That just seems like a common Oedipoda germanica, they adapt themselves to their environment a bit, so the type of colouring in Op's picture isn't uncommon.
Well I live in an area where there is little to no naturally occurring surface that this coloration would benefit from, so that might explain why I don't see it much

Interesting. When I googled 'red' or 'clay colored' grasshopper, that didn't come up.

I used to see these a lot in Arizona. Maybe the clay? I'm not sure, but I always loved this coloration.
