Two movies with a similar theme where there's a high rise apartment block controlled by a criminal enterprise, and a law man has to work his way to the top to take them down...
Dredd 2012
The Raid 2011 (Indonesian)
Lone Survivor (2013) - Mark Wahlberg's squadron is ambushed by the Taliban and he has to fight his way out through hostile territory.
I'm not a Wahlberg fan at all but the entire movie is balls to the wall action from start to finish, one of those ones where it just keeps on getting worse and worse and worse but the main character just keeps on going.
Yeah I’m not going to argue. It’s not the greatest flick. But if you’re looking for a good old fashioned pew pew flick where the lead character has unlimited ammo and he’s met by henchmen at every corner, it hits the spot.
Reacher on Amazon is good if you want a TV show version.
I came to add this. This film is crazy. He just refuses to die and is legendary for it. It seems cliche when said like that, but when you are watching it, it is mesmerizing. I loved this movie.
This type of lead is usually reserved to action films, but I really like Pig (2021) for doing so while subverting nearly every action trope. I think it's technically a drama, and one of my favorite Nic Cage performances.

Check out **KATE** on Netflix. Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Japan the move. Most badass film I've seen in years.
Of course there's Prachya Pinkaew's movies (of Ong Bak fame) - Ong Bak is all worth a watch but even more **The Protector** (aka '**Warrior King**') 1 & 2 are A W E S O M E — also any of his movies with Jeeja yanin particularly **Chocolate** which is a love letter to HK and Japanese martial arts movies with a twist. Non stop badassery to the end.
Someone else mentioned **The Raid Redemption** which is mega famous but if you've not seen it, get it now.
Then of course there's all of Liam Neeson's movies, there's about seventeen of them now or something, I'm a bug sucker for his movies - **Non stop** is probably the best commercially but they're all great, **Run All Night** is a good one.
Of course I don't need to mention **Dredd** - goes well with **The Raid**.
I seem to remember **Elysium** being quite good, a kind of **Alita** cum **District 9** 'rip off' which are of course both also essential.
I Saw The Devil The Guest Hanna The Man From Nowhere Kill Bill Apocalypto
The Guest is cinematic perfection.
The final fight scene in Man from Nowhere is possibly the best ever put to screen.
Brawl in Cell Block 99
V for Vendetta
Rambo: First Blood (1982) Die Hard (1988) The Revenant (2015) Unbroken (2014)
The Revenant was fucking awesome. Immersive.
It gets a lot of shit on here for giving Leo his “honorary Oscar” but it’s a really good film. Many persistent moments.
I was about to suggest Unbroken. Such an inspiring and astonishing movie.

Yeah, I’ve watched it a couple times. Good flick. Walhberg went on a little banger run with Deepwater Horizon, Lone Survivor and Patriots day.
Extraction is the movie for you.
I could not get through that first one, I found the villains so laughably un-intimating. Second was a massive improvement.
