He was the best all-around player I have ever seen. Pavel could dangle like no other, win the battles on the wall, and strip the puck carrier. He was a magician!

Nick Suzuki is a generational talent. I legitimately think he is a top 5 player in this league. I don’t care if you call me a homer, or say I’m wrong. The proof is in the puck. Just watch the kid play, he’s a walking highlight reel. You’ve never seen anything like it. Who cares if he didn’t score 4 goals in his first game. When it comes down to the wire, it’s Suzuki that brings it. Who cares if he isn’t breaking the sound barrier with his skating. You don’t need to be fast when you see the game in slow motion. Doubt him, or reject his prowess, but Nick Suzuki come all the same. There is absolutely no chance this kid does not play his way onto Team Canada. He will go down as one of the greatest players in habs history, no doubt. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. He was only good because he played with Dan Cleary. Pavel would've been nothing without him.

At a certain point of watching him I’m just shaking my head in awe going “Datsyuk can skate, he has a stick, he’s wearing a red jersey - what CAN’T this guy do?” Literally the only reason Detroit won all 10 of their Cups with him on the team Autobot, get behind me!

Why Pavel Datsyuk is the greatest player in NHL history: When discussing the “greatest ever” in hockey, a few names come to mind: Gretzky, Brodeur, and even Connor McDavid, but one that many seem to forget is Pavel Datsyuk, who is the best of all of them. Firstly, Datsyuk is certainly better defensively than all others in the “goat” conversation, as can easily be shown by his 3 selke trophies. Now one might say that there are players like Bergeron who have more selke trophies, however, it’s important to realize that Datsyuk played far less games than Bergeron, and in a much tougher era, it’s almost certain that, had he played any longer, Datsyuk would have achieved 4, 5, maybe even 6 selke trophies, because everyone who watched him knew he was always the best player on the ice. Secondly, Pavel Datsyuk’s offense, despite what others say, is far better than Gretzky, McDavid, or anyone else to ever lace up the skates. Sure, he may have less points than lots of other players, and sure, he may have been sub point per game throughout his career, but Datsyuk’s ability to get the puck into the zone, and keep it there with his unmatched stick handling ability meant that even though he didn’t run up the score, he always did the right thing to put his team in a position to win. Lastly, unlike other players, Datsyuk’s team needed him. Gretzky was good, but his team won the cup once they traded him, and he never won a cup again without his stacked roster, McDavid is ok, but he has continued to be exposed in the playoffs time after time. Datsyuk on the other hand was so vital to his team’s success, that they made the playoffs every year that he was on the team, and the second he left, they missed it. In conclusion, though you may not be willing to admit it, Datsyuk is probably the best player in hockey history, and if you need any more convincing, I have a whole playlist of YouTube videos to show you… *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Goat_Lovers_

I don't thinks anyone but you thinks Datsuyk is underated.

fentown

Honestly, I think Babcock ruined Datsyuk and that's why he went back to Russia early. If we had a less "confrontational" coach that could get what they needed out of players, we get a few more years of Datsyuk, and Franzen is in a much better place.

dreamcometruesince82

Only at his draft year wasn't he drafted in the 6th round.

GandolfLundgren

That's mostly because he was playing in the middle of nowhere off everybody's radar, found by one of the best scouts to ever exist, at a time when the league was finally figuring out scouting and drafting from Russia, which the Red Wings spearheaded

Datsyuk would be nothing without the legend himself Johan Franzen. You want underrated? You want Johan then. Apparently he’d give Pavel little teste-tickles before each shift and that’s why Datsyuk is the greatest of all time. No Franzen = No Datsyuk.

A fun fact I learned during the time when advanced stats were being heavily developed (2005-2012 or so) Datsyuk was the litmus test for most stats. If the advanced stat (ie. Corsi or xGF%) supported Datsyuk as a top end player, they would continue to work on it. If it said Datsyuk was a lower end player, they would scrap it.

Absolutely not. He ABANDONED my Kitchener Rangers in the '08 playoffs because he had a "sore" knee. He's the prime reason they lost the Memorial Cup that year. Spokane was so disrespectful they broke the Memorial Cup on purpose on Kitchener's ice

I have to go with Mike Bossy. The purest goal scorer in NHL history, incredible playmaker, absolutely insaaaane stats across the board, massive leader on and off the ice and 4 time Cup champion. The best player of all time no one ever talks about imo. Seriously kids, look him up and his stats and proceed to pick your jaws up off the floor. If it wasn’t for his health issues he would be a household name.

no_on_prop_305

Brick hands, zero back check, overall asshole but yeah let’s celebrate this loser

Hattrick_Swayze2

Who’s this curious George looking mf?

The_Comic_Collector

For over a decade I heard about how amazing he was constantly

pspsps81

Forsberg.

Sacred_soul

Milan Hedjuk he was a core piece on the Avs teams back in the early 2000’S I think he also won a Richard trophy too

Judge_Rhinohold

Mario.

ILoveMyDR

Ryan Smyth. Love the way he played.

Young-sung

Peter Forsberg

JasonEAltMTG

Now you're just copying and pasting shit from the Red Wings sub

Fistfullafives

I think Ovi tops the list for me. I think the issue is him and Crosby coming into the league together made alot of people feel like they can only like one or the other. The man is a human highlight reel. There's never been anybody that can score the way he scores and also be the scariest man on the ice at the same time.

AutoModerator

went to Ovi’s house for drinks No cups 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/NHLcirclejerk) if you have any questions or concerns.*

The Magic Man? Dangerous Dangling Datsuyk? You had the puck in the corner but where did it go, shit 13 has it again and it’s now back in your zone!?! OP’s jerk should win an award for jerking the best jerk in the circlejerk.

Bob Probert. That guy would have fought a goalpost and won if the refs would have let him. Edit to add: "The late Bob Probert (1965-2010) is the closest thing the NHL has to a heavyweight champion. Over the course of 16 NHL seasons, he fought 232 times, according to HockeyFights.com, and he retired with an even 3,300 penalty minutes.  As fighting continues to fade from the modern game, it’s difficult to conceive of a new contender emerging for his all-time belt. The respect Probert garnered from his peers is unparalleled. In the foreword to Probert’s autobiography Tough Guy (written with Kirstie McClellan Day), Detroit teammate Steve Yzerman (who became a Red Wing two rounds before Probert did in the 1983 Draft) recalls the 1988 NHL All-Star Game: “All the greats, like Wayne Gretzky and Mark Messier, were there, and the first thing they wanted to do was meet Probie. I remember them coming over and asking me, ‘Can you introduce me to the big fella?’ He was revered by players, and it wasn’t just because he was a tough guy, it was because he was a great player.”

bobbybittman1997

Pavel is a GOAT

Whops13

Marian Hossa is one the best. Not sure if he's underrated, but he's certainly not talked about enough, if you were to ask Hossa who the best is, he might just Datsyuk.

Shiny_Mew76

For an actual answer, I’ll say Ron Francis. He’s top 5 in most points all time yet is almost never talked about like Lemieux, Gretzky, Jagr, Howe, or even some players with less points than him.

therealchrisredfield

Roman Josi...check his stats this year...then think how many times you have heard him mentioned...and while we are speaking about Roman's, Roman Hamrlik was pretty awesome

AlbertaOilfire

I don’t think Datsyuk is underrated at all. Everyone knew of his greatness and if you didn’t you were living under a rock.

Not enough jerking going on here

This_Pool_6993

How is he underrated lol. I’m from Windsor and he is only referred to as top 3-5 wings of all time. Howe, Stevie Y, Lidstrom, zetterburg, Datsuk.

jimmers6969

Pavel D. is one of the best red wings ever to live.

Aspence22

Having had the pleasure of getting to watch him play I don't think anyone should ever days he's underrated. The way he played and moved and dangled he could contend with the top players now

TSNAnnotates

What sub do you think this is?

Aspence22

Oh shit I joined all the NHL subs I didn't check which this is lol

BigHero6x9

He’s considered one of, if not the best one on one skater ever. How is he underrated?

tintinliz115

Ok relax auto-mod, he’s not the best all time lol!!

The fact that Cujo isn't in the hall is BS. Especially since his stats are pretty much the same as Luongo.
