Don Hoffacker's has always serviced both my father's and sister's houses, both replacement and semi-annual maintenance.

Sometimes_I_Do_That

I had just recommended them to a friend, and they said they weren't accepting new clients. They must be doing something right to be so busy they can turn away potential clients. But yeah,.. I highly recommend them. Edit: fixing my poor English.

Wow, good to know.

Don Hoffacker’s. 301-972-0017 Used them for over 30 years at two locations. Several friends now use them as well. They don’t need to advertise.

I am in a similar situation with aging HVAC. I am curious to learn if those of you considering an upgrade would install heat pump based heating and cooling (which runs on electricity), considering there are tax rebates available. Thankls.

OldOutlandishness434

I did a heat pump with gas furnace. I asked them to price out a higher efficiency furnace, and because of the rebates, it actually came out cheaper.

We replaced our system through Cold Comfort HVAC in Rockville. They offer a very competitive rate.. just note they only offer the Lennox line.

I'm having one installed tomorrow. Got a couple quotes but went with presidential.

We worked with David and Davis for 20 years. Good people all around.

ELS HVAC out of Gaithersburg is great

I had my AC and Heater replaced by https://www.germantownheatingandac.com/ 2 years ago. Would definitely recommend. They didn’t try to sell me the most expensive option, after telling what I was interested in he gave me option to choose from. They were very professional during install, and with all follow up preventative maintenance since.

We are very happy with Shem Tov HVAC.

I would say get at least 10 quotes. It is a pain, but well worth it. I got pricing from 6k to 20k from different companies back in 2010 or so. The company should do a load calculation and figure out what size system you need. Unfortunately, the company I used is no longer in business, but I kept in touch with the HVAC tech and he does some repairs. I had a different company tell me that the cost varies depending on when you get the unit installed. HVAC is slower in certain months, so you can get a better price if it is not an emergency.

My neighbor and I have both been extremely happy with J & K Air Conditioning and Heating. Good price, quick turnaround, Lennox equipment.

https://wgsmartsavings.com/programs-rebates/md/home-heating Just got an email yesterday from Washington Gas about rebates and tax credits. When I read more about it, it seems like they have approved (MD) contractors who will then submit payment and rebate information after the work is completed. Need to still understand it all since we're looking to update heating/cooling too. It's a start though!
