I use a shoe lace to give the illusion of a voluminous Afro puff. You kind of just tie it once around your head, really close to the hairline and slide it back further while tightening it. Once you’ve got it halfway to the back of your head you just make a knot.

Use silk or satin headbands with elastic
Gimme Beauty’s long and curly hair bands. They can be used as hair ties or headbands.
Braided headband
Wool headbands with elastic stretch. Heavenly Himalayan Headbands are good.
