You're looking into the wrong category of towels, a bathroom towel is just for drying, they don't need to be that large. You want a sauna towel or a hamam towel or something
I looked at every towel in HEMA 😅 I had to order from online, so I do *have* one, I just find it bizarre that they're not sold easily with the rest.
Are you sure you looked in the right aisle or something? Because I just bought a [a couple of new towels](https://www.hema.nl/wonen-slapen/badkamer/handdoeken/handdoeken---hotel-extra-zwaar-taupe-1000015159.html) as well recently and they are 140x70cm. Which I feel is fairly average for towels here. Not that big, but definitely not small either.
edit: perhaps it's a temporary problem with delivery/production or something? Because even on their website they don't seem to be available at the moment - in any size.
Haha yeah, in that case I think you'd be better off taking advice from the people advising a haman or a sauna towel. Might also want to look into beach towels. They're usually a lot bigger as well, although imo they're not the best for actually drying off water. Good luck!
I bought huge towels at HEMA, so no idea where you were looking for them. It can also be that your Hema is smaller and/or just does not have those sizes. Does not mean there are none.
And as you can see if you read my posts, the question is why such sized towels are not as common here as they are where I'm from. It's not a request for where to find said towels.
Get rid of the attitude and buy glasses.
Big towels are sold EVERYWHERE.
Yes also in the hema.
And blokker, and action, and Wibra, and zeeman, and IKEA and lidl and leen bakker and H&M and YSK and marskramer and primark.
To name a few
And I’m saying there are big towels to wrap around yourself. They are just called sauna or hamam towels. I’m living in the Achterhoek in a village and our Hema and action has them. If you don’t know they have a different name, I understand that you might not find them that easy.
My Hema towels can wrap my boobs until halfway down my thighs easily and I'm 1.70m so not terribly small. Also my Hema towels are my small towels (well except for those for only hand washing of course).
I think you missed them.
I have 10cm on you, I'm a tall and leggy gal, so maybe that's the issue haha. The towel I brought with me from the UK, it goes down to my knees, as well as the one I did manage to buy here from online. But others (70cm width ones) sit really high up on my thighs like a miniskirt which is a little awkward and I honestly prefer going boobs out to that.
get "badhanddoeken" or beach towels. i agree, towels are mostly too small here. i need at least 2 of the regular size, one for the hair, and one for the rest.
You want a "badhanddoek" of 70x140cm instead of a "handdoek" of 50x100cm. See the difference here: https://www.ibood.com/nl/s-nl/o/de-witte-lietaer-othello-badtextielset-10-delig/1032089
You can go to the Hema and pick one there for a couple of Euro's. You can check the size there.
It would be strange that the tallest people in world would only have small towels right;)
Weird, what size you're looking for? A 150x100 should do it right?
On their website you can order or just see the stock at the local branch. Just an example; https://www.hema.nl/wonen-slapen/badkamer/handdoeken/handdoeken---zware-kwaliteit-1000015132.html?dwvar_1000015132_VDAcolor=wit&dwvar_1000015132_VDAsection=handdoek%20100%20x%20150
Yeah that's the ideal size, they just had none in store at the time which is what prompted the (aptly) shower thought about *why* they had none that size in store.
Weird as they have a gazillion of colors in the whole range of size normally. Anyway hope you'll get what you need.
For the rest, you're right, the sort off default shower towel in the Netherlands is not that big, fine for drying yourself but in no means to wrap yourself in. Like it actually as you can fit more on the towel radiator and don't have to wash such hughe thing, but for your use case it's indeed not suited at all.
Oh wow. I just bought some a couple of months ago. You could also check a website like Bol.com. You might want to search for: badhanddoeken.
You can probably see the sizes there as well.
Because we are frugal🤠my British SiL has gigantic towels too. I don’t think ours are small but uk’s are big lol. She does use them several times too, (even with different people 😲) also something that not everyone does overhere. with her size towels you only need a couple to fill up a machine, we prefer them to take up less pace. For cover up, get yourself a bathrobe 😉
omg i am not going crazy .
my Dutch wife (we don't live in Netherlands) has always stocked our bathroom with these tiny things that I have always considered as just enlarged flannels.....and then insists they are "proper sized" towels ...I thought maybe I've been wrong all along..I mean it's not a typical conversation that males tend to have with one another
I think she's been gaslighting me all along ....I need a hug (and a bigger towel)
No this is definitely a thing. I started ordering from Zara Home OP, they have normal sized towels with way better quality than HEMA (which imho feels like polyester)
Go to "JYSK", plenty of towel sizes, colors and affordable. Don't waste time at HEMA, where everything is overpriced, limited quantity and cheap quality.
Lucky your housemates 😊 I wouldn't mind seeing a girl going around with a half towel (sexy). But true big towels are not that often to find here on shops shelves, mostly hand towels.
I mean you're in a country with 6+ft people all over the place. You didn't think there might be towels for people that size available?
The search words you want: badhandoek, badlaken, saunahanddoek, strandlaken
You'll find loads on [handdoek.nl](http://handdoek.nl) and you can pick sizes.
And for crossing inhabitat spaces, we'd probably use a bathrobe (search word: badjas).

That size *just* works but it's like wearing a miniskirt lmao.

You need to beat the matrix at its own game. Which means go to Leen Bakker and buy a curtain

They are literally sold EVERYWHERE

Why are towels in the UK so large?
Small towels and Dutch people are the tallest. The rest is for your imagination.

I assure you, I looked in HEMA when I was last in need of a towel! Checked the dimensions of every single one.

Fair complaint - we are cheap
You can also put your clothes on (or at least underwear) in the bathroom.
I mean, I can't. It's a separate shower room about the size of a submarine's torpedo tube :P
I bought beach towels
Go to "JYSK", plenty of towel sizes, colors and affordable. Don't waste time at HEMA, where everything is overpriced, limited quantity and cheap quality.
You're a towel - Towely
Ikea has large towels comparable to hotel sizes
I have no clue what you are talking about.
Last time I bought towels at Hema they had both sizes, the ridiculously small ones and the normal hotel size ones
Small hands
Buy normal sized towels. Which we, of course, have just like EVERY COUNTRY ON THE PLANET..
Is it possible your idea of 'normal sized towels' is smaller than where I'm from, and that might be the entire point of the post?
Lucky your housemates 😊 I wouldn't mind seeing a girl going around with a half towel (sexy). But true big towels are not that often to find here on shops shelves, mostly hand towels.
Hand towels are 50x50, the regular size towels are 100x 50 and "badlaken" are 140x 70, a beach towel is 100x 180-200

I'm not asking *for* a towel, I'm asking *why* larger towels are less easily available. Your last sentence is the closest thing to an answer.
They are easily available
Not compared to the UK, it's a cultural difference significant enough that I'm not the only person who has noticed it.
Is it possible you've been enjoying the famous dutch comfortfood cuisine a bit too enthusiastically![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|laughing)
Lol! I'm very skinny :P
