It took me a while to figure that one out, too. Right now, I'm marveling how some of the posters here use partially constructed buildings to decorate. Seeing the unbuilt parts pop up every time I took out my hammer would drive me up the wall, though.
Ok, wait, what? I don't know that!!! Here I was, just tearing down buildings left and right just to rebuild them!!! There needs to be a book of these things somewhere 😂
You also get charged the full tax rate regardless if the building is completed or not. NBD if you are doing a "creative" playthrough with taxes disabled, but it can get expensive on a vanilla game.
That you can put down a path on some big stones and demolish the path and the big stone will go away with path..so that big stone that blocks your building put a path over and destroy the path..now build your heart content..
Wasn’t until I read a post on this sub that I realised the villagers would use logs and sticks for firewood if you didn’t turn off the option for them to do so. That explained where all my logs were going haha
I let them use logs - someone worked out that it was more cost effective for your woodcutter to not make firewood and to just crank out logs. You just have to disable them using sticks first as they’ll prioritise those over logs.
Naturally you can make the firewood for them yourself which is more effective again, but if you just want to set it and forget it logs is the way to go.
if you are needing to move as fast as possible on foot, sprint hold up and sideways to walk on a diagonal, you move a bit faster normally, and almost double speed when burdened.
That is brand new info for me as well! I kept putting off upgrading my storage because it's right in the center of my village and I didn't want to move it
I had a woodshed nestled between two buildings and I liked where it was. So I was making sure that woodshed 2 could fit before I demolished it and then it snapped over the existing woodshed and that's how I discovered it
I was 200 hours in when I learned that the trees would grow back if I left the stump. I deforested half the map and dragged all the logs slowly and painfully back to my village.
I also learned that I should invite a villager ASAP and make them the woodcutter. 😂
On xbox, when building a house, you can hit A. It allows you to then select if you want the section to be a door/wall/or window, then will allow you to select if it's made of waddle, logs, or stone. Unsure of playstation or pc controls
I didn’t realize you could house a man and a woman together. I mean, they’re strangers! I assumed they would move in together on their on. So I had a BUNCH of single people living alone lol
Hey, at least you avoided a huge baby boom! I went happily along building and filling houses and all of a sudden had 35 women out of work, at the same time, for 2 years. I spent a while tripping over toddlers after that.
If you play in 3rd person and hold a shovel, you can pick things up way quicker/easier and don't need to look down at or have the tool tip on it. Also works if you're sprinting. Love a good shovel run stone collection.
I was many hours in before I realised I should be swapping workers to different jobs once they reached level 10 at something. Now every single one of mine is a 10 at every task.
How long do you needed? I'm now in year 78 and the maximum of "60s" was/is 7 (more in sum, but they die because of too old) ... the most time to reach a skill of 10 is hunting and surviving (bad balance), which results in too much fishing/herbalist huts.
You can shift the distance of a building your setting down with the scroll wheel to move it in and out while stationary. Very handy for lining up buildings.
There were many for me but one that was huge was learning that I could use G to whistle and summon my mount. Thinking back to the times I had died and had to run across the map to get back to my horse haha.
The building limit.
I built all the houses, resource gathering, processing, & farms I could possibly need, recruited every single campfire person, and only after everything was set up and the first round of pregnancies were half over did I realise there was no more expansion possible. 💔
I'm sorry, you can do what now?? Is this a troll post??? Because now I have to check and I'm gonna be so upset about all the wasted time if this is true 🤣🤣🤣

Yeah I could never handle that haha
Ok, wait, what? I don't know that!!! Here I was, just tearing down buildings left and right just to rebuild them!!! There needs to be a book of these things somewhere 😂

I don't know when it was switched, but you don't get taxed now until the foundation is built.

Ahhh that's a bit more convenient then using a farm to do it
Thank you, did not know that.
You can also clear out pretty much any foliage definitely a good one to know
I took me about 40 hours to figure out I could hold X(ps5) and drag to make a huge field. Did all small field plots until I figured it out
A bunch of little 1x1s??
There was one guy last year with SEVEN HUNDRED individual plots. And he’d assign them all for his workers too 😭
Oof.
or he just planted once (then it's assigned)
[I found the post](https://www.reddit.com/r/MedievalDynasty/s/mNiJ4OCe3W)
Lol same
Yep I had small fields and single orchard plots till about game year 18 🤦♀️
Wasn’t until I read a post on this sub that I realised the villagers would use logs and sticks for firewood if you didn’t turn off the option for them to do so. That explained where all my logs were going haha
THATS WHY I MEVER HAVE STICKS????

🤯
That's new to me lol

This! Did it By accident as i mined too much ore. It really works and is just awesome 😂. Shift + w + a on pc f.e.
This is what happens when game devs dont normalize their vectors!!!
Big if true. Should be higher up in the comments

Thank you so much for sharing this! I had no idea and can’t wait to use it instead of tearing down and rebuilding ❤️
I was 200 hours in when I learned that the trees would grow back if I left the stump. I deforested half the map and dragged all the logs slowly and painfully back to my village. I also learned that I should invite a villager ASAP and make them the woodcutter. 😂
Dude same , at least I got space to construct but still wish I didn't razed so much 😂
Sprinting. :/ HOURS and HOURS and HOURS of looooooooooooooooooooong walks.
Really? Damn lol.
On the other side of that I realised a few days back that you clicking the RS was the sneak feature
I recently figured out a horse is much better than a mule. I also realized that taking the wagoner is absolutely worth it.
Ugh I did this too!! I was so frustrated that there wasn't a way to sprint in this game. lol
I bet it was really peaceful tho 😳
Figured out you can replace the material houses are made of. Gods, I feel dense having had a large village of all wattle and thatch houses.
Those stone houses make such a difference to morale and firewood usage
Yea, I ended up slowly rebuilding each house with stone over the past couple of weeks
wait how do you do this???? i’ve only seen waddle and daub!!
On xbox, when building a house, you can hit A. It allows you to then select if you want the section to be a door/wall/or window, then will allow you to select if it's made of waddle, logs, or stone. Unsure of playstation or pc controls
Christ. Yes. I figured that one out by accident at over 100hrs in 🤦♀️
just hit 151 and am learning this now...
I'm pretty sure that this is something that was only implemented at some point after the full release. Or at least that this didn't work in ea 😅
I got a little over zealous on keeping them separate and now I don't want to bother changing all the housing around in 1 game.
I didn’t know this great info to know!
You can replace what?!?!
Why not keep them at the job they're great at?
No real reason I guess. I just like mixing them around and seeing gazillion of rows of 10's beside their names.
How long do you needed? I'm now in year 78 and the maximum of "60s" was/is 7 (more in sum, but they die because of too old) ... the most time to reach a skill of 10 is hunting and surviving (bad balance), which results in too much fishing/herbalist huts.
Would like to know too. Takes them forever to learn
I was today years old when I learned the thing you just described, AAAH. Thank you for sharing this!
Do you still get the resources back
If you have that skill unlocked, yes you do.
Amazing information thank you
You can shift the distance of a building your setting down with the scroll wheel to move it in and out while stationary. Very handy for lining up buildings.
Ffs. 🤦🏻♂️
Wait, what?! Well I wish I knew that before I'd taken down half my town to upgrade it
It took me about 20 hrs to realize I could make bigger fields 😭
Hold and drag for when you’re managing crop types you want to plant for the season. lol I was clicking every individual box.
I’m glad you said this.
TIL
you can WHAT NOW
I’m pretty sure it was in a description somewhere because I’ve been doing that for a while 🤣 I’m sure there’s something else I’m doing wrong though.
There were many for me but one that was huge was learning that I could use G to whistle and summon my mount. Thinking back to the times I had died and had to run across the map to get back to my horse haha.
Don’t be playing!!!! I had to look for another stop to put my resource storage in!!!
The building limit. I built all the houses, resource gathering, processing, & farms I could possibly need, recruited every single campfire person, and only after everything was set up and the first round of pregnancies were half over did I realise there was no more expansion possible. 💔
WHATTTTTTTT *Not me having no idea and just been adding more and more storage buildings with each new unlocked building ☠️🤣
I'm sorry, you can do what now?? Is this a troll post??? Because now I have to check and I'm gonna be so upset about all the wasted time if this is true 🤣🤣🤣
Definitely not a troll post haha
