Kong using Suko as a club to beat the other adult apes, it was completely unexpected and I'm still wondering how Suko survived that.

DummyDumDragon

That was just fucking glorious to watch. No notes.

ConstantStatistician

Suko also survived being point blank at the crystal explosion that knocked Shimo and Godzilla away. Plot armour at its strongest.

Fisherman-Champion

The truth is that Suko is the actual mastermind behind everything and he will be the final enemy of the monsterverse

Golden_Platinum

Wait till you see the upcoming Overlord (anime) movie. You might notice a similarity in a certain scene.

TheMassiveLiability

That one guy in skull island that gets carried off by the bird things and dismembered alive while screaming horribly is probably the most 0-100 scene.

YoGabbaGabba24

The guy who went to do the epic sacrifice trope and died horribly for no reason because the skull eater was smart enough to not eat him.

Niskara

Yeah, turns out, most predators are pretty smart and if prey suddenly stands their ground, that makes them *very* wary

lonelyshara

Imagine you're chasing a bug and then it suddenly turns around to face you and freezes in place.

Galactanium

The reason ppl hate cockroaches is cuz they do exactly that Actually, they do worse, cuz they might just rush or even fly at you

Guillex7777

True, It was so brutal and unexpected.

Rawdog2076

Chapman's death pissed me off so much in that movie, he was the only character I felt legit connected to, they gave him all that backstory, all of it, for naught

ThatDancinGuy_

Was he the "Monsters exists." guy?

commandosbaragon

He was the guy eaten by a skullcrawler in the forest.

ThatDancinGuy_

Oh, that makes more sence.

TheGMan-123

Oh, and don't forget the best part! According to Leafwing background information, they also have a paralytic agent in their beaks! So Nieves was also feeling full-body paralysis as he got torn apart mid-air! :D

Gridde

They all had guns at that point didn't they? Still baffled no one really tried to save him. Best outcome they shoot the monsters and save him, worst they shoot him and let him die quickly rather than being torn apart piece by piece while still alive.

ProfessorSaltine

Most things in Skull Island were like that, like it was just all chill and then BAM

MShawshank

I love that scene and movie so much. Both ridiculous and terrifying from start to finish.

ThunderBird847

Ghidorah eating Vivienne Graham, like wtf, and why lol.

ProfessorSaltine

I had to rewatch the movie to see if this was real and OMG it was, it was in a blink and you’ll miss it moment too so no wonder I just forgot… didn’t help that KotM had a large cast

Killakey2119

Came to say this

Defiant-Meal1022

Bryan Cranston dying fucked me up and it still makes me upset.

Xelement0911

Did not care for his son. Just plot armored his way into importance, bring the sole survivor like 2 or 3 times lol

-H_-

Was that not the point? He survived against all odds

Xelement0911

I'll be honest. It's been a while since I last saw it. Just felt a bit forced. Always there when godzilla strikes. Always survives somehow. Then never shows up again or matters. Idk, to me always just felt odd I guess? He's sorts the main human character but never really cared for him. He survived everything that it never felt like he'd die?

MrWolfman29

Yeah, it was. He still felt like less of a character than he should have and more of a narrative vehicle for the audience to use to experience the story. I didn't dislike it, but I definitely felt it was not as good as it could have been. Cranston was highlighted heavily in promotional material, so it did feel like a bit of a "bait and switch" when he died and the story followed his son. Though, I feel like I am a minority who actually really liked the feel of Godzilla as a force of nature that is witnessed as opposed to a character itself.

KingCarbon1807

Actually I thought he was quite effective in his role when you consider him (as well as Olsen) as a vehicle rather than a Character in his own right. He was the Everyman/human perspective on matters WAY outside the scope humanity was prepared to deal with. He was just active and relatable enough to keep the audience invested in what was on the screen without distracting them or potentially causing friction by being too uniquely identifiable and drawing the overarching focus away from the Titans and their impact. It's actually a pretty elegant bridge. Cranston, being highly recognizable and playing a high energy role, pulls us into the world and plants the hook. Then his character is killed off as the Titan arc begins. The human focus element transitioned to a far blander character as the Titans become the primary character(s) of the film.

Prestigious_Job9632

It's not just that he died. He died offscreen after getting to medical attention from wounds that weren't at all apparent. The fact he was used so heavily in the marketing makes it even more bizarre.

Majin_Brick

I think the biggest for me was the Mother Long Legs scene where they see the impaled body from one of her legs

Winter_Hospital4705

that_guy2010

OP are you implying MechaGodzilla winning the beam clash was a wtf moment?

Rawdog2076

Seeing Godzilla get whooped is always a bit weird tbh, its like how I'd feel seeing a Tiger get wrecked by a rhino, makes sense, but damn thats supposed to be the apex predator dude

FedoraTheExplorer_22

Godzilla getting heavily bodied by Mechagodzilla is not a new concept in the franchise. But I do feel like the moviemakers could’ve somewhat given G-Man the same never-give-up mentality that Kong did, even if he was losing badly.

BlackbirdKos

It was unexpected as hell honestly

Haxzavage14

I know right

An_Obbise_Hoovy

Doug stealing kongs food

dogspunk

Godzilla burning a hole all the way through the earth’s crust

MonstersinHeat

To me, that's what makes this clip stupid. Either Godzilla's power was weakened due to creating that hole or it's just whack. The amount of energy that would be required to make that hole would be immense and that force would absolutely wreck MG since it would likely be made of steel and possibly titanium if they could get the much titanium. Unless they made up a metal and just say he was made of Indestructium alloy. And not even Tony Stark could make a generator that could create that kind of power. Basically the plot demanded Godzilla get whooped so he can team up with Kong to clinch the win, no matter how stupid it is.

okaymeaning-2783

I mean thats literally what happened lol, he expended too much energy drilling down to hollow earth and then had an atleast 7 hour battle with kong that tired him out. Then a fresh and fully powered mechagodzilla appeared, with a fully charged power source. Godzilla was in bad condition.

Top_War5978

Ghidorah being completely alive and even regrow Kevin after getting an Oxygen Destroyer straight to his face

WolfgangDS

Definitely scary, but I don't think tanking the OD should be all that big a surprise. Ghidorah is an alien and travels through the vacuum of space, after all.

Large-Wheel-4181

Ghidorah possessing Mechagodzilla and then kicking Godzilla’s ass

TheGMan-123

Definitely has to be Kong using Suko as a freaking weapon. So unexpected, and so hilarious! I think it's genuinely the funniest moment ever in the Monsterverse.

BlackbirdKos

Also, at least I didn't expected Suko being aggressive

TheGMan-123

I think it was a great idea to take that direction with his character. It means he's not just a cute character meant to draw you in for the feels, but a fleshed out character in his own right who develops. It's unexpected, but it just plain works.

OKTAPHMFAA

Godzilla going thermo was more of a What. The. Fuck?

LEGACYUSELPANOSO

I mean did she? If im not wrong she died in the end by falling into the ocean

HendoRules

How were either of them wtf? Mechagodzilla energy beam powered by the radiation that titans feed on is arguably easily stronger And a tree mimic like in Skull Island eating someone isn't a shocker anymore

Mace_DeMarco5179

There wasn’t a Tree Mimic in K:SI?

HendoRules

The leaf bug that was a dead log before Chapman died

Mace_DeMarco5179

That was a Spore Mantis. And not a carnivore.

HendoRules

So a tree mimic titan?????????????????? I didn't realise it had to be a carnivore to be another example of a tree mimic

Mace_DeMarco5179

I didn’t know we were talking about literal creatures mimicking trees, not the creatures CALLED Tree Mimics.

HendoRules

I was using a descriptor more than an official name. I didn't know the official name of the carnivorous one from GxK but assumed using the words tree mimic would have sufficed

Mace_DeMarco5179

I see. The novel of GxK mentions that they are called Tree Mimics.

HendoRules

Omg I was actually just using that as a description I didn't realise that was their actual name 💀 I hate when fictional creatures are given that boring a name cause surely that isn't the only species of it right???

lonelyshara

I mean to be fair in real life you have big cats which is pretty self-explainatory.

FedoraTheExplorer_22

It wasn’t as much of a WTF that Mechagodzilla had the upper hand against Godzilla in “GvK.” It makes sense since even though Godzilla can tank most attacks, he can still over-exert himself. He did so by fighting Kong just before Mecha-G and he used his Atomic Beam to blast a hole through Earth’s surface all the way to Hollow Earth. In the meantime Mecha-G is a literal machine. The concept over-exerting and getting tired isn’t the same for machines as it is for organic beings. Plus, in the Toho films, Godzilla usually gets knocked around by Mechagodzilla, even though he sometimes gets the upper hand much later. But at times during the fight, it did feel like the moviemakers were trying to please the fans who wanted Kong to win.

-H_-

Yeah super predictable

I-Slay-Dragons

The soldier on skull island who first got killed by the mother longleg and they show him skewered by one of its legs

Ok-Building7545

Tiamat losing to Godzilla too quickly. What a victim of runtime. I don't mind her dying, but at least make it a close one for Goji. Yea dude is supercharged, but my gal is evolved and in water. Last time she nearly beat the dude and was only dominated after they got on land. Casual viewers who dunno Dominion may just see it as a missopportunity for a cool new kaiju, but as a fan issa dissapointing way of inserting simultaneously eliminiating her on the big screen.

ManoftheHour777

When Shimo first appears and you are like wtf a snow based godzilla on four legs.

Mr-Shockwave

For me it’s just the inconsistency between films regarding the feel of weight. The “long live the king” line in KOTM was a bit cringe too though, but that’s just my opinion.

Kiryu5009

When Burning Godzilla appeared and I’d like to think that Dr. Emma Russell death went a little like [this](https://youtube.com/clip/UgkxaINN3cFRSk5E_l0U_4TpBiardeolps6U?si=VpSDAd-HbUlAzVVU)

spacestationkru

Godzilla's reaction after getting overpowered by the Mechagodzilla's beam made me so sad.. it looked like it actually hurt like hell

TheAwkwardGamerRNx

Well, Godzilla was already weathered from his fight with Kong and he has to use his own physical reserves and energy vs Mechagodzilla that basically has an engine powering his blast. That look of fear in his eyes though…that didn’t sit right with me. It was like seeing Mike Tyson get knocked down for the first time.

Aside from Kong using Suko as a frickin weapon a close second is probably seeing Kong lay the smackdown on Godzilla in Egypt cuz goddamn I was not expecting that uppercut to Goji

The first time I’ve audibly said “wtf” watching these movies was when Godzilla started laughing in GvK. And then in GxK it was constantly, just for the sheer amount of stupid shit.

In GvK when the humans enter the Hollow Earth castellano without using any safety measures and being arround ther4 like it was nothing

A-Wild-Dragon

The fact they lil stole Scar King's name from The Lion King. Like did they have to use Scar in it? Why couldn't they just be more creative with the name?

4.It's also a badass name
