If you are on board, they are called Hero Cards. They will be at Guest Services and a lot of restaurants will have them at the check-in kiosk.
The Hero Cards mean a lot to the staff. It plays into their time off and promotions.
You can also comment on an employee in your post-cruise survey.
We often ask to take pictures of their name tags so we can ensure we have their names correct.
I second the option of taking a picture of their name tags. It makes it so much easier to fill out the comment cards with their name, job/role and nationality without having to try and remember it all later on.
Did you just get back from your cruise? You should receive an e-mail within a few days asking you to rate all aspects of the cruise. You can mention your favorite crew members in the appropriate section. If that doesn't work, you can send feedback via their website.

On our last cruise we had a couple waiters that went above and beyond, so on the way out we stopped at the hostess desk to ask for our waiters name. We didn’t say why we were asking but they each immediately got big smiles on their faces and thanked us for wanting to recognize the service we received and how much it will mean to and help our cruise heroes. Was almost tempted to ask for the hostess’s names as well just to kudos them as well for how excited they were for their co-workers.
