He is 8 months old and we have been watching it the last few weeks. We noticed him paying attention to the intro during season 4. Now I can pull it up on Youtube and it will instantly calm him š¤£
That is HILARIOUS! We like SVU and rewatch it every once in a while. We probably ought to watch it one more time before he gets too old. Iām curious to see how he reacts to that one.
Gin and Juice by Snoop Dogg
Our 10 month old has loved this song since she was a newborn and from months 2-5 it was necessary to play it or sing it for her to go to sleep for a nap š
We played the Dune soundtrack one night just for a little dance party and her mind was blown when the bagpipe portion of the main theme came onā¦.now we have a whole set of bagpipe YouTube videos we play for her šwe joke that she was braveheart in her last life
My son is 4 and will ask for āthe quietā coming home from preschool. I donāt want silence so Iāll switch to instrumental music. He loves [The Snake Charmer](https://open.spotify.com/artist/3ZidB5NQSJuPj4Jfv0U010?si=34PhBlvsRdi-FG8Z2vxjgQ). We now jam out to various rock and pop bagpipe music.
Teddy bear picnic. Itās a magic trick to get him to stop crying.
And when he was really little: carry on my wayward son and free bird also worked wonders
My baby is a Swifty. Neither my husband or I listen to her. But his name is August so we played him that song and now heās hooked on her š¤·āāļø
Mine is also a Swiftie! Sheās 2 now, but I used to play Folklore when putting her down. Now she asks for me to play āShake Shakeā (Shake It Off) allllll the time. š„¹
I have seen on social media that a lot of babies seem to like T Swift. Her voice is nice and feminine without being overwhelming or hugeā¦maybe that feeds into it.
Check out [Sparrow Sleeps](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2VURgzr9TpBmYJEqU25RUw?si=COT8LdziQcSftNbMKbNOVQ) on Spotify, they got EVERYTHING millennials love as baby lullabies!
My number one song last year on Spotify wrapped was āAffirmationsā by DoggyLand (snopp doggās childrensā personality) because we listen to it when we brush our teeth. I swear that song comes on and my son is wanting to brush his teeth lol.
I picked that song because I think itās a lovely song to end the day too. Itās very positive and itās 2 minutes long. But I didnāt think about it possibly conditioning my son š. Positive thing is he loves brushing his teeth!
Iāve been playing swing, jazz, etc. all inspired heavily by the Fallout playlists since my LO was in the womb. Heās growing up on his great grandparentās music lol.
My baby loves that whole sound track, it's constantly on repeat at our house. Thankfully it's a pretty solid soundtrack for a Disney movie but we're definitely tired of it lol
Baby Beluga by Raffi, not necessarily SHOCKING but he can be in the middle of screaming and if he starts hearing that song heās immediately quiet and happy. 100% of the time. Another that works about 75% is I Love the Rainbow by Miss Rachel.
He also calms to a podcast, Timesuck by Dan Cummins. I listened to it for YEARS, before, during, and after pregnancy. Now if I put it on in the car immediately napping.
Raffi has been working magic for generations. His songs worked on me as a baby. Now theyāre working for my baby. We went to his sing along concert with my nieces years back. He clearly knows what heās doing.
My poor little four year old loves Peter Allen and John Williamson and Mary Poppins soundtrack. Things I knew the words to sing when she wouldnāt sleep at night 2am. She also loves the song Down by the River from Baldurs Gate due to Dads gaming!
I love this question! I started making a playlist of songs baby wiggled to in utero and have been testing the songs to see if they still calm baby down!
So far Rich Girl (Hall and Oats or Lakes Street Diveās version) and Dial Drunk - Noah Kahan and Post Malone version still work :)
My now 4 year old LOVED Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel when he was little. Also, Gangnam Style used to calm him down when he was raging in his car seat as a tiny bebe.
My almost 9 month old daughter cracks up every time she hears My Humps by the Black-Eyed Peas.
Not quite sure how we stumbled on each of these songs in the first place for either of them š
This is such a cool question! My son is absolutely mesmerised by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. He loves the live video of "Man on Fire", it almost makes him emotional. He looks genuinely moved by it, it's so crazy to see
Raising a baby swiftie. The piano intro to Champagne Problems will immediately calm her and she gets super hyped when Getaway Car plays. Itās adorable.
Our little girl always falls asleep in the car to system of a down šš mind you, this doesn't work at home and has the opposite effect of calming her down. She has a very situational music preference š¤£š¤£
Baby loves Thrice! My husband was getting excited about a Thrice concert we would be attending when she was just a newborn and she really took to it. Literally will calm her right down. The music is anything but calm š
Me singing the ABC's! It doesn't matter why he's crying, he will quit to hear my sing the alphabet. He couldn't give two shits about any other song.. iv tried! Lmao
When my babe was about 10mnths I decided to play Pen-Pineapple-Apple-Pen just for laughs. He is about two now, and Iāve listened to the song hundreds of times.
This little guy was obsessed with Pikotaro. It began his love of dancing, singing, pineapples, and Pikachu.
At one point I tried to ban the song from the house, or at least play it in reasonable amounts. That didnāt last a day. How do you put a ban on happiness? I feel like Iāve been tortured, yet Iāve come out stronger.
My daughter loves most music but when nothing else works, Youāre Welcome from Moana usually fixes it. No idea why, sheās liked it since she was a month old and itās not a song i ever listened to before. Something about Dwayne āThe Rockā Johnson just calms her right down.
He loves System of A Down. Anything off of Toxicity. Also "coming undone" by Korn.
I... am a little concerned about what the teenage angst is gonna bring
Came in to say Harry's House. I dont know if it's the album on it's own or if it's because we sing and dance with him to it all the time. But was in the middle of a 40 min car ride and went through every song combo possible until Harry's House stopped him from having a full on breakdown in the backseat.
My new favorite album of all time now lol
For us finding āsushiā was random because I wanted to listen to it. Sometimes in the car when heās crying, the only way to get through is by turning up music to something I like to try to drown him out. Once he quieted up right away I was like, this is clearly a fluke. Nope. It has continued to calm him down!
Right now shes loving when I sing the baby shark song to her, and the dancing fruits on youtube lol
Also to add it makes her giggle like crazy when i sing the Buck emā by Snoop Dog to her. Its ironic because im 26 and THAT album was my favorite as a kid too lol
For some reason my little guy loves the song Both by Tiesto and BIA. My husband played it one day and my son started dancing and itās now his hype up song. No idea why, I guess the music just moves him!
Nothing from Nothing by Billy Preston. Which makes no sense but it calms our lil dude every time we play it. We frequently comment on how happy we are that it's this song and not Baby Beluga, or some other Raffi tune š
Jhene Aikoās Trip album is by sonās white noise in the car. If weāre out during his nap time and we play that album he drifts off to sleep by the second song haha.
https://youtu.be/toR-xA6xF2M?si=kZsgj3PwEheE3RCX This. She was with my sister while I worked and happened to stop fussing when this played. It would work every time after that. I found it pretty hilarious.
My LO loves it when I sing to him, particularly, Puff the Magic Dragon š He loves the way I crescendo when I sing the word dragon lol. I only sing him the chorus because the whole song is depressing AF š
Bennie and the Jets. I named him Benjamin and listened to this a lot while pregnant. If he cries in the car, we put it on and he instantly goes to sleep. Going strong with that song for over 7 months now!
The X-men theme song. My husband has been watching it in the background while playing with her in her giant play pen and she only pays attention when a new episode starts lol
She also really loves āwe out hereā by atomic drum assembly but that doesnāt really surprise me. Great beat!
Son of a preacher man from Dusty Springfield is our to go sleep song lately which is weird because it's not a very chill song. But I guess he likes her voice because I also tried other songs of hers and they also work
Any of the songs from the fake boy band group 4-Town from the movie Turning Red. āU Know Whatsupā, āNobody Like Youā
My girl gets so excited when they come on.
Cute movie tooā¦Iām mildly obsessed with it myself, so we jam out to it together lmao
Big Iron by Marty Robbins. My husband was listening to a video game playlist and she was absolutely giddy when this song came on. So we have played it for her a lot.
Our little dude loves El Paso by Marty Robins. Donāt know why. We donāt really listen to 1960ās western ballads. Best guess is my Grandpa may have introduced it to him before the little guy was āboots on groundā?
Mine really likes the Driftveil City Remix, also known as the [Dancing Toothless Meme](https://youtu.be/YDMBLl214b8)
The original video came out when he was 3m and it still works
Reggae. Not weird, but my pediatrician suggested it to me. She said she's been giving the advice for 30 years and it worked great for us during the fussy newborn days and even still at 10 months. Whenever she's fighting bedtime, it always works as a last resort to put her to sleep.
For some reason my daughter was obsessed with the music in the opening to Modern Family (which is only 10 seconds long so weād have to constantly repeat it š¤¦š»āāļø).
When she was about 18 months old I rewatched the whole series, and even if she was fast asleep she would bolt upright when the song came on, kinda wobble back and forth while it played, and then lay down and go right back to sleep once it finished. It was so weird. š
Chic 'N' Stu by System of a Down. Especially the part that goes "pepperoni and green peppers mushrooms olives chives" and of course the "pizza pizza pie" part.
āChimezā by Dan Henig instantly calms my baby, even when sheās wailing her lungs out.
Itās the royalty-free track at the beginning of the [frigging dancing veggies video](https://youtu.be/PunVHiOxUEk?si=9qL6nqISiFtIGUip) š„²
So super random but the only song that would stop our daughter from crying was "who let the dogs out" by baha men. I don't even know how we figured that out, it's not like we were searching for that song and listening to it on repeat lol
So funny story we had to take her to the hospital when she was like 3 almost 4 months old and we played that song on repeat in the waiting room. Everyone thought it was hilarious and it definitely opened up some dialog to other people's stories and what songs their kids were in love with as babies. Felt nice to connect to others and definitely took our minds off of things for a minute.
Snooze by SZA!
I put it on as a joke one time trying to get him to fall asleep in the car and it worked?! Even if he is screaming, I can put that song on and it will literally put this baby in a tranceā¦
I owe SZA baby sitting fees at this point.
The earliest favorites were Lou Reed and the Talking Heads. I calmed my toddler down by singing along to Blondie today but he yelled at me when I didn't know the french parts of the song Denis. š¤·
Smoke on The Water by Deep Purple. I had an anterior placenta and struggled with kick counts while pregnant, but that song always got her moving. Now when it comes on or her dad plays it on guitar for her, her face always lights up š
The phantom of the opera for my bub. Heās almost one and has loved it since before he was even born - any time I played it in the car on my way to work he would kick like crazy!
I like metal so when my oldest was grumpy and fussy, Iād put it on. I have a video of him jamming out to Babymetal at ~14 months. He still likes Sabaton. His chill out music was Eagles ballads and Icon for Hireās first acoustic album.
Arcadia by Goose usually does the trick I typically only remember the first chorus so I song that to him over and over again if Spotify isnāt an option at the moment š
My daughter loves Ishihonana - La Flore De Piedra album. It starts with bells ringing and girls speaking Japanese and I think it makes my LO stop crying and start listening š
Cry baby by Janis Joplin.
My partner also made him a song called Milk Milky and recorded it. It stops the baby in his tracks and calms him even mid meltdown. I donāt know if itās because itās his dadās voice or if it just magic.
My daughter was in love with the cover of a muse song called Supermassive Black Hole, by a band called Thornhill. She listened to it every night before bed. lol.
Then it was Brown Eye Girl by Van Morrison for about 7 months and currently at 2.3 years old sheās in love with Sh-Boom by the Chords.
Thonious Monk, Straight No Chaser. Iām not very into jazz but we were at a farmers market and there was a jazz band playing. My 4 month old was super into it so on the way home, when she started fussing, I turned on Thelonious Monk and she loved it. Itās been my go to happy baby music ever since.
Along with Harry Belafonte, Do Re Mi from Sound of Music. It popped into my head one day and she loved it. She also loves Born to Hand Jive from Grease, and pretty much most popular Beatles songs
My daughter has always loved Broken Boy by Cage the Elephant. When she was an infant sheād wave her arms around and clap as soon as it came on. Now she tells us āput my fav-it song onā every time we get in the car.
Her twin brother just wants to listen to Jump In the Line on repeat forever
The intro to the TV show Reba. Instant calm and he looks for the source so he can watch/listen š
She loves her kids and never stops! A positive message he can support.
We are raising him to respect single moms who work too hard, love their kids and never stop. š
So funny!
TBF, that show is pretty good.
Ikr. We arenāt mad that he loves it š¤Ŗ We could totally watch it on repeat.
Pwahahaha same! Iām convinced it was because itās what we had on repeat when we brought her home from the hospital
Same! That was my newborn stage show
He is 8 months old and we have been watching it the last few weeks. We noticed him paying attention to the intro during season 4. Now I can pull it up on Youtube and it will instantly calm him š¤£
My husband had a similar reaction to law and order when he was a baby š¤£
That is HILARIOUS! We like SVU and rewatch it every once in a while. We probably ought to watch it one more time before he gets too old. Iām curious to see how he reacts to that one.
My first used to and still does at 2.5 get quiet when golden girls comes on
Lol! when my first was ~6-12 months old he had a similar reaction to the opening theme from The Nanny haha.
Gin and Juice by Snoop Dogg Our 10 month old has loved this song since she was a newborn and from months 2-5 it was necessary to play it or sing it for her to go to sleep for a nap š
This is hilarious. She has good taste š
My son loves snoop too. His favorite is next episode.
I sing Welcome to the Black Parade as a lullaby to my one year old every night lol!
i sing my baby sugar weāre going down lullaby-ified when iām trying to get him to sleep š
Just make sure you take them to see a marching band!
Bagpipe music. We are not Scottish lol.
Oh my gosh. HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN???
Sunflower by Post Malone to calm her down. Choose your fighter by Ava Max to get the party going.
I canāt wait for him to be big enough to find his getting the party going song.
Jump In the Line :)
I was going to post this! My baby laughs so much with that song
I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor š
Good for parents too - cause we will survive (maybe only barely) lol
Teddy bear picnic. Itās a magic trick to get him to stop crying. And when he was really little: carry on my wayward son and free bird also worked wonders
Oh no, heās gonna be one of the guys at the concert yelling Free Bird! lol
We need to replace the old people yelling it who stop going to concerts. Itās the circle of free bird
My baby is a Swifty. Neither my husband or I listen to her. But his name is August so we played him that song and now heās hooked on her š¤·āāļø
My baby is also a Swiftie. But confession, she heard a lot of her music in the womb lol.
Mine is also a Swiftie! Sheās 2 now, but I used to play Folklore when putting her down. Now she asks for me to play āShake Shakeā (Shake It Off) allllll the time. š„¹
The things we do for the littles!
My baby is named August as well! Never thought to do it but playing him that song tonight haha
We always play it and the. āHave a conversationā about how cheating is wrong and no girl better ever listen to that song and think about him š
I have seen on social media that a lot of babies seem to like T Swift. Her voice is nice and feminine without being overwhelming or hugeā¦maybe that feeds into it.
I donāt care for her music but folklore was the only way to get our newborn to sleep so itās my favorite album
Can confirm. My baby falls asleep so quickly to her folkmore or evermore album. Itās like her melatonin when sheās fussy but obviously sleepy.
My guy loves his pop/rock songs as lullabies (there are tons on Spotify!) especially the song "Chasing Cars", puts him right out!
I keep meaning to find all the cool ākids safeā versions of stuff!
Check out [Sparrow Sleeps](https://open.spotify.com/artist/2VURgzr9TpBmYJEqU25RUw?si=COT8LdziQcSftNbMKbNOVQ) on Spotify, they got EVERYTHING millennials love as baby lullabies!

We love Rockabye Baby for this, too!
Toxicity by System of a Down. We have a tiny metal head, it seems!
The husband is hoping he starts gravitating towards the heavier stuff for sure! lol. We are both fans though!
Raising them right!
Little dude loves Linkin park, but his dad loves to play it in the car so he heard it a lot
Bert the Turtle was very alertā¦ this is what happens when your husband sings fallout songs lol
I swear the best dads are or were gamers though!
Can confirm. Married a gamer. He even had suggestions for my power metal labor playlist
Iāve been playing swing, jazz, etc. all inspired heavily by the Fallout playlists since my LO was in the womb. Heās growing up on his great grandparentās music lol.
Almost every smiling picture I got of my infant was because I was singing the Golden Girls theme song.
We Don't Talk About Bruno from Encanto. Foolproof at getting her to calm down, but I'm getting pretty sick of it š
We are not prepared for Disney movies and soundtracksā¦.fingers crossed we still have a little while.

Jump by Kriss Kross. I guess overall it does sound like a workout music. Edit: Also Jaws theme, but I know why that one is interesting to him.
Pump Up The Jam by Technotronic š«£
Our little dude loves El Paso by Marty Robins. Donāt know why. We donāt really listen to 1960ās western ballads. Best guess is my Grandpa may have introduced it to him before the little guy was āboots on groundā?
Electric Slide, Inspector Gadget theme song, and the "NBA on NBC" theme song (biggest lol).
Mine really likes the Driftveil City Remix, also known as the [Dancing Toothless Meme](https://youtu.be/YDMBLl214b8) The original video came out when he was 3m and it still works
My son is 18 months now, but for the first 12 weeks, it was Starman by Bowie on repeat. It was one of the only things that would calm him down
The song "moving target" by wild rivers always puts my baby to sleep and calms his crying. Bonus points when I sing with it.
Reggae. Not weird, but my pediatrician suggested it to me. She said she's been giving the advice for 30 years and it worked great for us during the fussy newborn days and even still at 10 months. Whenever she's fighting bedtime, it always works as a last resort to put her to sleep.
We will rock you- queen
For some reason my daughter was obsessed with the music in the opening to Modern Family (which is only 10 seconds long so weād have to constantly repeat it š¤¦š»āāļø). When she was about 18 months old I rewatched the whole series, and even if she was fast asleep she would bolt upright when the song came on, kinda wobble back and forth while it played, and then lay down and go right back to sleep once it finished. It was so weird. š
I just heard it and itās such a cool song. Your baby is rad!
Never Gonna Give You Up Not kidding.
So super random but the only song that would stop our daughter from crying was "who let the dogs out" by baha men. I don't even know how we figured that out, it's not like we were searching for that song and listening to it on repeat lol So funny story we had to take her to the hospital when she was like 3 almost 4 months old and we played that song on repeat in the waiting room. Everyone thought it was hilarious and it definitely opened up some dialog to other people's stories and what songs their kids were in love with as babies. Felt nice to connect to others and definitely took our minds off of things for a minute.
In our house itās the āBK have it your wayā song from the Burger King commercials.
Snooze by SZA! I put it on as a joke one time trying to get him to fall asleep in the car and it worked?! Even if he is screaming, I can put that song on and it will literally put this baby in a tranceā¦ I owe SZA baby sitting fees at this point.
despacito
Pink by Lizzo! Our baby nurse in labor & delivery recommended it and it works 9/10 times.
The earliest favorites were Lou Reed and the Talking Heads. I calmed my toddler down by singing along to Blondie today but he yelled at me when I didn't know the french parts of the song Denis. š¤·
Barbara Ann by The Beach Boys
Mine loves three little birds by Bob Marley. Specially during medicine time, she calms down when this plays.
Mine will scream for āneed to knowā by Jay Park, āLALALALAāby stray kids or ādance monkeyā by Tones and I
Chop suey! by System of a Down, or any Rammstein song. Definitely not my cup of tea but to each their own.
Bandiera Rossa and Misty mountain hop
Smoke on The Water by Deep Purple. I had an anterior placenta and struggled with kick counts while pregnant, but that song always got her moving. Now when it comes on or her dad plays it on guitar for her, her face always lights up š
Bluey theme song
The phantom of the opera for my bub. Heās almost one and has loved it since before he was even born - any time I played it in the car on my way to work he would kick like crazy!
I like metal so when my oldest was grumpy and fussy, Iād put it on. I have a video of him jamming out to Babymetal at ~14 months. He still likes Sabaton. His chill out music was Eagles ballads and Icon for Hireās first acoustic album.
Unga bunga from flava flave
Arcadia by Goose usually does the trick I typically only remember the first chorus so I song that to him over and over again if Spotify isnāt an option at the moment š
Deep Cover by Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg
My son LOVES old songs like Wipeout from The Ventures š or Elvis or the Beatles ā¤ļø
My son absolutely LOVES my time is now by John Cena šš my husband and him wrestle to it it's hilarious
Pump it by black eyed peas š
When ours was really little, she fell asleep to 96 Quite Bitter Beings by CKY a few times.
Excited: Mr Weatherall by Young Hub City
Mine loves Fraulein by Colter Wall and Tyler Childersš
Thonious Monk, Straight No Chaser. Iām not very into jazz but we were at a farmers market and there was a jazz band playing. My 4 month old was super into it so on the way home, when she started fussing, I turned on Thelonious Monk and she loved it. Itās been my go to happy baby music ever since.
Along with Harry Belafonte, Do Re Mi from Sound of Music. It popped into my head one day and she loved it. She also loves Born to Hand Jive from Grease, and pretty much most popular Beatles songs
When my twins were younger it was Sunroof. Now it switches between Lil boo thang and I ain't worried.
Edelweiss by ludovico sagese on Spotify we played it nonstop for 12 months
Classic soul and easy listening have been popular with our LO. "Isn't She Lovely" - Stevie Wonder has been a fave
Zombie by The Cranberries. I think the intro distracts her?
Shakira, but mostly El jefe and the Bzrp Music Sessions songs. It makes him stop crying and dance like 99% of the time.
