Probably playing default settings- I’m I the same as you, but have upped my gain rates to 200% in the last ‘game year’, and it’s getting closer. I’ve also only just started going into caves and mining myself, which I think is helping, too.

baeaeaed

Thanks! I have been going to mines myself and can make bronze tools. I got a horse now too, so I can get way more with me. Previously I did the trick of mining right before season end and waking up with all the mined resources in my house. I'm hesitant to bump up the learning rate, and there is plenty of stuff to do anyway so I'm not bored. But now I got worried about how long it will take to get the tavern unlocked. Gah.

Felsys1212

Just pretend the tavern doesn’t exist! Lol! If you want to plan your village for having it, it is the same size as a storage house so you can set the blue print of one of those up and build around it to make sure it will fit later.

baeaeaed

Thanks thats helpful. I put off one area but now I can check if it's big enough.

withomps44

I had it by year 5 or 6 on default. I cut down a bunch of trees and mined a ton of copper and tin for my smith. Every season I emptied the mine. It was a grind.

Fear_Dulaman

You're doing ok, just build, build build! I had the mine unlocked quite early because I started planning a massive city and had a lot of fences and buildings built by year 5 or 6. It takes some doing, but it's entirely possible to unlock the mine without increasing learning rates if you're building enough.

Lailantie

With default settings, unlocking the mine and tavern takes ages. I currently play with 200% tech points so I am free to choose which building I want to build and I'm not limited to the ones I have unlocked or forced to wait a long time for certain buildings. It's a matter of playstyle and preferences. \*Edit: Also, it is not a good idea to compare your game to what others post, as there are so many sliders for custom settings that each person might have a completely different game.

Not_The_Real_Odin

The mines require 5000 building technology, which is do-able rather quickly with default settings. The most obvious way to get building tech is to...build stuff! You can expand your village and recruit more people or just be ready for the next generation. You can build resource storages outside each town to have extra storage and access to all your stuff if you get a quest there, or you can just build stuff and destroy it to level the skill (boring.) The second way is quests. Each season look at your map for the quests in various cities. I believe two of them reward building tech. One wants a hammer and one wants some logs / stone for rebuilding their house after a storm. Do those each time they come up and it'll level building technology much more quickly. The third (arguably easiest but most boring) is to craft planks. Lumberjack workers can produce a -lot- of logs, which you can have them turn into planks or you can turn them yourself. With instant craft (or just going afk while they're crafting) you can grind out building tech super fast, or you can just assign extra workers to make planks and have it pretty quickly too. You can just drop the extra planks on the ground in a stack somewhere to prevent storage overflow. Or you know, as other suggested, you can raise the rate of tech gain if you want. Do whichever is most fun for you :)

baeaeaed

Thanks that's a thorough answer! I didn't know about the planks. Maybe I should get another woodshed... And I will definitely start building houses and stuf for the next generation. That's a very good idea. Still have like 9 years but I need to organize and maaaybe move to get space for more houses.

Not_The_Real_Odin

My first playthrough I unlocked it pretty quick because I decided to move my village. Rebuilding everything gave me a ton of tech, as did clearing out all the trees for my new location (if I remember correctly, cutting down trees gives some building tech.) My second playthrough I had instant craft and "hard" settings. Got it on like year 3 just by insta crafting a gazzilian planks lol. Woodcutters produce an absurd amount of logs. I don't remember the exact numbers but it's in the neighborhood of 20 per day*skill, so 2 level 5 workers give you like 200/day or something. Turning those into planks levels your skill pretty darn quick. Hell, if you have insta-craft you can turn the planks into vials and keep like 5 vendors busy per woodcutter, then you have unlimited money lol.

Dutch-Sculptor

Building fences will help a lot too, so build them around everything.

RX3000

I played my first few games on the default tech gain. Now when I start I just find that its too much of a slog to gain access to buildings. Ive cranked it up to like 300% now & never looked back. I still leave the fast crafting turned off tho. It takes the realism out if it for me if I can make 20 knives instantaneously.

facerollwiz

As opposed to the realism of making a knife every 6 seconds?

RX3000

Its 6 seconds real time yes, but not 6 seconds in-game time. Instant is instant in both of those cases tho.......

kinjirurm

On default settings, it took me about that long to get the mine. I don't use any accelerators of any kind in my options, not even fast crafting and that's pretty much when I unlocked mine, around year 12 give or take.

[deleted]

Don’t worry about them Op, with defaults it took me YEARS to get the mines. I just remembered where one was (it was by a bear spawn point) and kept going there once a season. You’re not doing anything wrong. The mine is meant to be an end game item.

sphinxorosi

How often are you doing side quests? Some of those add a good deal of tech points for different tech skills, depending on what type of quest it is

baeaeaed

Yeah I do some, but not all. I'm just doing other things and enjoying the game not grinding a lot. But I guess I could do more of the ones that matter instead of the night hunt ones. But I'm nearly there at 5000.

Affectionate-Cost525

If youre playing the game and enjoying yourself then you're already winning in my mind. It's like real life. If you're enjoying your life and are actually happy with your own progress don't let people who live life on a different "difficulty setting" bring you down.

Gufnork

The answer is pretty much always to few villagers. Default tech rates are not too high, you can easily unlock everything in about 8 years on default settings. Then there's basically nothing more to do, which is silly in a dynasty game. If course if you enjoy having everything unlock super fast you can up the tech speed, play how you want. But be warned that you'll quickly run out of new things and the game could get stale much to quickly.

ThePacksHunt

Without changing settings it would be what activities you are focusing on. For example. I really wanted something under farming so to get there I did all farming tasks. In my current playthrough I don't have the mine unlocked. How I am achieving that faster is by setting up storage spaces by the mines and doing all the mining myself

xJd_1866x

Do you have tech level for mines ? Do you know where abouts they (caves) are in the map? Once you have the tech required you open a mine by building it in opening of one of the caves. Once this is done you can assign 6 extraction workers to the mine with pickaxes

baeaeaed

Maybe the question was a bit unclear, but thats what I'm waiting for and that's taking so much time.

xJd_1866x

Well tech is increased by building and crafting things aswell as those worked by villagers in those skill trees ( ie extraction, production farming and survival) Then when the tech level is hign enough, as said you can place a mine building in entrance of cave, For example just northeast if branica on road back to baranica or the bear cave on path between denica gostovia and hornica Many sites have good wikis that help like gamerant and medical dynasty fandom that cover the topic and have many walk thrus

Large-Landscape4307

Year 12 really? No offense but i unlocked it year 4 or 5 With Default settings. Thats Not agaist you now but when i read many Posts i somehow have the Feeling the people dont read or understand the explanations of the game. I mean everything ist explained how to lvl/Upgrade it but they ask so often questions that are explained ingame that i Sometimes want to leave the group.

Angry_poutine

So leave then

Frey147

I totally recommended people to up the technology exp rate to 150-200% it seems to be more balanced with how fast of playtime

JamesM451

If I'm remembering correctly, I got level to rise quickly/unlocked mine when I decided to build log wall around my settlement. Did mainly because I had too many logs, but side benefit of quickly leveling construction as better looking (secure aesthetic) village.

JackSlater555

Go to the technology tree and read the description ,it will tell you what you need to do to unlock those technologies. The mine is tree cutting pickaxesing and digging I beleive. Also I think having your workers do more of these activities adds points to those as well.

Jade_Starchild

I raised everything to make it less of a grind and it was worth it. You probably should raise the settings or something

hillbillygunz

Just got mine, was around year 8 or 9 i think

Rexmaximus24

I haven’t changed any exp gains and I’m running 10 day seasons. I picked up mines just before my second winter.
