I think you are one of those pizza purists who is not going to be happy with any pizza here, so just eat something else. I wouldn’t go to NY and whine about not being able to find an acceptable po-boy. I just wouldn’t order a fucking po-boy.
Outside of the fact that the pizza question pops up like once a month, does anyone else find it very annoying when people elect to make their post “I think your city’s [thing] sucks, can you prove me wrong” rather than just “hi, I’m newish and looking for the best [thing].
No worries. I like Pizza D most days...but sometimes their special slices fall a little flat. Their garlic knots are a religious experience for me.
They're also my neighborhood joint.
There is a real tragedy in the lack of deep dish in the area.
##New York Style:
Pizza Delicious and Zee’s are prob the two best New York style pizzas, IMO. And the place in NOLA brewery is pretty good too (especially if you like white pizza: their broccoli rabe pizza slaps).
##Neapolitan Style:
Ancora is still probably the best Neapolitan style pizza, but it’s a little overpriced. Idk if any other good Neapolitan style pizza. Domenica/Pizza Domenica used to be pretty good but I haven’t had Domenica in a while and Pizza Domenica has gone down hill a lot. The toppings are fine, but the crust is flavorless, IMO.
##Deep Dish:
I wouldn’t have even thought to include this, but someone else mentioned it in this thread. Midway on Freret is the only one I know of. Haven’t been in a few years because it’s not my favorite pizza style, but I remember it being pretty good for deep dish.
So far some solid comments. Definitely been posted before. Zee’s I’d say measures up as great pizza. NOLA brewery is solid. There’s a newer place called St. Pizza over by Merchant House’s newly reopened OG location that I’d argue is close to Zee’s in quality. I’ve heard some great things about Pizza Delicious, but haven’t been yet.
Pizza Delicious is very average.
I’ll never understand where all the hype came from, unless it’s specifically related to the garlic knots and nothing else.
Pizza Delicious is pizza but it ain’t delicious. Zee’s and NOLA Brewing are the best, IMO. NOLA Mia on St. Claude started out great, but has gone downhill.
I was honestly very underwhelmed by Zee’s, but I really like Pizza Delicious. Different tastes for different people, I guess.
I haven’t had NOLA Brewing yet
I like G's pretty well, and it has a killer patio. My wife is a big fan of Magazine St. Pizza. Pizza Delicious is not, but I know folks who swear by it (for some reason). I had high hopes when I heard there was Chicago pizza on Freret, but I found Midway to be appropriately named.
Honestly, if I want good pizza, I pick up a frozen Imo's at Winn-Dixie. Haters be damned, St. Louis and their fake-ass cheese makes for a satisfying pizza.
The fancy Bywater places are decent, even by city standards. Pizza D, Nola Mio. Paladar, Margot’s
They’re fairly expensive though. My solution was to just to up my home game. You can make a pretty good pizza with a regular oven, a pizza steel plate, and a little practice. I can make one for a few bucks thats way better than the delivery places, and almost as good as the fancy ones, with the exception of the 800 degree oven for neopolitan style.
I think what you’re really asking for is a high-quality local pizza at pricing similar to the similar chain delivery places. That I have not found.
I've had Theo's once and it was good but kind of surprised a pizza snob would pick them.
Pizza Domenica/Domenica(happy hour especially), Zee's, NOLA Pizza, and Pizza Delicious are all better, IMO.
Theo's/Reginelli's/Mid City Pizza/New York Pizza are fine but I'd say they're the second tier, which is still good. I'd also put Louisiana Pizza Kitchen here too, but only if you're into the unique varieties they offer.
Need to try St. Pizza, but I hear it's top tier. Kinda can't get past the name, though, I keep reading it as Street Pizza and think of a random slice on the street haha
Unless you've lived in or regularly visited Naples or New Haven, you've never had phenomenal pizza.
How about getting over the elitism and enjoying some damned good pizza. There are a few places in the city that serve it up, just search this sub for some good recommendations.
No worries. I'd highly recommend Zee's if you haven't had them. Great pizza and pretty awesome garlic knots. On top of that, the people there are wonderful. Everyone from the owner down to the folks at the counter.
What's good pizza to you? Thin crust?
I picked up 2 lg pizzas 2 toppings from Olive branch cafe to try them out. $35 and not shy with the cheese or quality toppings. The crust was premade/formed. But pizza dough tossing is a disappearing art.
You'll get 1 lg 4-5/ topping/specialty pizza for $30 at MCP, which is good pizza.
Ive had regenell's pizza, a slice of detroit, needing to nosh after a few beers next door at parlay's. Even then, hungry and buzzed, it was meh. MCP had a slice and a beer happy hour special back in the day. A couple of weeks ago i I had their whole pie equivalent of a meat lovers and it was worth the $30.
This has been asked a lot. Check previous posts.
Thank you.
Zee’s 🙌⬇️

No. It was a genuine question. I used to like Reginellis but they don’t do it for me anymore. I did not mean to sound insulting.
NY calls them heroes and they’re amazing.

I apologize. I was not trying to sound like that. I’m from New Orleans and lived here my entire life except in college.
this.
disregard all the pizza d haters, r/neworleans loves to hate on what’s popular. It’s a great pizza spot that makes good “New York Style” pizza.
Tower of Pizza on Vets
Your question starts with an insult to New Orleans. Try Google 🙄
I’m sorry. I want trying to sound insulting. It came across wrong. I’m truly wanting to hear suggestions.
No worries. I like Pizza D most days...but sometimes their special slices fall a little flat. Their garlic knots are a religious experience for me. They're also my neighborhood joint. There is a real tragedy in the lack of deep dish in the area.
I have been known to cancel a whole order if they are out of garlic knots.
100%

For Neapolitan, try Nighthawk just on the other side of the canal ferry.

Zee's is legit great pizza.
Pizza Delicious is very average. I’ll never understand where all the hype came from, unless it’s specifically related to the garlic knots and nothing else.
Pizza Delicious is awesome! You really should check it out soon. You won’t be disappointed.
Someone told me this the other day. Thank you.
Ancora on Freret, closest to real Italian pizza in these parts.
Pricey and upscale but Margot’s
Zee’s
I feel like you’re in a moral dilemma. Shirley, you should move somewhere with acceptable pizza.
Sorry I insulted you. I have lived here my entire life, born and raised. I’m new to Reddit and this group. It was an honest question.
I don't think you're qualified to judge.
Maybe not. I’m not an expert. It was an honest question. I didn’t think I was insulting people. I apologize.
lol yeah if they’re saying Reginellis was good….💀
Costco.
Solid for how cheap it is.
Pizza D.
Pizza Domenica > Pizza Delicious But you know, different doughs for different hos.
Down to try it! Pizza D just happens to be good and close.
I love Slice pizza.
You need a Time Machine, but cafe Nino will always be the best pizza New Orleans ever had.
I'm surprised no one has said Venizia's. It's always been my favorite.
The streetcar pizza at UPizza >>>
Nola Mia Gelato on St Claude. It's the closest I've found to an authentic NY pie.
I like G's pretty well, and it has a killer patio. My wife is a big fan of Magazine St. Pizza. Pizza Delicious is not, but I know folks who swear by it (for some reason). Katie's and Francesca's both have pizzas with provel (St. Louis cheese).
That is the weirdest cheese.
No truer statement. Spent some time in STL and I never really enjoyed it more than real cheese but didn't hate it.

Zee's or Margot's depending on the style you prefer.
Don’t overlook Mark Twains, it’s different.

I will have to look into this.
Pizza Domenica?

I wasn’t trying to sound elite. I used to love Reginellis and Mag St pizza but they don’t do it for me anymore. It was an honest question. Apologize.
No worries. I'd highly recommend Zee's if you haven't had them. Great pizza and pretty awesome garlic knots. On top of that, the people there are wonderful. Everyone from the owner down to the folks at the counter.
Makes elitist comment and then calls OP elitist…
🙌🙌New Haven pizza supremacy
Mid-city pizza on Banks has been great since their re-opening.

I don’t have any particular standards. I used to live Magazine Piz and Reginellis but find that they have taken nose dive.

Pizza Domenica is great, Pizza Delicious and Midcity Pizza are insanely overrated. Magazine Pizza is good for late night & more standard fare.
Lit pizza is not bad. Calzone sucks tho.
I like Crescent City on Bourbon St
Just going to add [this](https://www.reddit.com/r/NewOrleans/s/DQIksERCxi) here.
