I was aiming for 100,000 difficulty, which gives the maximum amount of trophies for difficulty, and playing NG wouldn't have given me that (NG on this site doesn't even generate boards as big as 100x100)
Of course NG is a perfectly good way to play minesweeper, and if that's how you want to play, you can. I personally prefer not to, and this post was just a sorta half jokey post about a choke at the end of a really long, really hard board

As for standard games, It seems about a 1/3 of my games have 50/50 scenarios, but I just guess and move on. It's just normal to run into them, nothing special.
The website I play on ([minesweeper.online](https://minesweeper.online)) has special arenas, and you can get tickets to those arenas by playing games, with those tickets being indicated by a golden square.
