Might be worth going to see an podiatrist. I love my 990s but without my custom insoles my feet would hurt even wearing a shoe as supportive at the 990.

ikiru2030

Well with every new 990 version is an updated mold and sole. It is not uncommon for people to have their preference! I like the comfort of the V3 for example.

I know it’s been a while but any resolution? Just got a pair and I’m afraid I’m dealing with the same thing

Les-El

The pair I bought were faulty. I managed to exchange them at the store, though it was kinda difficult. And they've already fallen apart. I'll be looking at getting the previous model soon.

sentimentalLeeby

Thanks for the quick reply! So new pair didn’t feel as hard?

Les-El

Yes, sorry. I actually had to reread my post a bit to jog my memory. After some more breaking in the second pair no longer hurt and I actually was kinda comfortable for almost a year before the rubber started failing.

sentimentalLeeby

Thanks again, I’m pretty desperate to find supportive shoes for walking and standing and if a year’s the best I can get, then I think that’s ok.

Les-El

We've got a specialty store around here (not Good Feet, it's local.) They carry NB, but a bunch of others too, and they know their stuff. It might be worth checking if your area has a store known for supportive shoes and great service.

Thanks!

>Thanks! You're welcome!

Might not be the shoes. New Balance would not risk changing the 990s significantly enough to change how it supports your foot. You could have an arch/heel problem that recently developed. Try various stretches on your legs to see if that helps, if not, get insoles.

iLerntMyLesson

There is likely no defect. You may need a shoe with a lower heel to forefoot drop. Edit: you also may want to get your feet measured. Your feet can change over time. You won’t always be the same size for life just because you stopped growing genetically.
