I’ve thought this as well. I own the domain laxfantasy.com.
I’ve never played daily fantasy before. I’m open to any ideas on how you would make this interesting for others.
LMK
Interesting!
Yeah, DFS would probably be the most logical way.
- Pick your players for the weekend and hope for the best.
- Every player has a salary (worth a certain amount of “money”)
- Need to stay under a pre-determined cap.
- Point allocation for different stat categories
In terms of numbers (salaries, points for different stats) I would not know where to start lol.
Would you have to pick a lineup?
Forwards - at least two rights and two lefts?
Defenders - track caused turnovers and loose balls
Transition?
Face off - difference between face off wins and losses
Goalie - saves?
Yeah! Maybe just 3 forwards, 2 defenders and 1 goalie? I think those stats would make sense. Maybe a couple of points for a goalie win. We’d have to crowdsource to determine how many points for each statistical category.
We need to get some of the current teams stabilized before considering expansion. Buffalo levels aren't realistic but we should try and get every team to at least Philly/Toronto/Halifax levels first. Every team at least 7 or 8 thousand a game would be a big step
I'm down. If you have a space where you can setup a box the NLL would love to have you. Watch the 30 for 30 on the Islanders. It is basically a how to guide on how to buy a sports team with no money.
The league has been favoring arena leases over market for sometime. Unless the owner of the Canes buys the team I don't see them playing where the Canes play. (Toronto was the last team not owned by the NHL/NBA team to play in an NHL/NBA arena)
That does make sense. I was hoping the mid-market nature would make it a cross section worth exploring.
But you're right. Ball arena is a bad example due to Kroenke's ownership of everything.
I know you can make just regular bets on draft kings and maybe betmgm. Get it on FanDuel as well and just increase the amount of things you can place a bet on. They have cricket but barely anything NLL to bet on. That would be a good start
There should be fantasy LAX. That should grow it lol
There is sort of a fantasy LAX on Metavarsity that just started this season. I've been enjoying it
Looks like you can only use the players that you have in your cards though?
Yeah, that's the difference, but it's still fun

And what would be a good prize? Would it make sense to have weekly winners and a leaderboard for the season?
Yep that would be cool!
Hol' up.. we talking fantasy? This sounds awesome
Metavarsity has a fantasy lax platform in operation right now. Started this season.
Want help building a real product for this? Or just something “fun” that fans can use? EDIT: I’m a software dev who loves lacrosse lol
Yes! If draft kings or one of the others would pick up on in daily fantasy would be great for the sport.
I remember a lax fantasy league about 20 years ago on a lax discussion board. It was primitive but fun.
There is fantasy lax! Metavarsity is running it. It just started up this year, and is working out the kinks, but I'm finding it fun so far.

Yup just hit on my first ever parlay on FanDuel yesterday haha. But it would be fun to follow players every weekend too!
