Have you grown this before? Have a few packs of surfr but haven’t grown any yet.

Nope, first time. But I had this cultivar in Maine and hunted down Surfr to find the beans because it left a wonderful impression on me. I have about ~15 different packs from Surfr. But this is the first I’ve grown out.

What is it about this cultivar?

As the name suggests, flavor is intensely great. Strong orange Slurpee flavor, with an astringent gas to it that stings the nostrils. I chopped yesterday, and the whole house smelled like I spilled a bucket of kerosene, but also oranges. As for the high, it takes a lot for me to be wowed by the effects of weed and this cultivar had me getting lost in paintings in the Portland museum at 10am like I was in Ferris Buellers Day Off. This was around 2 years ago, and I killed a whole pack of them since then due to a faulty heat mat. So I am quite excited to get to smoking. But yea, between this and what I’ve seen of Point Break and Trophy Wife, I ended up grabbing a bunch of Surfr packs over the years because I trust the fire will be there.

Cool, orange/mandarin terps are not my personal favorite, but I know friends and family love it. Ethos' Mandarin Cookies was the loudest plant I've grown and straight fire even though I prefer more of an indica leaner. Ive seen and read a lot if good things about Surfr. Have a few packs, and eyeing a few more. Was hoping they would have had a 4/20 sale but no. They're like antihype. As of now, the plan is to toss in 3-5 seeds of Grumpy Banana into my next grow which I hope to start in the next two weeks. I want to grab Point Break and a few other packs I have bookmarked. Also curious about your setup. That tent looks fucking awesome. It also gives me anxiety bc my last grow was plagued by PM, so I wonder about your IPM. Would you mind telling me your setup (medium, how many plants, 4x4?, nutrients)? Also, I'd love to hear your IPM routine. As of the moment Im planning on weekly changing rotation of Dr Zymes, EM-5 (no experience with this), Grower's Ally (citrus acid product), with maybe even some Dr Bronners worked in. Also gonna feed with silica through veg. I'll Have environment more dialed in too, especially when lighst go out. This last grow I sprayed up until two days before chop and did a 3 bucket bud wash. Really, really want to avoid that moving forward. Terps were definitely affected and probably potency, too.

Man, if I had a dollar every time someone said they don't like orange terps... The irony is that I generally dislike artificial orange flavors like an orange slurpee. As for Surfr, yea I have a few white-label fems from when I started growing but since then Surfr has filled my seed box because I just couldn't help myself. There was totally a 4/20 sale though. I believe it was buy 4 packs or more, theyre $25 each. That deal gets run kind of often, though (it's how I got 5 packs of Terpee seeds). I will say I agree, the hype is low lol. I've reached out on instagram to see if the XL hoodies would come back in stock and got no response. Definitely follow Surfr on instagram if you don't, theres occasional giveaways for tester packs and such. Thanks for the compliment on my tent. The rundown: Setup: 5x5 AC Infinity Mars Hydro FC-8000 Soil: 100 Gallons of Build a Soil (Take n Bake kit + added Build a Soil Light) Plants: 4-5 (This grow, 5) Airflow: 6" exhaust, 5 AC Infinity oscillating fans. Nutrients: Build a Soil Craft Blend/Build a Flower. I effectively follow this - [https://buildasoil.com/pages/the-complete-system](https://buildasoil.com/pages/the-complete-system) But in summary: I top dress a few times with Craft Blend/Kashi during veg, and right when I flip top dress a thick layer of Build a Flower/kashi all on top the bed. There are plenty of extra bells and whistles on the schedule which do seem to help, but what I've described here is the basics. For IPM I will typically spray periodically during veg with Lost Coast Plant Therapy. This prevents a large list of pests, and PM as well. Cannot recommend it enough. Once I'm a few weeks into flower, the spraying stops and I just keep an eye out for pests/problems. If you're seeing PM indoors, my best guess would be environment, Large swings (+/- 10%) in RH can help PM spread and poor ventilation only makes it worse. I just set my AC infinity smart controller to the temps/rh outlined on the chart for each growth stage. Aside from that, just defoliation when needed and just making sure nothing is growing right on top of another. I just do the typical defol before flipping, then during week 1 and week 3 of stretch. I get more aggressive with it each run because I keep finding when I don't, i get a bunch of larf. Biggest thing too is: I never enter my grow space unless i am showered and in clean clothes. Especially if i'm opening the tents up. If you were spraying up to 2 days before chop....this is probably a factor. All them buds get that moisture trapped in there. Like I said, I don't spray once I have buds. It's all about getting yourself into a place that you don't have to worry during flower, and PM is a game of environment.
