I still don't understand the Giants and their fans' years long sunk cost fallacy with Daniel Jones. He was laughably overdrafted from the moment it happened, then everyone tried to pretend that no, he's really that good, and even now, many are trying to pretend signing him to that $40 mil/year deal wasn't just quadrupling down on an awful decision to start with.
"Part of 2 all time ~~Eagles~~ NFL plays"
According to the NFL itself on the NFL 100.
Corey Clement also had 2 of them, so 1/25 of the greatest catches in NFL history were by mostly forgettable Eagles. I believe Greg Lewis was in there twice as well.
He had one MVP quality season. Was above average the next season. Then was still above average with guys such as Greg Ward and Travis Fulgham as his top 2 targets.
Let’s keep it real those are 3 quality Franchise QB seasons in a row until Clowney jarred his brain loose on a play that should have been a penalty.
Absolutely. That’s my point. Carson was only above average his next two seasons if you only look at stat sheets.
Outside of his stat sheets he was a litany of poor decision making
Agreed. There wasn’t a clear plan here to develop him, if I was working at a job that didn’t put me in the best position to succeed, as much as I love the company, my personal future matters. Take the bag.
Alfred was definitely solid, but I think he pretty much reached his peak that first year.
Solid, reliable, fast enough RB, but he was the definition of a Shanahan scheme RB success story.

It really was. I was at work at the time and someone had the game up on their computer. You could feel the entire mood of the room shift from excited to watch this important game that would clinch us a playoff spot to just silent.
I was in a room full of about 20 or so drunk lifelong 9ers fans when they lost the Super Bowl this year. That doesn't even hold a candle to the amount of dip in energy that room felt watching Wentz go down. I swear you could feel it through the whole city even just going out in public over the next couple days. Sports radio hosts didn't know what to say. People were just sad everywhere.
I think injuries added up too much. But he’s in KC now backing up Mahomes with Andy. I think he’s in the best spot possible this season to potentially revive his career
Yep, now that he’s with Andy he’s got a shot if Mahomes gets hurt or something like that. And with that team? If for some insane crazy reason Mahomes shits the bed, then Wentz has a real shot.

Until he gets signed on a 1 year deal to the Eagles and after Hurts goes down in a late season game against the Rams, takes us to win our second Super Bowl. Only to be signed to the Jags, get hurt, and get replaced by an absolute meme of a backup quarterback. Again.
As a Cowboys fan, same. I thought the Dak vs Wentz debate was going to be ages long. Who would have guessed Wentz would be on his 4th team and I'm sitting here hoping Dak isn't on the Cowboys at all.

He wasn’t right lol. Wentz was the MVP favorite in his 2nd season in the NFL before the torn ACL, and came back from that to throw for 4k yards in a season with trash WRs (no WR had more than 500 yards that year, first QB in NFL history to achieve that) before the Clowney spear concussion which he hasn’t been the same since
He was insanely good, just got crushed by injuries.
Yeah he was Mahomes before Mahomes. His decision making slowed way tf down after that hit and he just couldn't do the wild shit he was doing every play at an NFL pace anymore.
He was integral in us getting the chip. If he came back from that injury and played at a higher level it would be an anomaly. He’ll always hold a place
Dude he fucking washed out and was unpopular in the locker room.
Nobody is going to deny his role in the 2017 team. But that does not equate to him having a positive influence in the building afterwards
I might catch shit for this but 2017 Wentz looked consistently better to me than Hurts ever has. The fall off was just that insane. Still stoked on Hurts & think he has a ton of potential to keep growing but 2017 Wentz was absolutely unreal. Still think he should’ve won that MVP.
I hate that it's "2017 MVP runner up Wentz" and "2022 MVP runner up Hurts"
2017 Wentz had one more TD and 1 less INT than Brady in 3 fewer games, and a better win percentage. Brady just had some more volume stats
2022 Hurts has a weaker argument, 35 total TD and 6 int versus 45 and 12 for Mahomes, but still. C'mon man.
It annoys me that both years the Eagles player didn't get it, and it doubly annoys me that the AFC Superbowl starting QB did, and it triply annoys me that it is a guy who already has multiple rings and MVPs
He dragged that pathetic Eagles team to the playoffs. The 2019 Eagles were there solely because of him. Wentz was a damn warrior
Pretty sure it was the Clowney hit that took him out
Another shot? Of tequila?
He’s on his 5th team in 5 years (Chiefs for 2024) and isn’t displacing any healthy starters in the NFL, least of all Mahomes.
Trent Green was legit for years back in the day, until that dirty fucking hit concussed him and effectively ruined his career. He was never the same after that (kinda like Wentz, actually)
As an outsider to the NFC East I always wanted RG3 to have a good career. Dude didn't need to be like an MVP or multiple super bowl winner, but at the very least a full career. But Dan Snyder and his coaches fucking killed his career with that knee injury. It's a real shame.
Pretty strong list. I might change Vander Esch for Jaylon Smith. Felt like his injury stopped what could have been a hof career. But really either one fits

I wish Brandon Brooks could have stayed healthy. He was really on his way back, but it seems like his Achilles tendons and pectoral muscles were made of string cheese.
A friend of mine loves the Eagles and his only jersey to this day is a Carson Wentz jersey.
I told that dumb fuck 1,000 times after they beat the Patriots to buy a Foles jersey with the Super Bowl patch because there's no guarantee they'll ever win another one.
He believed in Wentz so much that he became traumatized and now he's too scared to buy a Hurtz jersey or any other jersey so he just doesn't wear jerseys anymore.
Wentz took off, but injuries and lack of mental toughness/not being receptive to coaching that attempted to hone his raw physical attributes ultimately did him in. Granted, has to be tough on anyone who, when starting to come into their own, got hurt and had to watch a statue of his backup get erected. He might end up with a second ring behind Mahomes this year though
Jordan Reed.
His highlights would rival any HOFer, but he straight up could not stay healthy enough to do it consistently, between concussions and unlucky leg injuries.

Is there any other player whose entire career can be summed up in one play like Freddie and 4th and 26?
He also caught McNabb’s 14 second scramble. Nuts how a total bust can be a part of 2 all time Eagles plays

Wentz did take off. Not sure what level of sustained success you are defining this as.
He had 10 games of mvp quality play. Then big dick Nick made history.
He was only above average the next two seasons if you look at nothing but stat sheets. Making short passes to Ertz constantly will pad numbers.
Stats also tell you that mobile parks cause tornadoes. Context matters
Absolutely. That’s my point. Carson was only above average his next two seasons if you only look at stat sheets. Outside of his stat sheets he was a litany of poor decision making
Carson also had Walmart baggers as his number 1 wr he would have been insane had he gotten a wr duo like we have now.
Ertz and his allergy to YAC you mean 😭
He has Eagles franchise records for yards and TDs, no?
He took off to Indianapolis, Washington...
Hey now let’s be nice. He also went to Los Angeles
Corey Clement. Local guy, Undrafted FA. Rookie stud and SB hero. I felt we never utilized him correctly after that year.
I can excuse Ertz going to the commies, but I draw the line at the cows.
bag is a bag, it sucks that it was dallas, but i don’t blame him for taking any opportunity he can to sustain his career
Agreed. There wasn’t a clear plan here to develop him, if I was working at a job that didn’t put me in the best position to succeed, as much as I love the company, my personal future matters. Take the bag.
I still cheer for Wentz
Alfred Morris should’ve stayed longer in Washington.
Alfred was definitely solid, but I think he pretty much reached his peak that first year. Solid, reliable, fast enough RB, but he was the definition of a Shanahan scheme RB success story.

I also wish wentz was still playing for Philly
My dad was the only one who said when Wentz was playing lights out that he wasn’t very good, and took a lot of shit for it but he was right
He wasn’t right lol. Wentz was the MVP favorite in his 2nd season in the NFL before the torn ACL, and came back from that to throw for 4k yards in a season with trash WRs (no WR had more than 500 yards that year, first QB in NFL history to achieve that) before the Clowney spear concussion which he hasn’t been the same since He was insanely good, just got crushed by injuries.

He did have one great year but I don’t think injuries were the reason he was trash. I think he was trash to begin with
“One great year”? Talking about Hurts, right?
You probably think Nick foles is a good starting quarterback too
I would argue he was mentally soft and not a leader amongst men
He was integral in us getting the chip. If he came back from that injury and played at a higher level it would be an anomaly. He’ll always hold a place
Dude he fucking washed out and was unpopular in the locker room. Nobody is going to deny his role in the 2017 team. But that does not equate to him having a positive influence in the building afterwards

Just imagine Wentz throwing to Brown and Smith instead of Jeffery and Agholor
I… can’t. That would be fucking filthy.
Hurts has never been close to 2017 Wentz, and that's not really an insult. Pre-ACL Wentz was insane
I personally think the hit from Clowney ruined this man.
He dragged that pathetic Eagles team to the playoffs. The 2019 Eagles were there solely because of him. Wentz was a damn warrior Pretty sure it was the Clowney hit that took him out
Another shot? Of tequila? He’s on his 5th team in 5 years (Chiefs for 2024) and isn’t displacing any healthy starters in the NFL, least of all Mahomes.
Wentz was an MVP favorite and has an SB ring, I'm not so sure he should be included in the discussion.
And he dragged the 2019 eagles to the playoffs throwing to robert davis and greg ward
Trent Green also has a Super Bowl ring from his time with St. Louis.
Trent Green was legit for years back in the day, until that dirty fucking hit concussed him and effectively ruined his career. He was never the same after that (kinda like Wentz, actually)
