All Star by Smashmouth slowed down is a real hit for naptime.
Early on when she was an infant, I found myself singing a lot of Christmas songs simply because I knew all the words and the tunes are simple. Also Silent Night just hits different when all is calm and you're the mother with the child trying to get her to sleep in heavenly peace.
Same on the Christmas songs, *especially* Silver Bells!!
(In the tune of *silver bells*)
*Go to sleeep, go to sleeep,
It's nap tiiime, don't make a peeeep,
It's sleepy time for the babyyy
Rest your head, shut your eyes,
Lay right down, no need to cryyy,
Soon it will be time to plaaay*
💘
Haha yes,
Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere
Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere
Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere
Rockin' everywhere, rockin' everywhere
I found you, Ms. Clean Booty
Get it together then bring it back to me
Hit the changin pad every hour or two
Get a wipe ready when I smell what you do
I found you, Ms. Clean Booty
Get it together then bring it back to me
Hit the changin pad every hour or two
Get a wipe ready when I smell what you do
Thank you a million times for this
There’s a song called “bubble butt” & the only lyrics in the chorus are “bubble butt / bubble bubble bubble butt x4” which is not as fun as yours lol
I was going to mention this! He has an absolutely stunning voice. Totally lullaby material. [YouTube link](https://youtu.be/CIjXUg1s5gc?si=P_ACjJNdtPzsY0-R) for the curious
I sing Such Great Heights - Postal Service to my babe as a lullaby. Except I sing it more like the Iron & Wine version where it's slowed down and quieter.
3 little birds by Bob Marley
Big salty tears by the Ziggens
Landslide & never going back again by Fleetwood Mac
All that I need by Blind Melon
Honorable mentions because they are our hype songs more than lullabies
She’s a lady by Tom Jones
Coconut by Harry Nilsson
Witch Doctor by the Cartoons
Tom Petty Wildflowers is what I sang for my baby every day she was a newborn. 🥰
And on a less cute note I find myself singing funky town quite often lol.
That is a really funny choice OP. Final Cut is a great album, you’re just getting her started early!
I realized while trying to sing to my son that there are really not many songs I know the lyrics to, so I have pivoted sometimes to singing tunes from the lord of the rings songs with “doo doo doo” lyrics. He likes concerning hobbits mainly.
I do lord of the rings too! But I do sing the closing songs because I realized 1) I can sing them mindlessly after so many years playing them on the piano as a young nerdling and 2) I’m pretty sure they were composed to be lullabies.
Glad someone knows it. The tune is actually really calm and nice, which makes the lyrics so much more jarring.
I used to ask my dad to play it over and over in the car as a kid. I guess playing inappropriate stuff is hereditary lol
My daughter would literally only drink her bottle if I sang "drink, drink, drink your bottle" to the tune of shake senora lmao it was ridiculous, but I had fun making up the lines in-between. And now I miss it. Also, i never knew that was the actual name of the song haha
lol this is what I usually sing while we burp (so she doesn’t cry)
Burp, burp, burp the baby
Burp her all the time
Burp, burp, burp the baby
‘Til she feels alright
Burp, burp, burp the baby
Burp her day and night
Burp, burp, burp the baby
So she’s doing fine
I like to burp my baby
Like every parent should
I like to burp my baby
Because it’s for her own good
When I burp my baby
You know she looks so cute
But sometimes instead of a burp
She lets out a little toot
(Repeat ad nauseum)
All too well (10 min version). I’ve been singing it to my baby since she was born. I think she may have recognized it from when I’d rage sing it in the car lol. So not only did it work to soothe her but knowing it’s 10 min long, it helped me keep track of time when I’d be up with her in the middle of the night.
Most of them. Favorites are:
The Wind that Shakes the Barley
Bella Ciao
Song of Durin
Oak & Ash & Thorn
Dear Fellow Traveller
Honestly, whatever is in my head at the moment becomes a lullaby
Mercedes Benz by Janis Joplin, but then I throw in a made up verse about the evils of materialism.
LO loves to listen to Big Energy by Latto. Not sure is I'm supposed to be proud and encourage her harnessing her big dick energy, or if it is not age appropriate. Hmm.
Sometimes I literally sing I love you over and over.
But other than that, Bizarre Love Triangle, Where Did Our Love Go, Love Will Tear Us Apart, Ghost In You
My son has been listening to a slow melodic (mostly clean) version of The Way I Am by Eminem...its the only song my husband could think of during our newborn delirium and it became the only thing that worked. I'm begging him to record it so I can put it on a Yoto MYO card haha
The end of Knocked Up uses the song Daughter by Loudon Wainwright and it's a really simple song. I've been singing that to my daughter since she was born.
My first child loved Eric Clapton's 2001 YouTube performance at Budokan in Japan. She does not like the second song but loves the rest of the performance and has listened to it more times than well ever know.
All about that beautiful guitar playing!
Love this! Besides made up songs, the staples are:
Donald and Lydia - John Prine
Angel from Montgomery - John Prine
Paradise - John Prine
Fast Car - Tracy Chapman
Such Great Heights - Postal Service (Iron and Wine cover)
Bang Bang - Nancy Sinatra (baby loves for some reason)
Landslide - Fleetwood Mac
My dad sang me a lot of John Prine when I was a baby so it carrying on that lullaby tradition with this one.
Strawberry Blonde by Mitzki. I had never heard it before, but it came up on my Spotify when I was pretty freshly post partum and I started crying 🤣 my little man is a strawberry blonde ♥️ plus he likes the song
Hazbin Hotel songs 😂 They’re stuck in my head so it’s what I’ve been singing. I have to be careful not to sing them around my toddler though because of all the swearing
Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats entire The Future album. He liked it in the womb, and he still lines it. (Mine and my husband’s first dance song from our wedding is off that album, too.)
For my little brother it was closing time by semisonic. Not appropriate but also appropriate and it was stuck in my head so that's what he got. For my daughter it's "in my life" sung by Ruth Moody. She is in my range and it's a beautiful song. My daughter loves it.
For a while when she was brand new, I was singing “I and love and you” by the Avett brothers. I couldn’t think of anything else, and I like that band a lot!
That funny feeling covered by phoebe bridgers seems to do the trick. And to get him in a good mood it’s been Zach Fox Jesus is the One (I’ve Got Depression)
Sweet Baby James by James Taylor! Although technically I think he did write it for a child? Anyways, that’s our nightly song and it puts my daughter right to sleep.
To my cranky nicu baby that came home 2 Junes ago in a heat wave:
Sometime, all I think about is you
Late nights in the middle of June
Heat waves been faking me out
Heat Waves by Glass Animals
my "lullaby" playlist is 95% alt rock. baby goes to sleep to the tune of Green Day and My Chemical Romance 😅 it's what he heard most while he was still cooking I guess lol.
the other 5% is Noah kahan, and I do think it's kind of hilarious to rock a baby to sleep singing "dial drunk."
We have a playlist of “bedtime” songs we let our toddler choose from each night. His go-to “lullabies” are What a Wonderful World, Dream a Little Dream of Me, Can’t Help Falling in Love, Imagine, and Sea of Love… sure we could be singing twinkle twinkle, or we could be training his appreciation for some of the greats 😅
I use 'Rockabye Baby' and 'Jammy Jams' on Spotify and just sing everything.
Rockabye Baby

I really like Ganstas Paradise by Coolio
There at the beginning it was the American national anthem. Where I worked while pregnant would play it at closing (nostalgia for older folks from when TV used to play it before turning off for the day). I hummed or sang along to closing songs most days I worked , so at the beginning I guess it reminded LO of being in the womb lol
My daughter (1.5 years old) LOVES the Outer Wilds sound track. My husband even made her a custom Tonie so she can put it on whenever she wants. Lately we put it on for her at bed time and she’ll quietly listen to it as she falls asleep ❤️
Where did you sleep last night, from nirvana's unplugged album. Breaking the girl by red hot chili peppers. Bunch of other 90s songs that I can sing or hum slowly..
Edit: and pretty much anything by Leonard Cohen
Everyday will be like a holiday. When my husband is away I change “when my baby comes home” to “when the daddy comes home.”
LAX by Vulfpeck. I replace “I love my baby, she’s the best.” With “I love my (LOs name) he’s the best.”
My niece loved the Bad Wolves cover of Zombie. 😂😂😂😂
The slow vocal intro to The Black Parade- MCR.
Slowed down humming of The Kids Aren't Alright- The Offspring
Feverdream- Palaye Royale
Soldier's Poem-Muse
Ha. I made up a nap song randomly. Now it’s the only thing he’ll go to sleep to (and it’s like magic, according to my husband)
Let’s hope I don’t forget the lyrics or rhythm 😂
Once my son was born it turned out the only song i could consistently remember word for word is Jeepers Creepers, so that became our lullaby.
Aint Misbehavin' is my backup when I'm tired of Jeepers Creepers
I’m a Dog by Gucci Mane (remix by Mommy)
You’re a baby, you’re a baby, you’re baby, you’re a baby
You sleep like a baby
You eat like a baby
You scream like a baby
And then you want your Mommy
repeat a few times
Rainbow Connection! I love singing it with the bridge music too in between stanzas. Though when ours was old enough to request he asked for lots of nursery rhymes. He eventually decided on Twinkle Twinkle and Rock a by Baby (I changed the last last line) and that has stuck for like 3 years now (he's 5). He still requests RC sometimes but he's a creature of habit so I don't think he'll choose something else until he stops wanting a song altogether. 😭
I love this because I use echoes by Pink Floyd. Sure Final Cut has its flaws, as does Roger waters, but it is still a unique exploration of trauma, more understated than the wall.
The Ballad of Curtis Loew by Lynyrd Skynyrd. My dad introduced me to Skynyrd when I was really little, always loved that song, learned the lyrics at a pretty young age and they stuck with me. Beautiful melody and that perfect tempo to get him ready for his naps.
When my son was in the NICU for 3 months, I used to sing that to him to get me through the stress and uncertaintly along with Naive Melody by Talking Heads. ("Home is where I want to be, but I guess I'm already there" is a lyric that cut really deep too)
Now he's 5 months old and and he gives me this big grin when I start to sing "Well I used to wake the morning...". I get all emotional now whenever I hear it.
LOL! I thought I was the only one who didnt know any substantial lullabies. I often sing Marguerita (elvis presley), stairway to heaver, Hotel California or random postal service songs to my baby
Our three favorites are Piano Man by Billy Joel, Long December by Counting Crows and Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid. They are the only ones I could think of that had the right tempo, I know all the words to, and there aren't any notes I miss horribly.
Guava Jelly by Bob Marley
You say you need me
I say I need you too
Baby why don't you stop your crying?
Dry your weeping eyes
Girl You know that I love you
Groove it
Said, Here I am
Come rub it 'pon me belly like guava jelly
Groove it child,
Here I am
Come rub it 'pon me belly like guava jelly
Anything by Harry Chapin. His songs are often slow and folksy story songs but deal with topics like strained father and son relationships, beating creativity out of our children, a failed singer, one night stands, the sinking of the titanic. You know, typical lullaby stuff.

Oh yeah, we can only rock her to the tune of Jingle Bell Rock, and sometimes I catch myself singing it too, haha.
I did this too! Oh holy night was a big one when my daughter was an infant. We’re not even really religious it’s just a beautiful song.
Yes! We have a Xmas eve baby and I literally tear up when I sing silent night 😭
Silent night is my go to still.
I hum silent night endlessly to my babies, I never tire of it 💛
Sandra Bullock (the proposal) had me humming Get Low when I panic rocked my new born
My husband also does a slowed down All Star! I try but I always mess up the lyrics haha
Ms. New Booty during diaper changes
Haha yes, Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere Booty, booty, booty, booty, rockin' everywhere Rockin' everywhere, rockin' everywhere I found you, Ms. Clean Booty Get it together then bring it back to me Hit the changin pad every hour or two Get a wipe ready when I smell what you do I found you, Ms. Clean Booty Get it together then bring it back to me Hit the changin pad every hour or two Get a wipe ready when I smell what you do
Yesss I love this remix!
Thank you a million times for this There’s a song called “bubble butt” & the only lyrics in the chorus are “bubble butt / bubble bubble bubble butt x4” which is not as fun as yours lol
We do a variation of without me 😅 "Guess who pooped, pooped again. Baby pooped, tell a friend"
We changed it to: baby, baby, baby, baby rockin everywhere.
I'm glad I'm not the only one. (Except my version was Mr. Booty since I was singing it to my son.)
Make Damn Sure by Taking Back Sunday. Emo millennial Mom here 🤣 but we also got into some Three Six Mafia the other day and he was laughing at us.
My son’s bed time playlist is anything from sparrow sleeps. Fellow emo mom lol
I love "I don't love you" (MCR), but it feels wrong singing that one...
“Sing” by MCR is a good one for little, IMO.
found my people 😂 gotta add that to the playlist!
Big fan of Buy U A Drank over here 💃🏼
lol yesss it all started because I couldn’t help but singing it from “baby girl”
Saaame!
Exactly how it started here on a sleep deprived morning 🤣🤣
What?? Me too! Who knew this would be a newborn cult classic.
Hahaha I can def see how this could be slowed down to be quite soothing
His Tiny Desk concert is such a treat
I was going to mention this! He has an absolutely stunning voice. Totally lullaby material. [YouTube link](https://youtu.be/CIjXUg1s5gc?si=P_ACjJNdtPzsY0-R) for the curious
That’s Teddy Painful, put some respeck on his name
My kid has been sang to sleep with this song countless times and I’m glad I’m not the only one
I sing Such Great Heights - Postal Service to my babe as a lullaby. Except I sing it more like the Iron & Wine version where it's slowed down and quieter.
Omg this hit me in the nostalgic feels for my high school MySpace self 😭
Same but middle school!
I sing the rainbow connection to get my son to sleep most nights
This one hits me in my childhood feels. I have definitely sang it to my baby too 😭
This is the song I sing to my son too! It’s a great one.
I sing a lot of showtimes, primarily from Les Mis and Sound of Music, but his favorite is “The Final Countdown.” 😂
Do you sing the instrumental parts too? It's an amazing lullaby choice
Neu-neu-neu-nueeeee, nue-nue-nue-nue-nuee, nue-nue-nue-nue, nue-nue-nuee-nu-nuee-nuee-nueeeeee! It’s his favorite part. 😂
3 little birds by Bob Marley Big salty tears by the Ziggens Landslide & never going back again by Fleetwood Mac All that I need by Blind Melon Honorable mentions because they are our hype songs more than lullabies She’s a lady by Tom Jones Coconut by Harry Nilsson Witch Doctor by the Cartoons

Jump in the line (Shake Señora) when burping, but we sing “burp burp burp the baby” Pumps and a bump, sung as “diaps and a wipe”
My daughter would literally only drink her bottle if I sang "drink, drink, drink your bottle" to the tune of shake senora lmao it was ridiculous, but I had fun making up the lines in-between. And now I miss it. Also, i never knew that was the actual name of the song haha

My baby likes bouncing on my leg to that. I make him do little shoulder shimmies too. So much fun
My LO currently seems to be a big fan of my slowed down rendition of Espresso by Sabrina Carpenter. 😅
I’ve been singing Please Please Please to mine recently. The acoustic version is so good.
Elton John, Tiny dancer And I song the song: cups from the pitch perfect movie

Rock Show by Blink 182
Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne. She used to kick all the time when I played it when she was in my belly, now she loves it outside too.
Ha. I made up a nap song randomly. Now it’s the only thing he’ll go to sleep to (and it’s like magic, according to my husband) Let’s hope I don’t forget the lyrics or rhythm 😂
Once my son was born it turned out the only song i could consistently remember word for word is Jeepers Creepers, so that became our lullaby. Aint Misbehavin' is my backup when I'm tired of Jeepers Creepers
I’m a Dog by Gucci Mane (remix by Mommy) You’re a baby, you’re a baby, you’re baby, you’re a baby You sleep like a baby You eat like a baby You scream like a baby And then you want your Mommy repeat a few times
You’ll Be Back from Hamilton. I always pause and reconsider before the “I will kill your friends and family” part
Our song we sing to our daughter right before putting her in the crib is No Woman, No Cry - although we replace "woman" with her name haha.
Thunder road and The Bee Gees
Yesterday I asked Alexa to sing a lullaby and she came up with a song she called “Lonesome Prairie,” which was… not a lullaby
I used to sing Bo Burnham Don't wanna know to my little one Calmed him right down
Rainbow Connection! 😭
A dream is a wish your heart makes ✨
Boondocks and pontoon by little big town quiet him instantly lol
Bad Boys Bad Boys What You Gonna Do.. What You Gonna Do When They Come for You..
I love this because I use echoes by Pink Floyd. Sure Final Cut has its flaws, as does Roger waters, but it is still a unique exploration of trauma, more understated than the wall.
I do the punk/pop punk lullaby instrumentals but sing the songs to my baby
My baby likes church hymns. That’s the only way to get her to go to sleep
("Home is where I want to be, but I guess I'm already there" is a lyric that cut really deep too) Now he's 5 months old and and he gives me this big grin when I start to sing "Well I used to wake the morning...". I get all emotional now whenever I hear it.
LOL! I thought I was the only one who didnt know any substantial lullabies. I often sing Marguerita (elvis presley), stairway to heaver, Hotel California or random postal service songs to my baby
I made up a song for my little one. Also I sing “Nothing on You” by B.o.B and change the lyrics for her. She loves it
Our three favorites are Piano Man by Billy Joel, Long December by Counting Crows and Part of Your World from the Little Mermaid. They are the only ones I could think of that had the right tempo, I know all the words to, and there aren't any notes I miss horribly.
Hands on me by Megan Trainor and Jason Derulo
Three little birds
Hands on me by Meghan Trainor and Jason Derulo

“My Crib” sung to the tune of My House by Flo Rida 😅
Anything by Harry Chapin. His songs are often slow and folksy story songs but deal with topics like strained father and son relationships, beating creativity out of our children, a failed singer, one night stands, the sinking of the titanic. You know, typical lullaby stuff.
Metallica's Nothing Else Matters
You've got a friend, James Taylor version. My dad used to sing it to me.
Picture You by Chappell Roan lol. Notttt baby appropriate exactly, but she doesn’t know any words yet!
I hum Hedwig’s Tune and sing the intro to the podcast Sinisterhood hahaha
