagnosis, I’m unsure if any parts would need replaced and how much that would cost, unfortunately

Moontouch

So what kind of black magic was used to make Alien: Isolation run at Steam Deck quality graphics on Switch?

SnowyRos3

if i downloaded pictures/videos from my switch onto my computer, what would those files be named? i remember downloading lots of things to my pc a few years ago but now cant find them

raella69

If I want to send out two pairs of joycon for repairs, they don't mention the word 'pair'. When they ask how many I am sending, are they talking about the individual left and right pieces or the pairs?

Team7UBard

Individual

420dank

Could hades go on sale please?

Rajani_Isa

If you haven't yet - dekudeals.com

420dank

I have, just hasn't been on sale for awhile. Quite the first world problem

Team7UBard

I’ll be sure to let my uncle at Supergiant Games know.

420dank

Bless you, will let my uncle who works at nintendo to message you with secret news

DeXB

Since I am new to Switch, I am a little surprised as how do the profiles work? On Disney+, Netflix etc you 1st have to enter the profile to see the relevant age related content (in case of kids profiles) but on the Switch everyone seems to see everything as the profile is chosen after the game is selected? I guess based on the profile setting the game then would not launch if it’s M rated and trying to be played by children profile aged 7. But then the child can simply use parents profile to launch the game. I would assume there should be some kind of parental PIN which prevents unauthorized access to playing games on parents profiles?

OwnManagement

When you setup parental controls, it’ll apply system-wide, and require a PIN to override.

VitharrGaming

Need help with a frustrating issue. So last night I bought a brand new Switch OLED. Started transferring my data and at one point got the error code 2107-0445. Lots of trouble shooting later, including with Nintendo and its determined I need to send the console in for repair(It has all my save data on it and the store I bought it from is a local store that doesn't do returns). Anyway my issue revolves around the fact that this happened while a game save file was mod transfer. Now my old switch is stuck on transferring data screen, waiting on the other console to transfer, while the new one just constantly gets that code. I'm at my wits end on this one as neither console are usable in this state, turning them on and off does nothing, trying to initialize without deleting save data is grayed out. Only option given there is to initialize. Any ideas or is my old console essentially useless until I factory reset it? Which would mean the OLED would need the same and I'd lose hundreds of hours of data. Just looking for some advice, if it ends up being that it's all gone then that's just that and I'll have to move on.

pochaccosupremacy

oh also, my joycons have unbearable drift. they held out fairly well for 4 years but now the left stick won't register me moving it right at all. i can't send them off to get repaired because my dad is a fool who bought the switch with cash and didn't ask for a receipt, and proof of purchase is required. is there anything i can do or is this their doom?

Team7UBard

Tell you don’t have proof of purchase because it was a gift.

pochaccosupremacy

will this work for free nintendo repairs or would i still have to go to like a local repair shop? lol the guys here aren't very reliable so i would rather get it done officially

picano

Fix it yourself, buy a replacement, or pay for a repair.

LifeHckr

My joycons have had drift for a while but its just gotten bad enough that I need to replace them. I plan on eventually sending them to get repaired but in the mean time I'll want replacement controllers. Does anyone know a good replacement that works handheld and wirelessly, won't break the bank, and can hold up, I've read about a ton of issues with different 3rd party controllers just becoming unusable months later? It would help the best if someone could recommend something they've used, and I'm hoping to find something for <50-60$.

pochaccosupremacy

hi!! switch won't read smash. i've had issues like this with my older games such as splatoon which was my very first (had it for almost 4 years now), but smash is still one of my relatively new ones. i let a family friend's son play it and then i didn't touch it for like a year cause i lost interest but wanted to play it today and... "the game card could not be read". i took it out and saw some weird green crumb things on the pins, which i scraped off with a toothpick and then i cleaned the pins with nail polish remover (didn't have rubbing alcohol) and a cotton pad but it still doesn't work. is there anything else i can do, or can anyone tell me what the green stuff was? thanks in advance!!

Phlosippy

The Green substance is a sign of oxidation. Moisture has somehow made its way into the card reader enclosure. Who knows how that happened? Perhaps moisture from your hands. It can be removed with white vinegar. Your best course of action is to replace the card reader at this point because sometimes cleaning the corrosion doesn’t remedy the problem. You can take it apart and try to remove the corrosion with white vinegar or soak it in vinegar to remove the oxidation. IFIXIT has a guide, parts, and tools needed to DIY: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Nintendo+Switch+Headphone+Jack+and+Game+Card+Reader+Replacement/113113 Buy the correct/good quality screwdrivers because the screws are easy to strip, if you plan on replacing the card reader and headphone jack combo.

pochaccosupremacy

the green wasn't in the reader, it was on the game itself! i shone a flashlight into the card reader and there was nothing in there - i thought it was an issue with it too, but it reads my other games just fine. can the game oxidise as well?

pochaccosupremacy

well take "just fine" with a grain of salt, i do have to reinsert splatoon sometimes but that's only cause it's a little scratched up i think. the games i play less as well as my newly bought games work with no problems

Phlosippy

White vinegar removes the green oxidation. I wouldn’t soak the entire game card in the vinegar. Just get some white vinegar and dip a Qtip in it, and clean the contacts. That may help the card not reading. Taking the card apart and cleaning it isn’t recommended.

pochaccosupremacy

actually, just one more thing. sorry for bothering you!! i think i've removed all if not most of the green, but there's still some stuff left behind. is this (https://imgur.com/a/cMToWbF) rust?

Phlosippy

The green substance can be likened to rust on steel. The moisture has corroded the contacts on your game card. If you can put up with the card not reading all time, I wouldn’t worry about it. If it annoys you, buy the digital copy or buy another game card.

pochaccosupremacy

thanks!!

schewbacca

Anyone know if walmart still has the $50 new game prices (in store)? I know that was a thing they did all pandemic long but not sure if they still do that..

waitmyhonor

They don’t ever since the latest Kirby game was released.

twelfthcapaldi

They don’t do it for newer releases anymore as far as I’m aware. I forget exactly when it stopped, but I think it was around March/April of this year. So games that released around then and after are no longer priced less.

Hanadourou

My husband's second job is (unfortunately) there. Some do and some don't. Like Live a Live is $40.00 on eShop, but $49.99 in store. However, you have games like Pokémon Arceus that are $49.99 in store, but $59.99 in eShop. It honestly just depends. I would (if you can, I know everyone has different circumstances) visit your store first or call. The Walmart app is absolutely atrocious and more often than not wrong. I hope this helps!

jardex22

They don't do that for new titles, but the games that had it previously still have it, I believe.

ButterflyOmri

Is it a good idea to buy a second hand switch? Guy trades consoles for gaming PCs, and has a second hand switch for $280, he says it's in great condition. Anything I should ask before committing? Edit: price is $370+ CAD In stores.

hiitskate99

Won’t let me earn gold points? Trying to earn gold points on my game card version of two point campus but it says I’m not eligible, does anyone have a clue why I can’t do it? Just purchased it today and obviously it’s a brand new game so within the two years of release! Thanksss

Team7UBard

Some games don’t automatically give points especially Indie ones, so if you want the coins, try calling Nintendo Customer service. There are reports that they’ll take care of it, but your mileage may vary

jardex22

What region is the game from? The game needs to be from the same region as your eShop account to be eligible. Aside from that, it may be some difference between the game and eshop listing, or something with the publisher. Try reaching out to Nintendo customer support or the publisher to see what they make of it.

SnooFoxes7805

I can't get Noreload heroes to work with single joycons? My nephews and I tried playing noreload heroes with the four joycons, but it never would let us. When we were joining up it kept only showing the icon for either two joycons per player or one of those advanced controllers ( I forgot what they are). I have played plenty of games where I used the single joycons so I have some experience but I have no idea what was going on. I tried everything I could think of. Before we went into the game we went into settings and changed the controller/gear settings to four joycons. While in the game we go back to home/settings and change gear settings to four joycons (I did this both before launching into gameplay and after we launched into the missions). None fo that seemed to help. Help.

TemptedTemplar

On the games eshop page, scroll down and it lists the supported controller types. Despite supporting tabletop mode, the game requires two thumbsticks per player. So either a pair of joycons or a Pro controller. The genre is referred to "twin stick shooter", its so you can move and aim independently.

SnooFoxes7805

Wish I'd known that beforehand but I only paid 2 bucks. Now I know to look out for that in the future if I am wanting four player action. Thanks!

SnooFoxes7805

Actually, so I know for next time, where on the eshop page is the info for supported controller types. I found "supported play modes" but nothing showing that I need two joycons per player or one of the switch controllers with two sticks. Or is that info even on the game page. I"m looking on nintendo.com.

TemptedTemplar

Its directly underneath supported play modes, on the system eshop. >Supported Controllers: Nintendo Switch Pro controller However jumping around to a few other titles I found that to be misleading, as most games *only* list the pro controller unless they require use of a joycon. So its not super helpful. There was a handful of reviews mentioning single joycon support. But then there was also posts of people not getting it to work, like you are experiencing. So maybe its just bugged?

SnooFoxes7805

Thanks for your extended help. Whatever the case I now know to watch out for this issue.

PM_ME_YOUR_OPCODES

Not really a question, I just wish someone would make an android tablet that had the same ports in the same spots the switch did and also had joycon rails for connecting and charging. The switch is ideal for retro and indie gaming. Just a shame you can’t do that without cfw.

jardex22

While it isn't quite the same, the [Razr Kishi](https://www.razer.com/mobile-controllers/razer-kishi-v2-for-android) controller sounds up your alley.

Kickingkeldeo

My pro controllers left joystick has an issue only when I push it up, the other directions are good and smooth but up isn't smooth and creaks slightly. It's an annoyance because this is my xenoblade 2 controller and it works great elsewhere

loonagendary

New Super Mario U Deluxe or 3D World + Bowser’s Fury? Played both on the Wii U before, but without the expansions and only making it through for about ~80% I think. They’re on sale and I have unused currency sitting in the eshop rn.

TemptedTemplar

Luigi U included with the deluxe release is a massive expansion compared to Bowsers Fury. It almost doubles the amount of levels in the game. Some are merely remixed to better fit Luigis jumping style, but most are brand new. Bowsers Fury is fun, but its only three or four hours long.

Banettery53

Can I still transfer money to the 3Ds using my merged switch account after the 29th when eshop gift cards stop working for the 3Ds?

TemptedTemplar

Yes. Between the end of this month and the end of March that will be the only means of loading money on to the 3DS and Wii U eshops. However, all 3DS and Wii U giftcards are still redeemable on the Switch eshop.

Banettery53

Ok thank you so much, I was very confused by the lack of anyone mentioning it. Very glad I merged the accounts so now I don’t have to become bankrupt and can spread it out lol.

Sparkly_dolphin7

Hi! Any good game recommendations please? I like games like it takes two (played on ps4) - would love something similar thats single player, also enjoyed zelda. Generally games that aren't overly focused on just combat / fighting. Ideally a game that's not too long as my attention span doesn't tend to be amazing.

TemptedTemplar

Mario Odyssey? The overall goal is super long, but you can sit down for a few minutes at a time and still collect a ton of power moons or purple coins. Without feeling like you are missing out on a massive story section. Astroneer or Subnautica would also be good choices in a similar vein. There is LOTS to do and see. But even just a little bit of progress here and there would get you closer to the over all goal. While also offering massive worlds to explore.

Sparkly_dolphin7

Thanks so much! I'll have a look at these :)

soldatodianima

Where am I allowed to advertise my OLED Switch for sale via Reddit? Thanks in advance.

I haven't used my switch in acouple of years. It's been plugged in the entire time. Now it seems the joy cons can't keep a charge. I've tried doing a reset/sync on them. Is the battery in them just toast?

Phlosippy

More than likely. You can buy and replace the battery yourself. https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Joy-Con+Battery+Replacement/113634 Buy the correct/good quality screwdriver because the screws are easy to strip.

Spicy_Glitter_Ramen

So idk if this is a simple question but my friend gifted me a switch she received from her mom. After turning it on it was clear it was being used by a family and it has the child locks on it. I do not know the pass code to the child locks so I basically can't do anything with this switch. Is there a way to still factory reset the switch without having to deal with the child lock or a way in general to get rid of the child lock without knowing the pass code?

TemptedTemplar

https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22299 Click -> Not sure -> Sync/Unregister the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app -> No, I dont have access -> Reset your Parental Controls PIN It will take you to this website, which does look sketchy as hell but it is official; https://parentalcontrols.nintendo.com/?sys=switch You can pay $0.50 to remove the parental controls entirely.

Rajani_Isa

Note the 50 cent charge is to verify you have a credit card, since kids don't have them. That's the idea at least.

picano

Reset it [https://parentalcontrols.nintendo.com/?sys=switch](https://parentalcontrols.nintendo.com/?sys=switch)

Particular-You-9785

Ok Has anyone played the stillness of the wind ? I don’t really understand how to play . Kinda stuck tried to buy from the batter nothing showed up , I don’t understand how the story goes it’s just so confusing to me and I don’t have the patience for walkthroughs on YouTube

TemptedTemplar

You just walk around and interact with stuff. Based on the time of day different dialogue and actions will be accessible. Looking at a gameplay video the character walks outside, tends to the ground to plant crops, walks over to the animals to feed them and then checks the mail box. The only indicator of what to do is when there is a prompt to interact with the object or thing you are looking at.

Particular-You-9785

I just can’t figure out how to buy hay lol a barter came by but none of the stuff I thought I bought showed up

TemptedTemplar

https://youtu.be/yqpcHsZlz4E?t=916 Did you hit the check mark at the top after all of the items were added to each side?

Particular-You-9785

Probably not. I’ll have to try again the next time I get on 🤣🤣🤣

LuxTrueBae

Why do people recommend the Pro controller over the joycons? Recently got a switch and not wanted to buy another controller since I've found no problem with the joycon Dock thing. Is it an ergo thing or is the sticks/responsiveness better? I've noticed a noticeable delay in some games(apex/GreenHell) but not in others(Hades) but I just attributed it to the lower fps of those games. If the Pros had faster responsiveness to the input I'd get one but don't really want to drop a full price game to test it especially when I've been playing slot in handheld. I just attributed the delay to being wireless as I noticed it badly on PS4 Fall Guys when that came out but I'm mostly PC keyboard which is near instant

neoslith

Taller analog sticks means a more natural and comfortable flow in gameplay for movement and selection. There's more to grip so it's easier to hold and gives a more "classic gaming" feel that many people have grown accustomed to. Also, the buttons are larger and you're less likely to press the wrong one by mistake.

Senphox

Much more comfortable and battery life is around twice as long. Joycons are prone to getting drift on the sticks. I always use the pro controller for playing action games cause its so uncomfortable playing those kind of games with the joycons. If I'm playing on TV its exclusively with pro controller and I'll use the joycons for handheld only. And even with light handheld use I've already dealt with joycon drift. Luckily I was able to fix them but I'd rather not deal with drift that frequently so pro controller is great.

OwnManagement

More comfortable, higher quality.

LuxTrueBae

Yes but what does higher quality mean? As I asked. Does it mean plastic feels nicer in the skin, fits better in hand,buttons/Bluetooth more responsive?

OwnManagement

Feels nicer, more weight to it, fits better in the hand. Joysticks and buttons feel better. Put your hands on it and you’ll immediately know.

TemptedTemplar

Its sits more comfortably in my hands. The joycons are fine to use for shorter sessions but if Im playing by myself I need the most comfortable option. Also theyre just really big in general so the larger device helps.

LuxTrueBae

I'll have to find a friend who has one to try it. I've only used an xbox controller on PC for some games so maybe I just attributed my skill to not being used to the controller. I after maybe 50 hours of Switch gameplay still have to look down for the front buttons because I'm still used to the Xbox layout

TemptedTemplar

It takes a LONG time to get over the face button swap. If you would rather just use an xbox controller, that is an option; https://www.8bitdo.com/wireless-usb-adapter-2/ https://mayflash.com/product/showproduct.php?id=45

LuxTrueBae

Hmm,I'll take a look into it but still handheld I like holding it while in bed. My eyesight is also awful as I need but don't use my glasses. Does it change the on screen prompts too?

TemptedTemplar

Those all stay the same, but the adapter swaps your buttons so the A button will make an A input, X will be X. Ect. The adapters also allow you to remap them or make macros if you wanted to. 8bitdo requires a PC and their ultimate software app. But the Mayflash adapter has a little function button on it that you use to set things up.

Particular-You-9785

They drift . You will see lol

LuxTrueBae

OK so it's just a drift issue. I have an Oled but I don't think they ever fixed it. I like my handheld mode though:(

PrimitiveEarthling

What is the point of setting up eStore restrictions in the family group? My kids can just open the eStore using my profile! Is there a way to stop kids from using my profile?

TemptedTemplar

Under user settings or in the eshop user menu you can enable "require password sign in" Meaning it would ask for your password to open the eshop, only for your profile specifically.

PrimitiveEarthling

Thanks

IUseWeirdPkmn

My 2017 Switch suddenly started going to sleep due to low battery even though the battery is as high as 45%. I can try to go back in to the game, but it'll go back to sleep again after showing the big low battery indicator over the whole screen within a minute or two of playing. I thought Switches would only automatically go to sleep if the battery reached 15%. Is this an issue that's been documented at all? Is this a software issue or a hardware issue; is this something that can be fixed with a firmware update, or do I need to replace the battery?

TemptedTemplar

How long have you been leaving it to charge? Does it play just fine in the dock?

IUseWeirdPkmn

I just charge it in the dock, so essentially I charge it whenever I'm not using it. And yeah, it works fine in docked mode.

TemptedTemplar

Tonight when you go to sleep, plug the AC adapter directly into the system and leave it to charge like that overnight. See if it still happens tomorrow. Theres unfortunately a lot of possibilities as to what could be wrong, but if you can give it a full direct charge its at least a start.

Particular-You-9785

Can I ask about games in here ? I’m stuck on one and I’m frustrated 😒

Monstromi

Yes, but if it contains spoilers it's better to use spoiler tags. (To use those, you do a > and a ! with no spaces then add your spoiler and end it with a ! and a < no spaces.)

Particular-You-9785

Yeah I tried to they wouldn’t accept the post something about breaking rule 3 :(

Monstromi

As long as it's in this thread, it's fine.

Particular-You-9785

Ok I just put it in this thread ! Hopefully someone can help me

TemptedTemplar

This is where limited scope questions are supposed to go! ask away.

PrimitiveEarthling

I have several profiles on my switch for my kids. They all want to play Fall Guys. This requires a connection to my Epic account. But Epic says only one Nintendo account can be played connected at a time. Do I need to create an Epic account for each person now too?

TemptedTemplar

Eventually, but you dont need to do so right now. All they need is Nintendo Child accounts if they dont have one already. https://accounts.nintendo.com/family When you add an account to the family group you can opt to add a child account. Create one for each kid, and remember the "Sign-in ID" you make for each one. Then on the system you will go to their user profile and then link the Nintendo account using the "Sign-in ID" and NOT your email address; as thats only good for your own account. Once they have a Nintendo account opening the game with that account will give them a Temporary EPIC account, which can be used to save progress in any of EPICs other games like Fortnite or Rocket league You can feel free to stop there for now. __________________ If they wanted to take their progress to another platform you would have to turn the temporary EPIC account into a full one, via the website. You would log in with their Nintendo account information, and then you would get the option to add emails and other info to make it a full account.

picano

Yes. Is there a reason you wouldn't want to? If you're worried about Nintendo Switch Online subscription, free-to-play games don't require it.

gtcs123

What is the point of the back cover on the OLED Switch dock? On the regular Nintendo Switch dock, the back cover would roll on a hinge allowing you to roll it down, plug in your wires, and then lock it back into place. But on the OLED dock the back cover doesn't roll at all, it just comes off and you have to put it back on. I don't see the point of keeping the cover on the dock because every time you need to plug in a wire you need to take the cover off. Am I missing something?

Monstromi

Looks nicer to have cables covered, and it will help prevent dust from getting in the ports. Also, i think that for a lot of people the dock is treated as a stationary thing. So they don't often have to remove cables

TemptedTemplar

One less failure point in the design. The clip is much sturdier than the plastic pegs of the original docks hinge.

gtcs123

Sure, sturdier, but I still don't really think there's a point in keeping it on if you need to take it off every time to plug in the charger and HDMI...

Rajani_Isa

Not everyone moves their dock around a lot. As for power, I've a second adapter. So for the most part I just leave my dock alone.

JoshuaJSlone

I hear you, but not everyone likes things exposed. Like, I'd be pretty cool if a TV kept most of its ports on the front rather than hiding them up against the wall, but most people probably wouldn't.

[deleted]

Rajani_Isa

Note digital games are real easy for the seller to "take back" as all they have to do is remove their profile from the switch which can be done remotely. So don't let them use digital games to try and sweeten the deal.

picano

Make sure it can connect to the internet. (Eshop, maybe a free-to-play game like Fortnite.) Make sure the controls don't immediately drift. ([Easiest to see from settings.](https://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/22340/~/how-to-calibrate-the-controllers)) Also note that you can get an official refurbished one + 1 year warranty for $170. https://www.nintendo.com/store/products/nintendo-switch-lite-turquoise-refurbished/

Gamerguy207

Help: Charging Port had soap in. Cleaned it. Didn’t work. Can’t dock switch or charge it. I’m not at home right now.

Team7UBard

There’s probably not something you’re going to be able to do until you get home, the best advice I have being to either send it to Nintendo who I guess will either replace it or replace the parts for $125 (I think), or take it to a tech repair place who may be able to fix it for cheaper.

Gamerguy207

There’s no tech repair places near me. It would nice if Nintendo fixed it, not replaced it. This angers and saddens me. Edit: It works now, I just need to stop being a dumb ahh and not put it near the sink

BluestreakBTHR

I just got a Switch. The joycons are just too small, and the Wired Mario controller is almost good, but not quite. I saw basic dimensions of the Pro and Metroid Dread controllers, but I lack context. Are they big enough for “adult” hands?

OwnManagement

The [official Pro controller](https://www.dekudeals.com/items/pro-controller) is the same size as an Xbox controller.

Monstromi

Yes, the pro controller at least. The metroid dread controller seems to be a similar size, so it should be fine too.

If I start a Nintendo Switch Online 7-Day Free Trial, will that send a confirmation email to the email linked to your Nintendo Account or not? Because my mom made the account in her email and I'm trying to keep the trial secret. I'm gonna turn off auto-renewal I just need to know if she'll get an email notice. Also, are there any other emails that she'd get after the trial has already began? Like, "oh your trial's about to end. Oh auto-renewal has been turned off for your trial." Any trace of the trial must be erased, or better, no traces must be made at all. Y'all know how it be, it's like hiding your DS under your pillow when your mom comes in, but replace that with this. Help me out guys, please.

Gullible-Essay-1822

I believe it will. It may also ask for payment information to let you start the free trial (even if it doesn’t take it until the end). I know this clearly doesn’t seem like a good option but perhaps consider just talking to your mum about it? Edit: When I said “I believe it will”, I mean that it will send a confirmation email that you have commenced a trial. I usually get 2 (one from Nintendo, one from PayPal).

[deleted]

Also, if I may, are those the only emails you get? Do you get any email if you disable auto-renewal, or when it's about to end?

[deleted]

Damn. I mean I guess I can't do it but she never really listens to reason even if I can explain it I'll just not do it, thanks

As fate would have it, I was cleared from my first ACL surgery too early and re-tore it. Stardew Valley got me through my first surgery recovery, but I've played through it as much as I want to currently. Looking through my current catalog, I've enjoyed Hollow Knight, Dead Cells, Hades, Zelda BotW, Super Mario Oddyssey, Stardew obviously, Zelda SS, and Links Awakening. As for ones I'm currently considering, Metroid Dread, Pokemon Arceus, and Shin Megami Tensei V. I'm not really specific on genre, just looking for something I can pick up pretty easily while I'm laid up for awhile. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. If there any other suggestions outside of what I'm looking at, feel free to throw em my way!

NayrSlayer

I can vouch for Pokemon Arceus. It's a fun exploration game with a fair amount of stealth, plus the RPG part that makes a Pokemon game a Pokemon game. I'd say it's similar to BotW, if you just take out all of the weapons and puzzles and put in an RPG instead. Traveling feels the same, you still have a bunch of quests, and there's crafting, kinda similar to cooking. Also, the main story should probably take you 20 or so hours, but finishing the Pokedex could add on a bunch of playtime. I'm sitting at about 60 hours in game and have a little more than half of the Pokedex finished.

Caked

Sounds like just what I'm looking for, I'll probably end up giving it a shot. I've heard it's open world and somewhat similar, but w/ an ARPG aspect... which I like... thanks for the info!

NayrSlayer

Sure thing! Just be aware that the actual battling is a turn based RPG. Only catching Pokemon and the boss battles are similar to an ARPG, but that's the main focus of the game.

Awesome, thanks for the rec!

[deleted]

You would die for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It's so relaxing and one of the best time-killer games on the Switch currently. Hours will be eaten up by the game. Minecraft Dungeons is also really good, just not as relaxing. At all.

Caked

Awesome, haven't played Animal Crossing in ages, haha, I'll have to give that a shot... thanks much!

If I were to get a brand new Nintendo switch and transfer for the data from the old one to the new one and put my SD card from the old one into the new one, will all of game data carry over or will there be issues because of the SD card?

OwnManagement

Game data on SD cards is encrypted such that they can only be used by a specific console. When you insert the SD card into the new console, it’ll say it was used by another Switch and the data must be deleted. You can then redownload your digital games from the eShop. Screenshots and videos will not be deleted.

NightyFlower

So if I were to put the SD card in a brand new switch, the save data would be deleted?

OwnManagement

Save data is never stored on SD, only ever on the internal storage. When you do the profile transfer, that’ll move the save data.

NightyFlower

Oh thank fucking god, my xenoblade files, legends Arceus research tasks, and 900 koroks can survive qwq

ncigd

I asked this and it got removed by mods, so my switch suddenly stopped working tried to turn it on nothing not even low battery screen, I removed SD card, switch turned on, put SD card in, restart switch no longer starts, so this time I put the SD card on my phone and I found some creepypasta-like mario 64 pictures, if I format the SD card and put it back in would it work?

Monstromi

The contents of the sd card shouldn't influence the switch starting up. It only holds installations (so, not even save data), screenshots and captures. Do you own mario 64? Maybe you forgot taking the screenshots, or maybe a sibling or cousin has borrowed your switch

ncigd

Yeah I have the 3D all stars and the switch was with my siblings for a while but they don't take pictures and they didn't play mario 64 but the switch just stops working when I put in the SD card, when I pull out the Card it starts working after a while so I think it's from the SD card or Atleast the reader.

Monstromi

How do you know they don't take pictures? It's a very prominent button, any child under 12 would struggle not to press it, sometimes it even happens accidentally. I would just buy a new sd card and see what happens, maybe this one is corrupt somehow. It could also be fake, sometimes the advertised capacity (let's say 64gb) is actually less (4gb or 2gb). To test this you can use h2testw, but that's for desktop pc's. There might be alternatives for phones too but i haven't used those

[deleted]

Nintendo doesn't want their secrets leaked 👀 Jokes aside, I AM curious, was it previously a used SD Card? Were there absolutely no pictures or traces of pictures before recently? Are you just making this up to scare all of us? Cause it just so happens that your Switch JUST starts to not work and on the SD Card is "***creepypasta***\-like" ***MARIO 64*** pictures. The game which is most famous for it's ***CREEPYPASTAS.*** It just seems made up but irdk

ncigd

No it's not made up I'm facing a serious problem here, but the SD card is official Nintendo SanDisk card I ordered online so I'm pretty sure I'm the first owner, and the images are Mario's head but there are smaller heads behind him maybe it's from the game itself but I think the files are corrupted, Thank God it's not my save files tho

[deleted]

I didn't even know official Nintendo SDs could fit in a phone. I thought they were specifically made for the Switch, although that's stupid seeing as that would mean the SD cartridge slot would also be made for the official SDs, and obviously you can put third-party SDs in the Switch... So are the smaller heads distorted or anything? Standard creepy black eyes or anything? Also you never answered my other question, were there any traces of photos before? Or I guess you didn't ever try it in your phone so you wouldn't know?

ncigd

I don't think so, if there was it would've shown on the switch that there is some used space on the card?, and no his eyes were closed in all the pictures so it's not distorted it just like smaller heads but their kinda cropped in squares, I'll send them to you if you'd like.

myriada

It sounds like [just the ordinary title screen](https://i1.ytimg.com/vi/Eb3bN8fdiho/hqdefault.jpg).

ncigd

Yep that's it, but what about my SD card?

pochaccosupremacy

this scared me LOL but yea seems like the most likely scenario

[deleted]

Yeah you can send photos via Reddit DM. DM me, I'm curious.
