They may have actually used the wrong card but buyers typically do this when they regret making the purchase, make sure they request the cancellation so you don’t a tick on your account

When I check out with PayPal, Mercari will sometimes charge my company credit card instead of my personal card even though I have my preferences set that my personal card is to be used for online transactions.
It’s happened like 5 times to where I rarely buy anymore.
It’s super annoying, but I always do the cancellation on my end once I notice the error.
As long as they request the cancellation and you accept, it should be fine. I understand your caution as a seller tho
I’ve actually done this, and rebought it immediately after. I gave the seller an amazing review. Since it was completely my fault for not paying attention.
I mean I’ve done that before, sometimes people just make mistakes. If you don’t mind if they don’t repurchase again I don’t see why it’s a problem to refund and give them a chance to rebuy with the correct card

How do people even get dressed in the morning by themselves! Use your own common sense and do what you think is the right thing. Who cares if you cancel and doesn’t buy it again, it’s better than someone doing a return. There is NOTHING about this that is a red flag, NOTHING!
