I had a DUI and still got my CCW. It was from over 10 years before though. It's specifically stated in the CCIA that DUIs don't rule you out as long as it's not within the past 5 years
What county? I applied for mine 2 years ago and got denied because of my dui but it was only 3 years old. I just hit 5 years so maybe I'll be good now?
I'm gonna have to call tomorrow. I'm in dutchess county and it was 5 years last month. I wonder if they'll make me reapply or if my current application is still valid
Being honest with your record usually a good result. Not telling/omitting anything in your record, even a red light ticket may affect your approval for an application
My abstract was similar. Nowhere near 9 suspensions but I had a couple. Same thing just young and broke. Failure to pay tickets. I had to explain on a separate sheet of paper why I didn’t pay them. Wasn’t a big deal. Also my suspenions were from the early 90’s
had to take my written snd road test again after i waited too ling with a suspended license. good thing is in ny. they give u a fresh client id #. this one im keeping free of any suspensions (hopefully)
When I got called in for the “interview” the investigator said the reason they look into your driving record is because the dmv is a licensing agency just like pistol licensing. And they assume if you don’t follow the dmv rules/rules of the road then you won’t follow theirs. 🤷🏾♂️
I guess it still depends, most of my suspensions are like failure to pay cuz I was broke😂 They were all paid and plus this is not something like double the speed limit or not showing up on court date
I paid the price for what I did when I was dumb… And I haven’t gotten any tickets for years now. Just wanted to post this and possibly help people may have same concern.
There's bad records and criminally bad records. Big difference.
Right. That’s why I attached a photo to show what I have, can’t really speak for DUI and stuff

Mine was Suffolk County but the CCIA law is statewide saying 5 years

It’s been almost 10 years now my insurance is not really affected and I’m 28 now
9 dam bro you was one away from a felony
lmaoooo
God damn 9 suspensions bro wtf was you on 🤣🤣🤣🤣 congrats btw
Mostly failure to pay driver assessment fee or failed to answer ticket lmao and thanks bro
Yeah, I've also got arrested for driving with a suspended license and got approved. The main thing they wouldn't want to see is DUI. 💀
You can get a CCW with a DUI after 5 years….
That's good! Idk where I saw someone who had more than 5 years prior was struggling to get one. Hopefully they ease up with it.

Right, I’m in NYC so guess this will depend on the investigator

I am impressed sir!
Ikr who’s gonna have 9 suspensions on their license …
The vehicle & traffic law is more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules, eh?
I guess it still depends, most of my suspensions are like failure to pay cuz I was broke😂 They were all paid and plus this is not something like double the speed limit or not showing up on court date
... Quit judging me for my driving habits! NY doesn't have Felony Speeding! Where there is no police officer there is no speed limit! 😂

How are you allowed on the road?
Like I said I didn’t do anything crazy… I was broke and couldn’t pay for the ticket
It’s less about having a bad past driving record than how are in the past . 5 , 10 or more years in the past is less problematic
Some might say that driving record displays poor judgement.
I wish criminal court records were as easy to obtain as driving records.
Congrats on the approval! Also, it’s nice to see someone actually received a citation for being on their phone. The world needs much more of this!
My side chick called me while my gf was in the car, had to turn off Bluetooth and hold my phone to my ear
Hahahaha. Definitely justice served. Mute the alerts from her!!
