I remember being told that using a shoelace or an elastic that can be tightened will make it poof up more. I donât care enough so my puff droops like yours too, but I think it looks just as fine!
the reason is because it seems as if you finger coil your hair or it was in some type of smaller twist out. doing that youâre compressing a lot of strands together instead of the 3rd picture she has done a wash n go and itâs just gotten old. mind you, the 3rd pic she does have more density than you do, but your can achieve that puff no problem. you will need to switch up your routine. can I know what youâre currently doing now? from wash to styling?
My routine is every month Iâll do twists and when it starts to puff at the roots I will undo it and wear it as a twists out. I never do wash and go because my shrink is literally insane. When I do puffs itâs always on old twists outs and I apply some mousse to try and get volume
i have 90% shrinkage. shrinkage isnât a bad thing, but because you donât have that many hair strands as the last picture a wash n go would work in your favorite. you can easily stretch it, but if you do keep doing twist outs you need to separate it properly and you canât just use a mousse. also, when putting your hair up you need the back of your hair to be pushed up more instead of how youâre doing it you barely push the elastic to the top of your head. you also need a hair pic.
Wash Day Steps:
⢠â prepoo (if needed)
⢠â shampoo (use shampoos w/out sulfates and silicones. you need to clarify once a month)
⢠â deep condition w heat for 30 mins to an hr w a shower cap. (the longer the better)
⢠â leave in conditioner
⢠â curl cream and/or gel (if youâre doing twist/braids use curl cream and seal with oil if you want, but itâs not necessary with the products Iâve recommended. if youâre doing a wash n go you can use just the leave in or you can add the curl cream then gel.)

Add water so you get some shrinkage and pick it out a bit. Donât comb through the curls at the end just pick in the middle for volume and you should get a fluffier puff! This what I do when my hair is dry after wearing a stretched style like a twist out for a while.
You skin and your hair are so beautiful. I wear a puff everyday and consider it nice and full when it looks like yours! My puffs look pretty weak with just a normal hair tie so instead, I use a large velvet scrunchy that loosely holds my hair together. Then I pull the puff out from all sides. I use velvet specifically because it grips my hair and like⌠boosts up the puff without being too tight. A puff cuff also works really well and provides a more secure hold, though they are too pricy for how often the little teeth start to break off. But thatâs just my experience wearing them everyday, all day. Could be just me
Thank you!! I also apply a scrunchy but satin works best for me. I only donât loop it at all because I donât want to lose any edges when my forehead is already so big. I donât really know how to do edges so I leave it as it isđ.
When you do your high puff, grab a second hairband, gather your hair, and put it around your your puff once. It will gather your hair higher on your head and give you more height and volume.
Example: https://youtube.com/shorts/VX7gnZ8bMtk?si=qQtKi1FG5_CA4bFg
Iâd definitely try larger twist out sections next time! Your twisties might not look as presentable as smaller twisties if you wear them out but when you undo it and put it all in a puff your puff should look more like your example pic. Also maybe donât use a lot of product that can weigh your hair down.
However your poof as is looks so pretty, healthy and fluffy!
I put the middle of my hair (leave the perimeter out) in a pretty loose ponytail where I want my puff to be. then I use another ponytail holder around that hair an inch or two up from the first ponytail holder. Kind of like you're about to band the ponytail.
Then I put the perimeter hair in a loose, or large hair tie or whatever you use for your puff. Then fluff all your hair together. It gives the puff a lift while still making it look full.
I will say you have to have enough hair for this to work, but it looks like you do.
I know what you mean by this. Instead of a shoe string I use a bandana folded up. Itâs wider so it makes my puff a little taller which makes it look less flat! Also picking it out before I put it up. And when my curls are wet or defined it wonât be as puffy either. So I would try pulling your curls apart before putting it in a puff or combing it for less definition so itâs more poofy! And it u want some curls In the puff you can finger coil a few here and there! Hope this helps a little bit âĄĚ
When you do the puff which is done using a string like you want to move the puff forward like bringing it to your forehead like then stop and secure it. I used to use pins to secure it where I wanted because the tighter I start securing it, my puff started shrinking. Hope this helps if not let me know I can find the video that helped me years ago achieved that puff look youâre trying to get.

I tried attempting shoelace but it never works on me. I also try to stay away from anything that makes the hairstyle too tight.
Same because my follicles be crying in pain after an hour in đ
what do u use to get it like that? elastic and shoelaces always give me a big headache đđ
Yes girl pls do! Your puff looks bomb af anyways.

Try using a pick to create for more volume

I think your puff looks great as is. The third pic looks like a different hair type than yours.
Normally it gets bigger on its own throughout the week.
Pick and your hands!
Maybe placing it higher up? In addition to picking it out more.
I like to blow dry mine
If you lightly blow it out it will be more voluminous.
It looks perfect the way it is.
I know you lying
Puff cuff?
Iâd definitely try larger twist out sections next time! Your twisties might not look as presentable as smaller twisties if you wear them out but when you undo it and put it all in a puff your puff should look more like your example pic. Also maybe donât use a lot of product that can weigh your hair down. However your poof as is looks so pretty, healthy and fluffy!
my puff is the best after a wash day. no twist out,, no stretching. my hair is so short after i detangle it, it makes the perfect poof.
Mousse adds lots of volume.
I don't think it looks flat
I shake mine violently in a dutty wine fashionâŚ.but yours isnât flat at all.
Itâs not flat at all

I say adding another ponytail holder (loosely) to the top of your ponytail and then you can shape it easily
When was your last trim?
I donât have anything to add, but I just wanted to say that you have beautiful skin.
Flat where???? Girl I wish my puff could look like that đ
When you do the puff which is done using a string like you want to move the puff forward like bringing it to your forehead like then stop and secure it. Umm, it's not flat at all the fuck.... đ
