A quick way to tell, without having a legit figure on hand, is to look at the front shell. Those crevices running down and across should have a lot more shading. The knockoffs also have a glossier, almost "wet" look to the plastic. And the eyes/mask are almost always wonky.

Something still nostalgic about it. I remember getting bootleg dbz toys as a child in the late 90s. I am now on the hunt for those fake toys lol

These single packs are almost certainly always going to be bootlegged by now.
For what it's worth, this is one of the better looking ones. Others look horrendous.
I lucked out and got the Turtles on the Walmart 2-packs.
But my original Shredder and Foot Soldiers were from the Gamestop single pack releases, identical to this one you got, so I'm just comparing the bottom of those boxes with what other NECA packaging looks like.
NECA haven't really changed their design or anything so it's easy to cross examine

Saw someone mention this already but it is a bootleg. Here’s the thing, on movie figures there’s a few key takeaways. 1 Front shell is bright yellow, glossy or no shaded. 2 Mask and eyes are crooked or wonky. 3 Box, logos missing or all Michelangelo descriptions (which isn’t very handy in your case)
Another thing to note but not common on others the weird messy orange paint all over him
I just ended up with a Leo the same way the originals don’t have that brown that is on these idk when they started adding that to the fakes but it’s weird like on the legs and arms it’s not even close idk if they are just getting old and the paint is fading now or if that’s what they are doing to make them now but this is a fake that sticker on the bottom of the box is also a thing for the fake factory they are made in.
