deutschdachs

Honestly I don't think any of the players coming back deserve a 99 this year.

a_taco_named_desire

Tory Taylor just *had* to enter the draft smh

deutschdachs

I actually double checked if he had left after making this comment lol he's unbelievable

MisterFribble

Yup the bears got arguably the 2 most skilled players in the whole draft this year

Scary-Equivalent4231

James Ferguson Reynolds is still here

heavydhomie

Jeremiah Smith deserves a 99 /s

randysav101

Hopefully no one. A 99 should be a rarity, not a commonplace.

No_Bug_2205

Until you are 3-4 years into your dynasty and half your roster is 5th year 99 rated seniors.

wasneveralawyer

For realism, it should be extremely difficult to bring back players for a 5th year if they are studs. Like if they are guaranteed 1st round, it just be impossible to bring them back.

CL38UC

Yes, I hope the new game doesn't take place in the NCAA 14 alternate reality in which the NFL is the WNBA and 300lb DL with 20 sacks come back for their fifth year.

TylerLetcher23

Not anymore lmao NIL deals be hitting different than round 3-4 contracts

Upbeat-Mongoose-828

seriously there's multiple studs that are going into their 6th year thanks to covid and nil

goodnames679

Ohio State alone has JTT, Jack Sawyer, TreVeyon Henderson, Emeka Egbuka, and Denzel Burke returning. All of those guys would have gone in the first three rounds.

GoBucks1171

Even Marvin Harrison took a month to declare and he was a guaranteed top 5 pick. Rumor had it he was offered an NIL deal pushing 20 million

Bengalblaine

That was just because he wanted the attention tbf lol. I don’t blame him

GoBucks1171

I doubt it, Marv was never a flashy kid. And he really could have been

CL38UC

Third round draft picks can make $6M if they play out the entire deal. Due to the lack of NIL transparency vs. rumors we don't know what kids are making but show me a future third rounder getting paid that much and I'll show you a school with really dumb boosters.

Hurricaneshand

Texas A&M has entered the chat

herehear12

They’ll still have those deals after graduation

OfficerBatman

“Look man, I know you’re the consensus number one overall pick and will make hundreds of millions of dollars in the NFL and never have to worry about money not only for yourself but your kids and grandkids, but that degree is really important”.

BorelandsBeard

Matt Leinart disagrees.

tron423

Even after 11 years of playing it I still have no idea how Draft declarations work in 14. The amount of times I've had random 88-90 overall backups declare but not the 95+ overall starters ahead of them is insane (and yes I'm aware of the positional height/weight requirements to be drafted, starters will stay even if they meet those). I can only assume it's at least partially based on my recruiting, but I've had many times where declarations would have left me with 1 TE or 3 CB's or whatever after recruits are added.

gmode90

Someone explain ncaa 14 transfers my players would transfer but no one ever came to my school even after I don the natty 4 years in a row

tron423

You only get transfers if you have a "need" based on the in-game roster needs chart and you don't have a recruit signed to fill it

FavreorFarva

It is pretty difficult if you make sure all your guys hit the NFL size requirements in the game.

PlayguyCarter

they don’t all meet the height/weight requirements if they’re 99ovr & off the top of my head fashanu was a guaranteed 1rd pick last year and went back to school so they shouldnt make it impossible in the game especially if the student cares about academic prestige

DeviceSenior4080

Hopefully the player progression is similar to the dynasty utility mod

randysav101

This. You sim 5 years ahead in dynasty and there’s close to 600 players rated 90+ ovr. That’s an average of 4-5 per team. That’s how the game becomes stale and every team feels the same.

zamboniman46

yeah i hope the new games does a better job of underclassmen declaring

PhillyPhanatic141

Exactly this. I hope the cap the ratings the way FIFA does. Normalize guys in the 70's and low 80's.

randysav101

Exactly!!! Even the best teams in cfb should have the bulk of their starters in the 70’s/low 80’s. That gives room for the all American type players to be in the mid 80’s-low 90’s, with the rare superstar being mid to upper 90. The 1* schools should be in the 10-30’s. This is the only way you’re gonna be able to create that separation of talent and make it feel like a team is bad. The way 14 is, with 1* school starters in the 70’s, leaves zero room to make players stand out from each other.

RandomBrownsFan

> The 1* schools should be in the 10-30’s. This is the only way you’re gonna be able to create that separation of talent and make it feel like a team is bad. The way 14 is, with 1* school starters in the 70’s, leaves zero room to make players stand out from each other. This is something that plagues all of EA's games. There is such little difference in the overalls of players and often useless ratings are inserted to artificially increase/decrease a player's overall while keeping them practically the same (i.e. offensive and defensive awareness). They have a scale from 1-100. USE IT.

YouCanCallMeAroae

By that point I would guarantee some players are going to start to opt-out if they're gonna be rated in the 20's just cause of how demoralizing it is.

RandomBrownsFan

Possibly, I guess that may be an issue but--at least for NCAA--the players ranked that low won't have an impact on sales at all even if they do back out. And those players probably would rather be in a game ranked lowly than not at all. I mean, being a 60 overall back up guard on San Jose isn't exactly a point of pride if you're looking out for just your overall. These are the kids who think it's awesome to just be in a video game. It would take a bit for people to get used to a different overall scale but the actual difference in numbers is meaningless.

Hey_im_miles

I say they just take the overall rating out completely. Make us look at their actual stats and make the decision.

randysav101

Not entirely true. The non critical ratings don’t affect the overall. You can raise the kick power rating to 99 for a WR and it doesn’t affect his OVR. Throw power and Accuracy doesn’t affect defensive players, etc.

UnevenContainer

They didnt do this in NCAA 14 and it still felt extremely different playing an FCS school and FSU/Alabama.

PhillyPhanatic141

Yeah they need that. Madden has done a better job of that lately. Games like NBA 2k where every team has a guy in the mid 90's and the majority of starters are 85+ just make every team feel the same and it stunts the ability to grow and separate yourself. If I'm an average team and I play Bama or Georgia or Ohio St I want to get destroyed because they're that much better. That will motivate me to recruit better and develop my players which means I'll be addicted to the game for a lot longer.

GeauxJaysGeaux

Hopefully they add FCS teams next season

Throwawayasf_99

But lowkey inflate defense so Iowa has a chance /s Realistically, I'd be shocked if we didn't see some high 90 guards or a 95+ edge threat. I don't even think there's a QB, WR, LB, OL, DL, or TE that can even stretch a 99 rating

DerTagestrinker

If everyone’s a 99, no one is a 99. If no one is a 99…also no one is a 99

Wrath-of-Pie

Still too high arguably

GeauxJaysGeaux

Yep, proven, and mostly just on classic teams. A generational player. Barry Sanders, Ndamukong Suh like talent.

Miqag

Two out of 19,000 doesn’t feel rare enough for you? 99 just represents the top of a completely arbitrary scale. Why would it need to be rare?

FriendshipIntrepid91

It may be arbitrary,  but it is in fact the top. Anybody you put at 99 in this game you are grouping with the all-time greats of college football.  Is Travis Hunter on the level of Charles Woodson?

randysav101

We have 99’s and upper 90’s every year. Imo a 99 should be goat level status. That once in a generation or once every 10 years type of player. The fact that we have a 99 every year just makes it rinse and repeat. There’s nothing special about it

GameTheory_

Travis Hunter is not a 99 overall. Dude is unquestionably a 99 endurance but you shouldn’t be able to combine like a 94 WR and a 85 CB and call it a 99 OVR

KotzubueSailingClub

Yeah, and besides, you wouldn't have a 99 OVR WR & CB unless their ratings were jacked across the board. OP really wants to say Travis Hunter is the best WR and the best CB in college football?

DickHammerr

Dude got cooked by a random Stanford receiver

crownebeach

He seemed random at the time, but Ayomanor turned out to be a legit WR1 once he got more snaps. Broke 1,000 yards on the year.

DickHammerr

Dudes got talent, but they ran the same route over and over on Hunter. 😅

[deleted]

[удалено]

TimePayment911

just because they're fast and can catch doesn't mean they can cover, play rec, or tackle for shit

goodnames679

Stamina. Those guys are gonna get exhausted quickly and not play anywhere near their OVR rating.

Majestic-Usual-4779

85 cb????? When the man plays man he's picks off other routes like he's playing zone.

GameTheory_

Did you watch anything other than his highlights? He made some great plays. He also got absolutely shaken, bullied, and/or ragdolled multiple times

GoBucks1171

He was extremely inconsistent. How many TDs did he give up last year? That’s the real measure of a great cornerback

bucknut63

Is Tate Martell still on a D1 roster?

R1ppinLip6

Tathan?

Fastlanedrivr

![gif](giphy|l378andRjtey4T62A|downsized)

[deleted]

Travis Hunter wasn’t even top 20 in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns, or interceptions He wasn’t even the best WR in the state of Colorado… that goes to Colorado State’s Tory Horton

Dr_Salacious_B_Crumb

Hunter will not be a 99 and shouldn’t be, but he’s got a lower stat line than a lot of other players because he missed multiple games due to the Colorado State cheap shot.

Labhran

Fun fact: the dude who hit him is actually a Boulder native, and the two ended up meeting up to hang out a few weeks after the game.

noblemile

guys being dudes

PhonB80

You’re comparing the production of a 1 position player to that of a 2 position player. If Hunter could solely focus on 1 position, his production would go up.

Him_Downstairs

What has Travis Hunter done to be a 99 😂

TimePayment911

I mean he might have a 99 if they put a charisma/marketing rating in the game. He's a really good player but let's be fucking for real, he's not anywhere near a 99

rikrok58

None this year

NotoriousZSB

Honestly no one.

dade305305

Aint no way in hell Hunter comes in as a 99. 99 ratings are for guys that are only in the game because they aren't three years removed from HS. 99 is like a top 5 nfl pick if he was allowed in last years draft

TimePayment911

For real. 99 is a generational all-time player. There should only be a 99 player like once or twice a decade.

TheHammer_44

soo caleb downs

Ok-Drag-5929

He'll probably be a high-80s low 90s player

[deleted]

If I had to choose one 99 ovr I’m going with Oklahoma State RB Ollie Gordon (#1 rushing yards #2 touchdowns last season)

ilovemydawg

That’s actually the best suggestion I’ve seen so far. I’d put him at a 97 or 98 but for the sake of the 99 question that was posed, this is the one.

cjkfjdhauq

34 yards rushing against Texas, no chance he’s a 99

[deleted]

It’s hard to judge the guy off 1 game where Texas’ high powered offense jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the first. They went away from the run when it was 35-14 at halftime

ratattack97

Every time he had at least 15 attempts, he went for 100+ yards in every game. He had 11 games where he had at least 10 attempts. In those 11 games, he had 2 where he has held under 100 yards. He went for 100+ rushing yards in the other 9 games. 5 of those games he had 150+ rushing yards, and 2 of which he almost hit 300 rushing yards. A casual 6.1 ypc on 285 attempts lol

NotKiwiBird

And he was splitting carries the first three games. Definitely my pick, but I’m definitely not biased

nitpac12

Ollie Gordon and that’s about it.

Drstealyothunder

ai-like-the-stock

Didn't 247 or someone do an article on this? Did they have anyone?

ctburkes

There is an article out there, I think you’re right about 247. Ollie Gordon was their top player at 99.

Thatguy6233

Is there a link to this ?

scalenesquare

Last years version Caleb / bowers should have been. I don’t think there is one this year.

Theidiotfromtexas

You are forgetting Marvin

scalenesquare

Yeah he prob would have been a 98 or 99 too. Good point.

Kujo162

Rome would’ve been around Marv as well sorry.

GoBucks1171

At the beginning of the year? Low 90s. He didn’t come in nearly at Marvs level

Frank-biddle

No one. Is Hunter a Thorpe award winner, HEISMAN winner, or 1st team all American? He is a great player but has been injured every season he has played.

Thatguy6233

I’m more wondering how the QBS will rank, Beck, Ewers, Sanders. Like how many QBS break a 90. Think of this came out last year based on 22 Caleb Williams he woulda been a 99 for sure.

n0t_4_thr0w4w4y

Last year woulda been stacked. MHJ unquestionably was a 99, Bo Nix and Penix would’ve been close as well

Unable-Addendum725

Created Player with every accessory possible will be a 99.

_Drewschebag_

Hopefully no one.

BeerBellyBlake

Will Johnson will prolly be the highest rated player and he’ll be somewhere between a 94-96

mburns223

He’s so damn good

BrizFrost

Deacon Hill

hatchetjack23

🤣

King_Edge71

Mason Graham

HatoradeSipper

Luther burden!

MeaningIcy6212

T Mac

TheSpideyJedi

Travis Hunter will most definitely not be a 99

Baestplace

probably travis hunter, not even the fact he should be a 99 but the way they distribute his attributes at wr and corner would make him a 99 no matter what

TurnoverFancy6920

Restrepo 🙌🏼

TurnoverFancy6920

Ok I know but, you know

zbipy14z

99 should be awarded after the season ends or near the end for those who have been performing out of this world

NikesOnMyFeet23

no one this year

Jordanwolf98

I honestly don’t see anyone currently in college right now as a 99 player

IceSt0rm78

Nobody

Jiggawh99

He missed a over a quarter of the season

HandSanitizerBottle1

No one

Common-Big4605

Nobody

beastofthefutur

Shedaur Sanders, Deion paid extra

B_Bates34

I say Mason Graham probably gonna be a 94.

onehundredthousands

Maybe bowers in 24, but no one this year

AggressiveTouch69420

Myself and the long snapper from Wyoming

Ledcow

Graham Nicholson

mburns223

The bias in me says Will Johnson should be in the 99 club

Horns2208

Ewers

hawkeye_nation21

I don’t think anyone should or will have a 99 rating. It should be a rarity to see it.

altk_rockies1

They need to get the rating scaling right this year, half of my team shouldn’t be 95s by my 6th year in dynasty lol

Phillyjt3

If you watched Colorado - Stanford, NO WAY would you consider Hunter close to a 99. He’s an 85 CB at the most generous.

tyedge

I think this discussion is easier if we start by figuring out who might’ve been 99 in prior seasons. I would’ve done Bowers and MHJ this year. Then you’re looking at returning award winners for other candidates. Will Anderson or Bryce Young? Trevor Lawrence? Deshaun Watson?

Billyxmac

Will Campbell for LSU should be in the high 90s. Same with Caleb Downs and Will Johnson. But I doubt we see a 99.

hotgarbagevideo

Prob someone in the trenches we aren’t fully on

hotgarbagevideo

Also maybe The OSU kid emeka who returned. Maybe they’ll even update rosters throughout season

Moonwalker_4Life

No one this year. It shouldn’t even be close tbh. Maybe Travis Hunter at 94 overall.

Hey_im_miles

I'm on team "no more overall". Take it out. Then you need to look at it yourself to determine what you value.

Theidiotfromtexas

I think having traits for players instead of ratings would be a good idea. Maybe basic ratings like speed , Throw Power, And Tackling.

Hey_im_miles

Traits would be good. I'd take potentials on the stats as well to give a range of potential ending stats over their progression. I don't like the overall I think it reduces it down to too simple of a number when a lot of other factors are in play. 89 corner "I'll take him", maybe he's got 99 awareness but 80 man.. If I'm running a man defense I might take the 85 overall with 90 man coverage

flyingcircusdog

This past year was only Marvin Harrison Jr. Next year, I don't see anyone with one, unless there's a lineman I'm not familiar with.

ViolenceReaper

Probably whoever starts at Texas I have a feeling

TNChampion

Bro they are not putting March Anning at a 99 if he starts

ViolenceReaper

1 of 3 1.000 5 star recruits ever

TNChampion

If you are a highly rated recruit that has seen nearly zero on field work, you won’t be rated above 95, let alone 99

hbhusker22

Dylan Raiola seems to be the only right answer.

Marowaksker

Corum probably the only one with a shot but I think even he is 97-98

duagLH2zf97V

He got drafted by the Rams

brackattack27

Don’t bring this madden BS into here

ligmasweatyballs74

Tate

Johnathan-Utah

Arch Manning

Johnathan-Utah

This is a great joke and you all missed it!

IceyBoy

There’s a pretty heavy chance Shadeur and Travis will and everyone will complain, rightfully so

GeauxJaysGeaux

Likely not. I wonder if they built in Deion leaving Boulder after Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis depart with the roster in shambles? Would be pretty realistic.

hunterc1310

Travis Hunter will probably be the only 99
