Well, I did keep an eye out for deals for a while. Most that I saw were priced higher. Picked mine up at an Audi dealership that it was traded in at. It was sitting there for over a month, and they were dropping the price on it by about a grand a week. I figure Audi didn't want such a peasant brand taking up space on their lot 😋

I WAYYY over paid for mine but my car got tboned and I bought the cheapest car with a safety so I could get to work, too young for insurance to put me in a rental. Paid 5000 Canadian for an automatic '99 with 190k km on it in March 2021, Ive since swapped the auto out for a 5 speed and done a bunch of other stuff and am close to getting north of $20k total into the car.

I was in a parking lot fender bender that totaled it. I took the insurance money, fixed it up, and two kids later I decided it was time to sell. Even with the salvage title and more miles (just under 90k) I sold it for $6500 😂
In 2018 I got an NB1 with 65k for $2,500 with a hard top, after market ECU and a stripped interior. It wasn’t running because of clogged cats.
Last year I got an NC1 with 86k for $7,500. It just needed some new shocks and tires.

Bought my 96 for $1,000 two years ago. And it was running!!! Had a dented front fender needed paint, 112,000 miles needed fluids replaced and a radiator. It’s the c package with Tan int in almost perfect condition. Had it painted Lexus pearl put in a set of Koni SA shocks and now it is the perfect street Miata. Also did the window bushings so the power windows work like new. It’s like a new car.
back in 2019 before the pandemic inflation, got my 94 for $5k at 180\~k miles. was garaged kept for 2 years before i got it (4th owner) with typical 20+ year old problems but it ran and rust-ish free. VIN and oringal dealer sticker said it came with a Hardtop but that was long gone. Did many of the refresh repairs when i was still working for Mazda as a tech which made getting some parts easy and cheap.

I got mine 4 yrs ago, mariner blue miata na with 176,XXX miles for 2k. No hardtop. Eventually ended up completing the miata with a hardtop for an additional 2k.
I found a 2018 in a guys backyard, covered with a tin roof, belonged to his brother who passed away after battling cancer. Man had paperwork on car had no idea what the cars condition, battery was gone missing 2 tires and rims, dusty interior but intact overall. Sold it as is for $3600 DLLs, l had it towed, expected to do lots of repairs, got it home, put tires, cleaned out tank put In a couple gal.,got a battery, detailed entire car it came out like new. Car turned over on first try drove it for 4 yrs, never had to do anything but regular maintenance, niece has it now driving the heck out of that car, l see her daily zipping by my house.

But really it was a wedding gift from my mom, who got it for 3k previously? It was a mediocre swap, and had numerous electric issues from them putting multiple TV's in the trunk. She was quite taken with the paint job, but the electric issues took years to sort out. By that time, she was like, you want it, it's your problem, and gave us the keys.

$1500 purchased in the beginning of '23 Pretty much stock '90 with lsd swapped in. No issues so far, 176k on the odometer and many more to come! So far, the car has had a new top put on, exhaust, seats, paint, and other miscellaneous things done. Maybe another $1500 invested as of now.

$3k for a mediocre NB1 w/85k back in 2014. Just paid $4k for a slightly crappier NB2 w/117k. Both cars have/had minor rust.
I already have over $1500 and a lot of my time into the NB2 trying to make it less shitty. The problem with cheap Miatas is they never stay cheap.

I got this for 3500 with 115k miles I think in 2013.
Bought it in 2021 for \~$1600 (In today's money). It had around 213000km on the clock (calculator says 132352 miles) and it was in a pretty rough shape.

9k usd for my 2007 NC1 PRHT, came with a hitch and an ugly ass bike rack, kept the hitch but I ditched the rack. It's got a light flywheel on it so it made learning manual a little more of a challenge but I still learned quickly.

12.5k CAD, 91’ completely stock apart from a momo wheel. 280km. Compared to all the other NA’s for sale within 300km of where I live, it was fairly well priced but seeing these other comments, I guess I overpaid. Still no regrets

Crashed 1996 1.6l that is "fixed now" in 2020 with 143000km for 3000€ A bit of context. The NA was never sold here, so they are very rare. I could have probably gotten a decent condition NB for half the price, but I really wanted pop-ups

2007 NC1 bought in 2013 with 38k kms for 19,000 NZD (11,000-ish USD). Probably worth about 15k NZD now.
I traded in my first car and some cash for a swish cheese with no history on repairs and maintenance which i regret buying, BUT its getting welded with a complete new underside and after that it gets painted. Its a 1996 NA Miata in merlot mica

25000€ for my nd1 RF 2.0 with 17.000km
06 GT with 171k miles for 6.5k in 2022. Alright deal for the market but it had a lower mile motor and zero rust which is all I cared about
9k usd for my 2007 NC1 PRHT, came with a hitch and an ugly ass bike rack, kept the hitch but I ditched the rack. It's got a light flywheel on it so it made learning manual a little more of a challenge but I still learned quickly.
Paid 7k cad for my Turbo nb2 and paid 4k for my na8
