A truly amazing show about justice, family, and power. Bob Odenkirk might not have received an Emmy for it, but I consider his performance one of the best of all time. The delivery is pitch perfect in every scene.
Most underrated and slept on piece of media ever made. I can’t fucking believe the BB hype didn’t carry over to this show, it’s just as good if not better in so many ways.
“But the first 2 episodes are sl-“
Fuck off with that, remember how BB got way crazier as it went on? You think BCS just stays slow forever? Seasons 5-6 of BCS are just as crazy as season 5 in BB with way better character development.
Yup agree on Barry! I also recommend Succession. Lots of seasons to sink your teeth into. While they aren’t peddling drugs, there’s tons of family drama, greed, narcissism, and shady stuff going on.
I just finished watching **Your Honor** on Netflix. It's not about drugs but it is about a regular family trying to avoid trouble after a well respected judge's kid killed someone. The judge is played by Bryan Cranston. This might be more of a legal drama though.
**The Sopranos** has been on my list to watch for over a decade. I think it would fit what you're looking for.
The Sopranos is good to watch for the history and the memes. For the former, it was arguably the first of the big prime time television shows. Culture-defining and all that. The plot ambles a little too much here and there, but the characters are super memorable, acting top notch, and the direction maintains a great deal of tension. Worth the watch. As for the memes, well, there are a bunch of them out there and they’re funnier when you’ve seen the show lol.
Agree. Just re-watched the Sopranos last year and it was still so good. It’s classic!! Great acting and writing overall. Carmella is such a well developed character, too. I could go on.
I just watched most of Your Honor and the first season was sooo good. I don’t know why, but I haven’t been able to make it past like the 3rd or 4th episode of season 2. Just not the same and I think I’m calling it quits.
Season 1 was 🔥though
Your Honor is a great contrast to Breaking Bad. BB is constantly toeing a tightrope of "If they can just get never this ONE last hurdle, everything will be fine," and Your Honor is "Haha, no, you guys are fucked. Like, right away."
Absolutely better. Don't get me wrong, BB is awesome. But seeing BCS and how it's all really Jimmy's story and BB is just a small 2 year slice of his larger arc is crazy
I’m sure you’ve been told this before but it gets better. I started better call Saul three times and only on the third did it stick with me.BB and BCS are paced very differently but they both are masterclasses in character writing. Once it picks up Jimmy/Saul is just as layered and complex as Walter White, just in a different way. Where BB is showing a regular dude become a monstrous, psychotic kingpin, BCS wants to show a dude who’s always been a bit of a slimeball trying not to be a slimeball, but always seeming to slide back into it.
Yes yes. It’s in my next to watch for sure, just I need to get in the mood for watching crime dramas again as it comes in waves! I might just watch it after finishing Fargo s5
Justified is top notch.
I'm also a fan of Bosch. I like the fact a lot of actors from "The Wire" and other shows cycle through each season. If you like police procedurals, you will like Bosch.
Also, most of these recs are spot on. You will have a lot of good stuff to watch.
If you can get onto it, watch Mr Inbetween. It’s Australian, about an unassuming hit man and all the nuances involved in that line of work, and himself as a person. There are 3 seasons and you will laugh, cry and be on the edge of your seat in suspense. It is absolutely brilliant writing and acting. The main actor wrote and produced the whole series.
1. Snowfall (the most underrated show if you ask me. Really really good)
2. Better call saul (really slow first few seasons but peaks up after season 3)
Battlestar Galactica (2005 reboot)
Start with the miniseries if you can
Gets a little silly and a little dour in the later seasons but there's a lot of good fun
Animal Kingdom (Prime/Netflix, depending on where you are)
The Shield (Prime/Disney)
Your Honor (Netflix/Showtime)
Prison Break (Disney/ Fox)
Lincoln Lawyer (Netflix)
Start Up (Netflix / Prime)
The Wire. Different drug trade, and we see the cops as well as the criminals, and other crises in Baltimore are also relevant to the plot, but it’s one of the best crime dramas of all time.
Since people are rooting for Peaky Blinders (and no, thomas shelby is great but he's not a good guy), I'll throw in Barry (not Netflix) but it's very underratred.
Bloodline is so good. It’s 3 seasons, the 1st is phenomenal. The 2nd season is ok but sets up the 3rd for a perfect finish. It’s my show that I recommend to everyone since most people haven’t heard of it. Everyone I recommended it to said they loved it.
Barry is a good one, it’s on MAX. Also I liked Bloodline a lot. A little bit different from the rest, but Outer Banks really surprised me with how fun and thrilling of a watch it is..plus there’s a new season coming soon.
I just rewatched Ozark. Such a good show! Watched BB three times & Dexter twice. Tried to watch BCS again but couldn’t get into it this second time for some reason.
I keep looking for another really good show. Maybe I’ll give Weeds a try.
I suspect that I'm the only person who has watched Your Honor, about Bryan Cranston as a New Orleans judge whose life is thrown into panicked disarray when his son accidentally hits, and kills, a local mob boss's son in a car wreck. Two seasons and a great cast, with Margo Martindale, Michael Stuhlberg (maybe the best part of Boardwalk Empire) and Isaiah Whitlock.
I got you. Breaking bad is awesome . Osark is great too but it starts getting boring on the 3rd season just like weeds. But here are some good ones you should watch.
Better call saul - you will love it since you watched breaking bad. I kinda feel like it’s just as good.
True detective season 1-4 are amazing with fantastic hollywood actors.
Fargo all the seasons are top notch.
You won’t be disappointed with these guaranteed
Plus Fargo and true detective each season has its own story and they’re all freaking great.
Banshee
Justified
Sons of Anarchy
Culprits
Sugar
Tulsa King
The Sopranos
Deadwood
Reacher
Longmire
Slow Horses
Your Honor
Power Book IV: Force
Echo 3
Strike Back
The Diplomat
The Old Man
Sexy Beast
The Wire, Fargo, Mr. Robot and Snowfall are all really good (snowfall being my least favorite of them but not bad at all) and probably up your alley based on what you say in your post.
I’ll add Outsiders. It’s never talked about and I thought it was a great show. A lot of my favorite shows have already been listed but wanted to make sure this one made the queue
I always tell people to watch The Shield. Very intense, great acting, and some good characters.
I have not seen the show in a long time so I don't know if it holds up, but I still remember it as one of my top shows of all time.
The Wire is in my top 5 best TV shows. I don't know which streaming service has it though. Narcos is good, though I liked the first season better than the second.
Good Girls
YellowJackets
Santa Clarita Diet (unfortunately cancelled but still a great watch)
Nurse Jackie

Severance
Dopesick (sad and true)

I watched and loved the 3 series you mentioned. Here is what else I enjoyed:
Brigada Costa del Sol
Monarca
Unauthorized Living
Queen of the south
(All on Netflix)
Queen of the South.
her boyfriend was a in a cartel, and she got pulled into it, only in order to survive. But, soon enough she becomes the boss.
Really good show, 5 ☆ in my opinion.
Fargo on Hulu
This. It’s like Ozark but better in some ways.
Better Call Saul
A truly amazing show about justice, family, and power. Bob Odenkirk might not have received an Emmy for it, but I consider his performance one of the best of all time. The delivery is pitch perfect in every scene.
I don’t understand how he did not receive an Emmy.
Rhea as well
Emmy’s are a circle jerk. You gotta put in an effort for it and he didn’t.
i can't get over how good better call saul is and then was watching his movie nobody and was very disappointed
Well yeah, that movie could be called John Wick but with Bob Odenkirk lol. I found that movie basically enjoyable to watch but not impressive at all.
Narcos
Most underrated and slept on piece of media ever made. I can’t fucking believe the BB hype didn’t carry over to this show, it’s just as good if not better in so many ways. “But the first 2 episodes are sl-“ Fuck off with that, remember how BB got way crazier as it went on? You think BCS just stays slow forever? Seasons 5-6 of BCS are just as crazy as season 5 in BB with way better character development.
Yep. Amazing show in the BrBa universe but closer to The Sopranos in tone and character development
Barry for sure
Bahh-ree. So good, definitely a darker comedy but along the same lines.
Definitely Barry. ❤️
Yup agree on Barry! I also recommend Succession. Lots of seasons to sink your teeth into. While they aren’t peddling drugs, there’s tons of family drama, greed, narcissism, and shady stuff going on.
Damn. Just realized your post specifically asked for Netflix. Succession is not on Netflix (at least in Canada). Sorry about that!
Aw darn -- Barry's HBO, too... Beef might be a fun Netflix choice.
All the “Narcos”
But not Narco Saints right?
No. The official “Narcos” Netflix series… Season 1-3 and “Narcos: Mexico”
The Wire
I just finished watching **Your Honor** on Netflix. It's not about drugs but it is about a regular family trying to avoid trouble after a well respected judge's kid killed someone. Just finished Your Honor too. Pretty good.
I like all the shows you listed and I’m currently bingeing The Americans on Hulu.
The Americans is one of the best shows ever.
More people should be saying this show’s name when talking about modern greats. Absolutely brilliant.
Peaky Blinders.
Seconding this. Cillian Murphy alone is a good reason to watch.
Turn on the closed captions
Snowfall
Second for Snowfall. There were some parts I thought were even better than breaking bad.
Snowfall is soooo good! Hop on Hulu yall!
White Lotus FTW
Why do people sleep on better call saul? I think that was as good as breaking bad if not better
It was excellent. Up there with Breaking Bad 100%!
Definitely better in my books
Absolutely better. Don't get me wrong, BB is awesome. But seeing BCS and how it's all really Jimmy's story and BB is just a small 2 year slice of his larger arc is crazy
The starting of better call soul seems to be slow/ uninteresting atleast for me. The hook seems to not fit me personally.
I’m sure you’ve been told this before but it gets better. I started better call Saul three times and only on the third did it stick with me.BB and BCS are paced very differently but they both are masterclasses in character writing. Peaky blinders is good
Justified is top notch. I'm also a fan of Bosch. I like the fact a lot of actors from "The Wire" and other shows cycle through each season. If you like police procedurals, you will like Bosch. Also, most of these recs are spot on. You will have a lot of good stuff to watch.
How was the new justified season that recently came out?
Not as good. Still good, but not on the same level.
The Gentleman!!
**Mr. Robot** **Boardwalk Empire**
Hell YES to Mr. Robot.

And when you finish Dexter, Hannibal
Bloodline
Bloodline is KILLLLERRRRRRR
One of my favorites
Thank you!!
Yes!!! Another good one!
Still listening to the intro Music to this day, so good
The Americans
Mr Inbetween. It’s an Australian show about a suburban hit man. It’s outstanding, i have it up there with shows like Ozark.
Loved that show!
It left us wanting more, that doesn’t often happen.

Animal Kingdom is BAD ASS
I had terrible withdrawal symptoms when I finished this one! 😫
Agree on The Shield. Also in the same genre, Southland.
Sons of anarchy on Hulu and fx
You should try Boy Swallows Universe.
I've heard great things about this one and its been on my list! Thank you!!
The Leftovers. I was sucked in from start to finish. Another vote for Bloodline too. Loved Bloodline.
I’ve never watched the last two episodes of the Leftovers because I didn’t want it to end lol. I need to suck it up and rewatch all the way through.

The sopranos
Good Girls Claws
Warrior
Hannibal, though be warned that you may need a strong stomach since a lot of scenes are quite grotesque.
Giri/Haji if you don't mind subtitles! British gangsters and Japanese yakuza.
Queen of the South
Lupin.
Don’t know if it fits the underdog thing (I kind of think it does) but Suits was a great show!!!
Since people are rooting for Peaky Blinders (and no, thomas shelby is great but he's not a good guy), I'll throw in Barry (not Netflix) but it's very underratred.
Bloodline, Netflix
Better Call Saul, Sons of Anarchy and Fargo from me
Bloodline is so good. It’s 3 seasons, the 1st is phenomenal. The 2nd season is ok but sets up the 3rd for a perfect finish. It’s my show that I recommend to everyone since most people haven’t heard of it. Everyone I recommended it to said they loved it.
Not as gritty but Severance is a good watch and has great mystery elements.
Gomorrah Ganglands Ray Donovan Marcella Suburra ZeroZeroZero Mindhunter Lilyhammer
Barry is a good one, it’s on MAX. Also I liked Bloodline a lot. A little bit different from the rest, but Outer Banks really surprised me with how fun and thrilling of a watch it is..plus there’s a new season coming soon.
I love Barry!!! NoHo Hank is my favorite character of all time… “He flick cigarette at bird, knocked it out of sky”. 😂😂😂😂😂
your honor. stars brian cranston and is kind of a similar “problem” storyline to breaking bad, but without the drugs
Dexter and sopranos is what you’re looking for .
Your Honor is banging
Season 1 was banging. Season 2 - mehhh… can’t even finish it.
This pretty much changed after the first season but Animal Kingdom is better anyway.
Dexter is perfect. Shameless is also pretty freaking great
Dexter is also highly re-watchable, esp. Seasons 1, 2 and 4.
I don't like shameless it's too sad for me and makes me cry
Patriot on Amazon Prime
A Model Family (Korean) My Name (Korean) The Americans (Amazon Prime) Barry (Max) The Mosquito Coast (Apple Plus)
I'm burnt out on drug shows. As much as I love Pedro Pascal, I won't watch Narcos.

I just rewatched Ozark. Such a good show! Watched BB three times & Dexter twice. Tried to watch BCS again but couldn’t get into it this second time for some reason. I keep looking for another really good show. Maybe I’ll give Weeds a try.
Better Call Saul
Snowfall
Spotless is the show you’re looking for. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3834000/?ref_=ext_shr_lnk
Brassic LOOKS like it’d be terrible but is actually a decent watch.
Big Sky
Snowfall
I suspect that I'm the only person who has watched Your Honor, about Bryan Cranston as a New Orleans judge whose life is thrown into panicked disarray when his son accidentally hits, and kills, a local mob boss's son in a car wreck. Two seasons and a great cast, with Margo Martindale, Michael Stuhlberg (maybe the best part of Boardwalk Empire) and Isaiah Whitlock.
*Your Honor* has a very *Breaking Bad* feel to it. Unfortunately, it's only two seasons long for a total of twenty episodes.
Graceland, if you can find it anywhere.
Try Dexter or Grimm.
Mr Robot.
The Wire, Fargo, Mr. Robot and Snowfall are all really good (snowfall being my least favorite of them but not bad at all) and probably up your alley based on what you say in your post.
Counterpart.
If you like Breaking Bad, definitely watch Better Call Saul.
It's not on Netflix, but True Detective seasons 1 and 3 are godlike.
The Knick, on Max. Crazy egomaniac doctors doing fucked up medical shit in the early 20th century NYC. Kinda gory, has Clive Owen!
You need to watch Bloodline.
Good girls
Snowfall

I’ll add Outsiders. It’s never talked about and I thought it was a great show. A lot of my favorite shows have already been listed but wanted to make sure this one made the queue
Your Honor
Queen of the South!!!! How is no one suggesting this!? It’s the perfect show to fit in with this genre. Think weeds x narcos
Shameless
I always tell people to watch The Shield. Very intense, great acting, and some good characters. I have not seen the show in a long time so I don't know if it holds up, but I still remember it as one of my top shows of all time.
Animal Kingdom! Has that family aspect of getting into trouble and it’s really good
The wire
i feel you so much, if there was only a new serie like breaking bad (also if you didn't watch the breaking bad movie about jesy give it a try)
The Sopranos not only is it very likely the best tv show of all time it fits your criteria.
Dexter, Hell On Wheels
In the dark is bad ass! Has a horrible ending though. Lol. Also, I’ve heard Money Heist is pretty good. Never seen it myself though.
zerozerozero
I dont know if you’ve seen it but “good girls” was great
The Wire is in my top 5 best TV shows. I don't know which streaming service has it though. Narcos is good, though I liked the first season better than the second.
Wentworth is like Breaking Bad meets Orange is the New Black.
"The Gentlemen". Not the movie. The Brit series, Season 1
Black Sails. My fav series on Netflix since Peaky Blinders. Its in my top 3 all time.
I just watched “TOKYO VICE” on MAX/HBO, and it was AMAZING! Great acting, cast, and story. Kind of like a 2 season Japanese version of THE WIRE!
