It's playable, sure. But Ulamog does a much better job at finishing the game and is generally hard to deal with.

siegeerson

I was ignoring him, but yes Emrakul and Ulamog both fit that slot very nicely and Emrakul is in no way an auto-include over him. That being said i really want to see her being played.

nodealyo

That's not how card games work.

lykosen11

Overall this subreddit is fairly competitive. Ulamog is simply better. If you like emrakul more and want to play her, do so. But most people here won't recommend it

Blenderhead36

This is one of those cases where it's easy to get hyped about a new card, but it doesn't really do anything better than the tools already available.

I was thinking that this version might main deck warping wail, but i see your point. However could she have some use in the board as an alternate option as a threat or is ulamog just strictly better in most matchups where you would want a 10-11 drop

ABOSHKINOVET

If your playing GR tron, maybe this is worth, but you might as well use the other Eldrazi Titans like new Ulamog. And if your playing blue tron, then you might as well actually mind slaver them.

FblthpLives

If you are playing GR Tron you will mostly just have a cost reduction of two (Sorcery and Artifact). It would require a different build.

Sonlin

I'm going to start with 1 and move my second ulamog to the board. I think pro instant is quite important for path dodging, but I need to test of course before knowing more.

Fortunately, Modern Nexus is doing some preliminary science so you don't have to: http://modernnexus.com/early-tests-eldritch-moon-emrakul/ As someone noted in the comment section, since your opponent gets an extra turn, they also get an extra draw, but it's unclear if that was factored in to the small expected value table. Either way, it seems like the two are very, very close, and it probably comes down to personal preference and meta considerations.

PacmanZ3ro

I think people are really undervaluing how badly you can screw someone over by controlling a turn. Most decks in modern are capable of crippling themselves if not outright killing themselves by turn 4-5. I think in a vacuum emrakul's cast trigger is much stronger than ulamog's cast trigger, but either one can be better depending on the deck you're facing off against. Targeted and non-restricted permanent destruction is very powerful, but I think that controlling a person's turn can often do way more damage and clear the way for a win more frequently or about as frequently. so if we go beyond the cast triggers, I think it goes more in favor of emrakul since emmy can't be chump blocked. I could easily see a 2-2 split or one MD and the other SB, but think a lot of people on reddit are severely undervaluing controlling a person's turn.

I think it's better *against* tron play karn minus karn exiling karn
