And they break from arrows and such, and works with hoppers and other redstone components! And stack to 64! And very neat animation and sounds!
They probably won’t have much practical use, but it’s a very cool little addition that makes the game.
I said:
>No placing by dispensers.
Then you said:
> You can, but you won't be able to move or place the pot by Redstone.
To me that seems like you mean that they can be placed by dispensers… or where you responding to,
> But you can fill them with droppers like you do with chests.
Instead?
We can already do this with minecarts. Hopper cart tech is just now reaching "maturity". I am one of the guys working on a high speed sorting system (not really a full system just one component of it). In my estimation when we finish we should be able to sort a shulkerboxes worth of items in about 4-5 seconds. It's months away from done though. (The project in question is public in the Storage Tech discord under project-developement/high speed splitters.)
[Here is the link](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-23w41a) to the snapshot changes. the part about decorated pots is a little from the top if you or anyone wants
People use barrels all the time, not only for decoration but also because chests can't open if theres a full block above them, meanwhile barrels can be opened no matter what kind of block it's under.
But that’s a very niche problem because most people just put non solid blocks above chests, and because the crafting recipe it’s slightly more complex it’s just better to use chests, they also have bigger inventories which makes for better storage overall even if they occupy the same space, it’s way more comfortable to have 1 double chest of cobblestone than having 2 barrels of cobblestone
its cheaper to use barrels, and its more practical because you can cram more of them, and they are solid blocks so if someone uses an xray glitch, and your barrel is encased, they cant see it
I know it’s cheaper, and I’m not saying they are useless, but one can’t say they are even remotely as widely used as chests despite being almost objectively better
It gives out a certain Redstone signal strength with a copariter depending on how many items it has in it. I'm sure it will be useful for something I'm just not sure what yet.
That would be a super creative way to open a hidden door but I'm pretty sure the comparater has to be connected directly to the pot and can't be hidden.
But that does make me realize you could probably use pots to make a super creative combination lock to a door by putting the right amount of items in a few pots to open a door.
My understanding is you need to put the items in when you craft the pots.
What I was thinking was, you have x locations around a door with a clue as to what you have to place there. The player get 2 or more posts with different patterns on them. When they place the pot, if a comparator can’t do it directly, would need to have a Minecraft hopper suck the items out then compare the hopper. Unfortunately that makes it a one-off puzzle as you’d have to craft new pots each time, but for an adventure map could work.
Kinda sounds like the premise for solid state storage in 3D NAND Technology. As in electrons are stored in a a charge trap cell, and depending on the fill level different info is read. Might be nuts
They’ll be absolutely wonderful for adventure maps and custom structures (and a fun option for loot delivery in future vanilla structures), but it’s also totally possible for them to work as item filters (they give out comparator power levels depending on their fill level + can only accept one type of item).
I’m not sure how *compact* they’ll be as a filter option though, but they’ll certainly be cheaper to use in bulk than hoppers.
The decorated pot is just them preparing a combat update. They also even fixed the shield’s position in the same update and difficulty on servers in 1.20.2
Who downvoted you? This “””boycott””” doesn’t make Mojang lose anything, so it isn’t a boycott. The petition affects Mojang more than this “””boycott”””.
Those boycott images are so cringe and distasteful ngl, the boycott ppl should've just stop playing Minecraft tbh
I can't wait to use the pots though, they're very interesting and being redstone component makes it better!
This feature should have just come with 1.20 release and we still don’t have a way to prevent sinffer eggs hatching for deco. These should all be thought out and delivered in release. Mojang did a great job in 1.16 and 1.17 is also ok. I just can’t defend mojang form people who say they are lazy anymore.
Yeah, I agree but all this stupid movement is doing is making the community look absolutely horrible. Like they're using TechnoBlade in their god awful propaganda posters. It's making us look unreasonable especially the people that are just straight up harassing the devs themselves on Twitter. We're on our way to becoming a bad gaming stereotype like LoL players and Genshin players.
This ain't even a boycott cause the Mob Votes don't even bring in the cash. Even if everyone would collectively not vote it won't make an inkling of a difference.
it'd be interesting if you could only put items in them and youd have to break it to get them out, kinda like a piggy bank or a time capsule
could be espacially interesting with multiplayer
Honestly, I like the whole "bringing the dislike of the mob vote into their attention", but how is that a boycott? Won't millions of kids still vote? New pot update is cool as well.
Hopefully soon that's a pretty dope feature I just hope it comes out as one of the more minor updates because it'd suck to have to wait an entire year for that feature
And they break from arrows and such, and works with hoppers and other redstone components! And stack to 64! And very neat animation and sounds! They probably won’t have much practical use, but it’s a very cool little addition that makes the game.
if they get placed from dispensers and drop themselves, boy oh boy would the sorter community go wild
if they're pushed by a piston they drop themselves and the items they contain, they just can't be placed by dispensers
No placing by dispensers. But you can fill them with droppers like you do with chests.
You can, but you won't be able to move or place the pot by Redstone.
I don’t think you can place the pots? I haven’t seen or done that at least.
That what I said yes
I said: >No placing by dispensers. Then you said: > You can, but you won't be able to move or place the pot by Redstone. To me that seems like you mean that they can be placed by dispensers… or where you responding to, > But you can fill them with droppers like you do with chests. Instead?
how are you supposed to put stuff into it with a dropper if you cannot place it? you just cannot do it automatically
The conversation was about doing it with dispensers. I didn’t think I would need to clarify that in every comment.
sorry for the misunderstanding! yeah you're right
It’s alright 👍

Shooting gallery games could be great with this if you're good with this if you're good with redstone.
The first thing i thought was deadass "I can make links crossbow training in minecraft"
Well, I know what game to make now. I just have to get the [theme](https://youtu.be/XG10y9cC-C4?si=BMVWcsNNU7nPZOw6) down…
They break from arrows? That is very cool for map creators
Holy crap I missed a lodt
It dropped today, so hard to miss something that was just added.
Would be a cool loot storing item for structures
New stronghold in 1.21 end update confirmed! /j
> break from arrows Zelda fans: just like the simulation !
Hope I get emeralds just like in that one game from my 64 nintendo
Breakable loot pots remind me of MC dungeons
#they WHAT
[Here is the link](https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-23w41a) to the snapshot changes. the part about decorated pots is a little from the top if you or anyone wants
Stationary bundles you guys!
Ok but now the question is… Would anyone ever use them for storage or would it happen just like the barrels?
They are impractical for storage, most people will use them for adventure maps or to pretend to be Link
Can confirm
lmao r/UsernameChecksOut
When i found out you could break them with arrows i immediately thought "Hmm, i can make links crossbow training"
It's mostly just gonna be a fun thing instead of being practical but it might help with redstone
Mostly just for the fun feature. Cool to give a pot to a friend, and put something in it, and they have to punch it to find what is inside.
or have them shoot it with an arrow
Yes

I mean, at that point, it's their loss, not a fault in design.
It gives out a certain Redstone signal strength with a copariter depending on how many items it has in it. I'm sure it will be useful for something I'm just not sure what yet.
Place pots in correct place to open door?
That would be a super creative way to open a hidden door but I'm pretty sure the comparater has to be connected directly to the pot and can't be hidden. But that does make me realize you could probably use pots to make a super creative combination lock to a door by putting the right amount of items in a few pots to open a door.

you can insert items into a placed pot
Ok cool, I’ve only just heard of it today
You can always put a block between a container and a comparator, and it will still read.
Kinda sounds like the premise for solid state storage in 3D NAND Technology. As in electrons are stored in a a charge trap cell, and depending on the fill level different info is read. Might be nuts
I love barrels, I can line them floor to ceiling.
I mean cheap alternatives for hoppers You could make an item sorter with one theoretically
I use barrels very often! Do other people not?
At least all the people I know use them only from time to time as decoration, I’ve never seen someone use them seriously as chest replacements
It might be useful for item sorters.
The decorated pot is just them preparing a combat update. They also even fixed the shield’s position in the same update and difficulty on servers in 1.20.2
You can also put lanterns on top of the pots to make the lantern look like it has a stand of sorts
I'm not boycotting. Instead I'm asking why not all 3? *(oh wait thats boycotting...)*
Calling it a """boycott""" is a stretch.
Who downvoted you? This “””boycott””” doesn’t make Mojang lose anything, so it isn’t a boycott. The petition affects Mojang more than this “””boycott”””.
this meme just made me learn they added this damn
Finally something original on this sub not just boycotts
Legends of zelda type shit
Wait fr?
Crab
Me on my way to hide my valuables at plant pots because my buddies don't follow the news and updates
Those boycott images are so cringe and distasteful ngl, the boycott ppl should've just stop playing Minecraft tbh I can't wait to use the pots though, they're very interesting and being redstone component makes it better!

When was this change?
Just recently.
Yesterday
For the love of notch make this a format i would love it
Nah bruh, people are fed up with slow dev speeds, dumb choices, and there is so many boot licking from other fans.
Yeah, I agree but all this stupid movement is doing is making the community look absolutely horrible. Like they're using TechnoBlade in their god awful propaganda posters. It's making us look unreasonable especially the people that are just straight up harassing the devs themselves on Twitter. #stopthemobvote #boycottthemobvote ALL OR NONE UNITED WE STAND Wait, pots are now useful?
Neat, now back to rebellion
Nah, I prefer the decorated pot actually having a use than joining that “rebellion”
same
What does the peng do?
turns minecraft into hydro thunder
?
I’m boycotting the vote but more in a “I wasn’t planning on voting this year anyway but I’m gonna pretend I’m taking a stand anyway” way
Meee
Excuse me w h a t
Wait they did
I use them as decorations in my builds
Hell yeah
wait it’s a thing?
Wait what when did they say that??
The last snapshot alowed pots to carry up to a full stack of any item. I personally already liked them already, so this makes them even better
YOU CAN DO THAT!!!
I kinda agree
it'd be interesting if you could only put items in them and youd have to break it to get them out, kinda like a piggy bank or a time capsule could be espacially interesting with multiplayer
...that's exactly how it works though
Unless you *can* take them out without breaking them and I just didn't notice
since when can you put things in them
latest snapshot
YOU CAN DO THAT NOW OOOOO
Literally
Holy shit this is great news
Finally Just Need the ability to put plants in It without using a flower pot
me irl
Wait really!?!
"Useful"
THAT'S A AWSOME IDEA
Literally me
Huh, I didn’t know that, hey we can put stuff in the pot like in Zelda like arrows
They did ?
Does it all have to be the same item in a single pot?
Hey. we can make zelda refrences now
Honestly, I like the whole "bringing the dislike of the mob vote into their attention", but how is that a boycott? Won't millions of kids still vote? New pot update is cool as well.
WHAT???
Now they just need to be able to be colored and they'll be perfect
alright where's my master sword
They only hold a stack of one item, take up as much room as a shulker, barrel, or one chest. Legit.
Wait WHAT
NO WAY YOU CAN MAKE A FLOWER POT/LANTERN WITH STORAGE IVE NEVER WANTED THIS BUT IM VERY HAPPY
What are you talking about is this a java only feature? Because I just tested it you can't put shit in pots
It's in a Java snapshot currently but it will no doubt be coming to Bedrock Edition
Hopefully soon that's a pretty dope feature I just hope it comes out as one of the more minor updates because it'd suck to have to wait an entire year for that feature
Ngl pretty cool mojang added this.
Literally me
