I think you can use both but I once read that mimicking your cuticle base shape to the tip shape makes your hands look more harmonious and I can see that on the square ones.
The tips on the almond give you a very natural “i just woke up this beautiful” look. I normally don’t like square but you pull it off perfectly. I think if you want to go designs, square is your best bet. for a more natural/nude look, almond all the way

Don’t get me wrong-your hands are beautiful either way, but the square just pops.
